Chapter 1 - the debt

Chapter 1

The Debt

The room was silent.

Too silent.

Jasfer's hands trembled slightly.

He knew why this meeting was happening.

He knew who was coming.

And he knew—

This wasn't going to end well.

The door opened.

Keifer walked in.

Calm.

Composed.

Deadly.

No guards needed.

His presence alone was enough.

Jasfer stood up immediately.

"Keifer… welcome… sit—"

Keifer didn't respond.

He walked past him.

Sat down.

Crossed his legs.

Then finally—

He looked at him.

"Where is my money?"

Straight.

No greeting.

No delay.

Jasfer's throat went dry.

"I… I was just about to—"

"Don't."

One word.

Jasfer froze.

Keifer leaned back slightly.

"You took billions."

Pause.

"You knew the terms."

Pause.

"You missed the deadline."

His voice wasn't loud.

But it felt heavy.

Jasfer forced a smile.

"It's just a small delay, Keifer… you know business—"

Keifer's eyes sharpened.

"Small?"

Silence.

For Keifer, the money was nothing.

But this?

This wasn't about money.

This was about disrespect.

Jasfer wiped his sweat.

"I will return it… just give me some time—"

"How much?"

Jasfer hesitated.

"A few months—"

Keifer let out a soft breath.

Almost like a quiet laugh.

"A few months… for something you should have returned already."

Jasfer's legs felt weak.

"Keifer, please… you know my situation—"

"I don't care."

Instant.

Cold.

"I don't care about your situation."

Pause.

"I care about my terms."

Jasfer's voice dropped.

"I can't arrange it right now…"

That was it.

The moment the truth slipped out.

Keifer went silent.

Completely silent.

And that silence—

Was worse than anger.

Jasfer panicked.

"Listen… I have other ways… I can compensate—"

Keifer's gaze lifted slowly.

That one look—

Made Jasfer regret speaking.

"Compensate?"

Low.

Dangerous.

"Yes… yes, I can give you something valuable—"

Keifer didn't interrupt.

He just watched.

Jasfer swallowed hard.

"My daughter."

Silence.

Even the air felt frozen.

Keifer didn't react immediately.

Not shock.

Not anger.

Just stillness.

Jasfer rushed his words.

"She's young… beautiful… well-raised… you can—"

"Stop."

Jasfer shut his mouth instantly.

Keifer's eyes were on him now.

Sharp.

Unreadable.

"You're offering your daughter…"

Pause.

"…for your failure?"

Jasfer's voice broke.

"I have no other choice…"

Keifer leaned forward slightly.

For him—

Money didn't matter.

But this?

This told him everything about Jasfer.

A man who couldn't repay.

A man who couldn't take responsibility.

A man who would trade his own daughter.

Pathetic.

Keifer stood up.

Jasfer's heart dropped.

"Keifer, please—"

"I'll take it."

Jasfer froze.

He didn't expect that.

Keifer adjusted his sleeve calmly.

"Debt cleared."

Just like that.

A life…

Reduced to a transaction.

Jasfer let out a shaky breath.

Relief mixed with shame.

"Thank you… thank you, Keifer—"

Keifer walked toward the door.

Then stopped.

Without turning—

"If you ever take something again…"

Pause.

"…make sure you can return it."

And then—

He left.

Leaving behind silence.

And a deal…

That would change everything.
