Chapter 3 - Chapter 3: Trick

Rashan didn't care what the components of the white powder were and slapped it directly on his face. He then picked up a big brush to put a red circle outline on his eyes and nose.

"Should I put lipstick?" He smiled at the mirror; his lips were already red enough that it looked like he had just eaten something bloody. It's not like he's deliberately making it look red, it's just because of his poor health, he had always experience his lip skin peeling.

One drop of vinegar and he'd scream as if someone just lit his mouth on fire.

"Well, it's not bright enough." He thought. Rashan happily grabbed the brightest red lipstick from his pockets.

It was unknown if he really thought that it was necessary or was just doing it for the sake of fun.

Rashan didn't bother to put on a wig and just let his long hair bounce in the air like tentacles. He looked at his final look in the mirror and couldn't help but praise, "Awesome!"

He looked around once again to see if he missed something, and sure enough, when he pulled the tablecloth up, he saw multiple prop underneath.

Rashan didn't hesitate to crawl down to reach those things. The first thing he grabbed was a huge hammer.

It had a very long handle that resembled a sugar cane and a ball lollipop-like end.

Rashan pulled it out, and once he did that, he was greeted by the petrified, screaming face of a man lying underneath the table.

"Is this also a toy?" Rashan looked at it in confusion and didn't dare touch it. He grabbed the hammer and pushed the tip toward the 'screaming man'.

Countless maggots suddenly gushed out of the dead (Rashan finally knew what it was) man's body, prompting him to quickly jump up and climb on the table.

"This place is not yet shut down because of health violations?!" Rashan looked at the squirming maggots on the floor in disgust and couldn't help but complain, "This theatre and that smiling man look glamorous on the outside, but they can't even hire a cleaning crew?"

Still, Rashan was not surprised. The fact that Mr Money didn't harvest his organ while he's still asleep is good enough. Being a vagrant, Rashan knew that those people who'd take advantage of someone like him, a person who can't land a job are certainly not good people.

Their job are probably sketchier than they sound.

KNOCK KNOCK KNOCK

"Rashan, are you ready? Come out."

Hearing that voice, Rashan's eyes lit up as if he had seen his savior. He opened his mouth and screamed in distress, "Brother! Help me!"

Behind the door, when Money heard the scream, he panicked.

Could it be that something happened to Rashan inside? Please, dear God, no. He didn't have anyone as a backup.

So without hesitation, Money burst the door open, forgetting that it didn't have any lock.

Before he could see what was going on inside, he saw a figure jumping toward him and landing squarely on his body without a miss.

BANG!

Money fell down on the ground. He could feel his chest being crushed by a heavy object. When he opened his eyes, he realized that Rashan was using him as a landing mat together with that damn heavy hammer.

"Move, you're going to get me killed," Money said through his teeth.

Rashan stood up and distanced himself from the room. He pointed at the table and screamed, "Maggots!"

Money looked at the room and saw countless rice-sized worms crawling on the ground. Just like Rashan's initial reaction, he stood up from the ground quickly and took a step back.

"What have you done?" Money stared at the mess in disbelief. It had only been a few minutes, and this guy had already caused a ruckus.

"I did nothing!" Rashan felt wronged, so he defended himself. "I just took a prop, and those little things got out!"

Money rubbed his forehead, his false composure vanishing as his neat suit got wrinkled .

After debating whether to get angry or not, Money decided to get this all done. He looked at Rashan with a resigned face and said, "I'll get something to clean that up. Come with me."

Rashan pouted and didn't say anything. He dragged the hammer along with him and observed Money's reaction.

He didn't react and just gave the hammer in Rashan's hand a glance before leading the way.

"You guys are gonna give me this?" Rashan voiced his confusion without fear.

"Yeah. I'm sure you are going to need that," Money said without uttering any useful information.

"Aren't you afraid I'd bash the staff with it?" The hammer that Rashan was dragging was certainly heavy. It was enough to turn someone into ground meat.

"You can try," Money said calmly, "but there would be consequences that you don't wanna face."

Rashan went silent and followed Money obediently.

When they finally arrived, Rashan saw that there were already other clowns inside the room. Some of them were on the verge of tears, while others were fidgeting as if there were cockroaches inside their pants.

"Here's your new coworker. All of you, get along well." Money wasn't as easygoing toward the other clowns as he was with Rashan. He scanned all of them up and down and said sharply, "I don't wanna see any of you playing antics. You better behave until the show starts."

After dropping the threat, Money turned his back and left the room.

BANG!

CLIIIIIINK!

He certainly bolted the door from the outside.

Rashan whistled.

Clasped in his palm was a small, round golden brooch with a clown face engraved on the front.

Like a magician, he manage to grab the brooch from Money's suit. Albeit a bit brutal, Rashan appreciated that he's finally getting into character.

Pocketing the brooch, he surveyed his coworker and noticed that one of them looked familiar.

Where have I seen that guy?
