Chapter 3 - Chapter 3: Twenty Years of Spring and Autumn

"Let's live our lives peacefully and not get involved in fighting and killing."

Chen Xun patted the big black ox and said seriously, and the latter nodded. They were living a very comfortable life now.

"Old Niu, let's go to the village and find some work. How can you survive in this world if you don't know a wide range of skills?"

Chen Xun stood up and smiled, tucked the axe into his waistband. Now that they had rice, they didn't need to be fed or kicked out by others.

Moo~

The man and the ox began to learn various skills from different masters in the village, such as funeral services and playing the suona horn. They learned these skills very well.

Big Black Ox's coffin-carrying skills are even better than Chen Xun's; everyone in the village gives him a thumbs up.

Nowadays, if there are weddings or funerals, people from all over the village will personally go to invite Chen Xun out of the cave. In short, they are professional!

Chen Xun was an optimistic person by nature. Having many skills was never a bad thing. Because of his immortality, he was full of hope for the future and his days were incredibly fulfilling.

Ten years have passed in the blink of an eye, and the years have left their mark on Chen Xun's eyes, while the village has seen many newborns.

"How lonely it is to be invincible."

Chen Xun stood in the cave, grinning, and made a punching motion, with a huge rock in front of him.

boom!

He threw a punch, and the boulder shattered into countless fragments the moment it touched the rock, but his hand bones remained intact.

The big black bull sat on the ground, looking at Chen Xun with an arrogant expression. It was terrifying that he hadn't broken any bones.

"Old Niu, how's it going?"

"Moo!"

"Hahaha..."

Chen Xun laughed heartily, his hands behind his back, his eyes revealing an air of dominance over the world. "This is only one or two tenths of my power."

Big Black Bull actually believed it, and his arrogance grew even stronger, which Chen Xun found incredibly entertaining.

Over the past decade, Chen Xun has invested all his longevity points into strength, making it easy for him to withstand the Nine Cauldrons, a feat that surpasses that of ordinary people.

Even the little black boy in the village could easily crush him with just three fingers when they arm wrestled.

"Chen Xun!"

"Chen Xun!"

...

An urgent shout came from outside the cave. The big black ox jumped up, thinking, "Something's up!" It quickly used its horns to lift the equipment and slightly raised its head.

It's now considered a sacred ox in the village, and even the village's big yellow dog has to call it "Brother Ox" when it sees it, but that's just what it thinks in its own mind.

"Folks, what's wrong?"

Chen Xun stepped out of the cave and saw that dozens of people had arrived. "Is it a wedding or a funeral? I need to prepare my attire."

"The old village chief...is gone," several villagers said sadly.

"ah?"

Chen Xun was startled. The old village chief had always taken good care of him and the old ox. He suddenly felt a void in his heart. "Let's go!"

The village's mourning hall was filled with villagers. Chen Xun played the suona horn, the autumn wind was bleak, and fallen leaves were fluttering.

His eyes held a sigh; mortals are ultimately no match for the pain of separation and death, and a mere hundred years pass in the blink of an eye.

The big black ox carried several bells on its back, which jingled and complemented Chen Xun's suona, like an autumn funeral song, leading the old village chief into the distance.

On a country road outside the village, Chen Xun stood expressionless, personally carrying the coffin, followed by a long procession of people, with yellow paper fluttering everywhere

"Buried~~"

Chen Xun and the others carefully placed the coffin into the ground. He stood aside, watching all the villagers bid farewell.

Some prayed for blessings, some for wealth, some for immortality...

After everyone had left, Chen Xun silently bowed three times and murmured with a smile, "Old village chief, thank you for your care. May you have a safe journey."

Moo~ Big Black Ox was in low spirits and followed Chen Xun's example by bowing his head three times.

Back in the village, Xiao Heizi, now a grown man, saw Chen Xun and smiled, "Brother Xun, you're still so young, you don't look old at all."

"The key is having a good mindset."

Chen Xun chuckled and patted Xiao Heizi on the shoulder, "Not bad, young man. You're as strong as an ox and have three-tenths of my skill from back in the day."

"hey-hey."

Xiao Heizi smiled sheepishly, "My dad used to go to the mountains and dig up some things that gave me a lot of nourishment."

"Be careful when you go hunting in the mountains, your parents are getting old."

"I know, Xun-ge'er, why don't you come to my house for dinner?"

"No need, I have other things to do."

Chen Xun quickly shook his head; he was afraid that with his current appetite, he would bankrupt Xiao Heizi's family.

"Alright, then I'll be going now, Brother Xun." Xiao Heizi, still carrying a pheasant, said goodbye to Chen Xun.

Okay.

Chen Xun smiled and said that smoke was already rising from the chimneys of every household, preparing for the feast.

A man and an ox passed through the myriad lights of the village and headed towards the cave outside the village, leaving behind only a lonely silhouette and the cold gleam of the axe at his waist.

Spring comes and autumn goes, and another ten years have passed in a flash. Xiao Heizi now has two children. One of them is a boy named Da Heizi by Chen Xun. He often makes Da Heizi cry in the village, which makes the black ox moo and laugh.

Chen Xun is now a highly respected figure in the village, but he shows no signs of aging.

Many people in the village have been giving him strange looks, and because of his bachelorhood, there have been some rumors that he is impotent.

Upon hearing this, Chen Xun was furious. He was a dignified seven-foot-tall man with strong and powerful legs, yet he was being told he was impotent!

He found Aunt Wang in the village and engaged in a heated debate with her, spitting as they argued until they were red in the face. He almost pulled out his big treasure to prove himself, but in the end, because Big Black Ox was not good with words, he was defeated.

Inside the cave, Chen Xun was furious and still nagging about the big black ox. The black ox, who was standing behind him, was so timid that it couldn't utter a single word.

"Forget it, they outnumber us."

Chen Xun sighed deeply, lamenting the humiliation and injustice he had suffered. "Old Niu, it's not your fault, it's just that we've lived too long."

Moo!

The big black ox nodded vigorously. It had shown off its precious treasure, only to be ridiculed and mocked by the group of aunties.

"Why is it that the power level is capped at 20 points?"

Chen Xun wondered, as if he had hit a bottleneck, a sentiment echoed even by Da Hei Niu.

There was absolutely no difference between 21 points and 20 points, so he reluctantly added the longevity points to speed and also added one point to Black Bull.

Their current life points are: Strength, 21; Speed, 1.

They clearly felt their walking speed double, as if they were walking on air. After Chen Xun added some points, he suddenly realized the key to running away.

"Old Niu, it's time for us to leave."

Chen Xun sighed, his eyes still filled with reluctance, "This village can no longer accommodate you and me."

Aside from Xiao Heizi's family, more and more familiar people in the village are slowly disappearing. To ordinary people, eternal youth is too terrifying, after all, there are no skincare products or hormone injections in this world.

The big black ox also looked too strange, and many people in the village had already set their sights on it, wanting to catch it and kill it to nourish their children.
