Chapter 5 - Aftermath of northern wars

It has been many years after northern wars ended, nilfgaardians successfully conquered the entire north. The legendary wolf school witcher Geralt decides to retire corvo bianco in toussaint, where he lives with his wife sorceress yennefer. For long the land is plagued with racism, lack of proper governance, witch hunt against both deserving mages and those who truly cared for others. The non-humans faced pogroms and blamed for all misfortune by humans based on superstitions rather than facts. The northern realms had become very chaotic, until the nilfgaardians won the war.

Nilfgaardians maybe harsh due to their strict disciplines but they are ultimately fair and genuinely brought order to once chaotic northern realms, witch hunts stopped, pogroms are discredited by emperor of nilfgaard, and lodge of sorceress as well as other magical orders are rebuilt. The alchemy, runes and rituals are once again legal practices not heresy, under the nilfgaardian rule, who don't give damn about religion or supernatural, they only want order and discipline.

Though it didn't stop the superstitions, distrust towards anything alien, even the mainstream religion like cult of eternal fire that actively oppose anything alien still exists, but forced to become moderate or had to tolerate certain individual to avoid punishment given by imperial authorities.

By now, 2/3 of aen seidhe elves decides to leave this world through ard gaeth. Before leaving, the elves destroyed or took with them most of their cultural heritage, including paintings and art, leaving behind a ruined legacy in the human-dominated world. Though remaining 1/3 of aen seidhe elves still attached to this world, which they calls their home, choose not to leave, instead choose to migrate in places where non-humans are treated better.

Eventually, the 1/3 of aen elle elves were exiled to the continent of this world due to some political reason what lead to expulsion of significant amount of elves of aen elle world to aen seidhe world now dominated by humans. These elves eventually moved to places in this world, where their cousins now lives.

The dwarves, gnomes and halflings finally lives in peace with southerners providing the stability and protection to all races.

Though northern realms is now stable with nilfgaardians managed to impose order to this land. It didn't fully ends the distrust, superstitions, manipulation by clerics, scapegoating and so on.

One day, an eccentric aen elle elf named Gaibriéil and his aen seidhe assistant Roibeárd, were doing their daily work as usually as archaeologists.

Gaibriéil is known for his eccentric nature with is rare but not unheard about an aen elle, his assitant Roibeárd, is often cautious especially against humans, but usually friendly to someone who understands others and are not superstitious nor dimwitted.

Today, both archaeologists felt they have stumbled upon a great discovery. It was information about origin of human races, where they came from, the rise and fall of one type of humanity and the accomplishment of another type to humanity. They found records and parchments about phantasia populus and their near extinction at the hands of their non-magical cousins, the terra populus.

Though there is no evidence whether the information is real or fabrication. But Gaibriéil is confident that this information could be real not fabrication, and it seems to he written before or right after the conjunction of spheres that brought humans, gnomes and many monsters to this world.

{In elder speech} Wonderful! This is great discovery! The origin of humans, their homeworld, them being cornered by their own cousins despite them lacking magic. The parchments also had complete informations of magical knowledge used by humans before the conjunction as well as incomplete knowledge about another race of human that cannot use magic, yet they created many out of ordinary things without it.

{In elder speech} What can I say, this confirm what elder races always believed, those humans are not natives but came from another world. Yet, they claim themselves to be natives and called non-humans to be come from another world. It might be true for halflings who came to this world along with humans and monsters, and us hill folks who came long ago through ard gaeth. But what about dwarves and gnomes? They are clearly the true natives unlike the other races, yet humans oppress them as well.

{In elder speech} I guess, the humans has no idea that they come to this world from conjunction, or rather their ancestors have no recollection or the humans have likely forgotten their true identity as extraterrestial beings.

{In elder speech} Like the hell they have forgotten. The first humans arrived in this land likely knew them being outsiders, but choose to lie to their own children, who then believed they are natives and saw everyone else has aliens. Though it is satisfying to know that these humans cannot even defeat their cousins who has no magical affinity and nearly went extinct. If conjunction of spheres would have much later, it might not be humans but rather their corpses coming to this world.

{In elder speech} Whatever the truth might be, let's inform the guild about this place and what we discovered. I don't know whether humans especially northerners trust this knowledge, but atleast it would atleast reach museums. As for the truth about humans mentioned in the parchments and records, it is up to humans to debate about. We have no interest in human politics, our interest is purely to uncover the secrets of past and make the known to everyone, whether they believe it or not.

{In elder speech} Let's go back to the guild and present them what we found, it may not guarentee our promotion as it go against what humans believed, especially when guild leader is himself a human, but atleast our pay won't be reduced as we are not lazing around.

{In elder speech} Fine, then let's go then.

Both elven archaeologists left the place and went back to guild to inform what they found. The duo are not sure whether the findings are truth or fabrication, but one things is sure, what they are carrying is the last remnants of knowledge about humanity, their rise and eventual fall before conjunction of sphere brought them to this world, preventing their fate of going extinct.
