Chapter 2 - Chapter 2: Level Up

A sudden, violent illness crushed his body. At his level sickness was almost impossible—unless it was the same incurable disease that had felled Gol D. Roger.

He could not understand how he had contracted it; he had touched nothing dangerous, yet the fatal malady had appeared.

After years of silence the system finally spoke: the world had detected him as a foreign existence and was trying to erase him.

That day he fell quiet. Facing the same disease that killed Roger, he felt his strength drain away, soon to return to the weakness of his first days in this world. He could not allow it; too many enemies waited for the moment he faltered.

Then the system offered a choice: with points past the hundred-million mark, he could spend ninety-nine percent of them to force a mission clear, abandon his body, and let his soul travel to a random new world.

Without hesitation he accepted. That night he left behind an empty shell and a letter for Garp; under the system's protection his soul broke free of One Piece and soared toward another reality.

"Too weak." Clenching tiny fists, Asagami Fujino frowned. Accustomed to her former strength, she felt as fragile as paper—unable even to use Haki. The Rokushiki required bodily power she no longer possessed.

Yet her once-empty left arm was whole again, the steel leg replaced by living flesh. The body was weaker than when she had first entered One Piece, but Fujino was undismayed: in a decade she had risen to admiral-level strength, system-assisted but earned all the same. The Haki, Rokushiki, great-swordsman insights, and battle experience remained etched in her mind; once she rebuilt this frail body, the power would return.

"A female body is troublesome..." Becoming a woman didn't bother Asagami Fujino in the least. In the world of One Piece she had long since accepted anything necessary to grow stronger; a change of gender was trivial. Women might be born with less raw strength, yet they could still stand at the pinnacle—take Momousagi, a swordswoman of the Marines who had once fought her to a standstill without the system's help.

Her new identity was hardly weak. Asagami Fujino—one of Type-Moon World's tragedies—possessed the The Demon Eye of Distortion. A left rotation in her left eye, a right rotation in her right; whatever she gazed upon twisted. Activate both axes on a single object and it snapped at the seam. A power equal to any Logia Devil Fruit, perhaps greater.

Becoming Fujino was a sound choice. If fate had made her this girl, she would not allow the tragedy to repeat.

'World variance detected. Commence system upgrade?' The synthetic voice chimed.

'Upgrade? What changes?' Fujino asked.

'Please inspect after completion,' the system replied.

She weighed it briefly. 'Proceed.'

'Upgrade order confirmed. Purging remaining Host points... update initializing.' Fujino said nothing as her balance was wiped; after spending ninety-nine percent she had too little left to buy anything meaningful. A hundred million had looked impressive, yet the items she truly needed cost far more.

'Upgrade finished. Please review.' A new panel materialized.

Host: Asagami Fujino

Strength: F

Endurance: F

Agility: F

Luck: B+~A+

Innate Skills:

Armament Haki: A+

Observation Haki: A+

Unique Sword Art: A++

The Demon Eye of Distortion: EX (Sealed)

Congenital Insensitivity to Pain: C

'An Heroic Spirit sheet? Why no mana?' Fujino asked.

'Host has not opened a single Circuit; no mana pool exists,' the system said. 'Begin One Piece-world reward calculation? Due to a system error the world marked you; compensation will be paid.'

'Calculate it.' She hoped the compensation was useful.

'Processing... Host attained Admiral-class strength. Reward: 10,000 points. Because of system fault, points doubled and ability granted: Supreme Sanctuary!'

Lines appeared on her panel:

Supreme Sanctuary:???

A supreme being shelters you; your future is unobservable, and the world can never strike at you again.

Fujino smiled. With Supreme Sanctuary she need not fear being erased as a foreign element.

'With this blessing the world will not eliminate you no matter how much you alter it; rewrite events as you please.'

As she pleased? She laughed. To act without restraint one still required the power to enforce it.

'Post-upgrade shop adjusted; inspect at leisure.' The voice fell silent.

She opened the store. Prices had simply dropped a zero or two; nothing fundamental changed—point income would have been scaled as well.

She had 20,000 points—meager. A body reinforcement that once cost 20,000 now demanded 2,000; she bought five for 10,000, raising Strength, Endurance, and Agility to E—Heroic Spirit tier, far beyond human limits, roughly a strong Lieutenant from her Marine days.

Three thousand more cured her pain disorder, five thousand bought yubashiri, leaving two thousand.
