Chapter 6 - Mate or pet?

ZEPHYR.

"Something isn't right, Zephyr." Tristan linked me, and I nodded as I kept my eyes on the girl on the floor in front of me, she looked like she was just a few seconds away from dying.

"I know." I responded to Tristan's link before I cleared my throat and moved my gaze to the pussy that called himself the alpha of a pack.

The man was weaker than the weakest creature I fought, and I wasn't surprised that he needed our help. With an alpha like him, the pack was bound to become scrub for rogue wolves, and yet he acts so high and mighty it disgusts me.

My fists clenched so hard that it took everything I had in me to hold myself back from doing anything stupid. I couldn't be caught dead losing my mind over an insect.

But, when Malcolm had called her useless, I could feel my control snapping between my fingers, and I knew that I should do something before I completely lost it.

I've been feeling this way since I stepped foot into this pack, there was something here, something that belonged to me, something I needed to take back, but who knew it would be something so irrelevant.

She had been able to bump into me because she couldn't sense our presence, she couldn't sense MY presence, and that was something I couldn't let go of.

There wasn't a single living creature on earth that couldn't feel the three of us. Our presence is felt miles before we get to the actual location, and yet— a small smile tugged at the side of my lips.

"Are you saying she's the reason for your pack's bad luck?" I questioned, looking away from Malcolm and at the pathetic girl. I knew Malcolm was weak, but I couldn't believe he would blame something so helpless for his own incompetence.

"All signs point to it, Alpha Ze—"

"I didn't give you permission to say my name," I cut him off before he could mention my name, the last thing I wanted was for an irrelevant creature like himself saying my name as if he'd earned the right.

"Alpha Malcom." I drawled, making an obvious mockery of his title as an alpha. "You may only say our name if we permit you, and I don't believe any of us here have."

"I—I'm sorry, Alpha." Malcolm apologized at once, his head bowing lower, his lips quivering. My brothers and I aren't fools, we know that Malcolm hated and doesn't care for us, the feeling was mutual though.

"And like I was trying to explain, disposing of her would be the right thing to do, and I don't want to appear too proud to you Alphas, but I believe elimination will be the right thing to do." He finished.

I gauged the girl's expression and I watched the shock on her face when Malcolm said those words. Her shoulders fell, showing how awfully hurt she was.

Tears glistened in her eyes, and my chest tightened so hard it hurts at the sight of that, but I shook the feeling off as I looked away from her.

"Really? You would willingly eliminate her because you think she's the reason for your pack's misfortune?" I asked, and Malcolm nodded.

"I have to do what is right for the pack after all." He responded, further proving to the girl that he doesn't care about her one bit, that he would gladly watch her die.

"Even if that means killing someone you once claimed to love?" Not just the girl this time, but even Malcolm looked shocked that I knew that. "That's not very fitting for an alpha, but I don't really care about that."

I looked back at the girl who was shivering now, I could really smell death around her. When she stripped in front of us, I felt something tighten in my stomach.

She had bruises that had refused to heal, she had scars all over her body, and that had made me wonder why she wasn't healing. Not only had she been subjected to terrible behavior in this pack, but it had been so incessant that her body couldn't possibly keep up.

"I knew they hated her the very moment we saw what they did to her, but I didn't think they would hate her enough to just send her off." Tristan mindlinked me again.

"Zephyr, didn't you say she's an Alford? Why would they treat an Alford like that, not like I care." Zayden was the one who linked me this time.

I shook my head slightly. "Well, it doesn't matter, Alford or not, we have a new pet now." I responded to both their mindlinks, and they both seemed satisfied with it.

That's right. This girl was supposed to be an Alford, and not someone that should be easily disposed of, but I didn't mind as long as I had a pet to play around with and ease my boredom.

I also wanted to see how much she could take before she finally breaks and dies. The thought of it filled me with a kind of excitement that made my cock throb and strain against my pants.

My wolf growled, rearing its head as it paced back and forth underneath my skin. He was evidently mad at me because he had mentioned the one word that I didn't want to hear, and I scolded him.

Both of us had butted heads before Malcom and the girl came in, he wanted to accept, and I on the other hand would only accept it over my dead body, but the pull had gotten so strong that it was excruciating.

I could never stoop so low, the moon goddess was either cracking a very unfunny joke, playing a silly game, or she made a mistake because there was no way someone like that girl could be my mate.

There is nothing more disgusting and disrespectful than being mated to someone I simply want to torture.

"You." I said, and the girl was smart enough to know that I was referring to her because she lifted her head at once. "What's your name?" I asked.

She lowered her head and bit her trembling lower lip for a moment before she opened her mouth to speak. "Ma—Marian, Alpha. My name is Marian Alford." She responded, her cracked lips trembling.

She really is an Alford. Now, this is really interesting. Why would they treat an Alford blood like this?

"A disgusting name for a disgusting creature. I'm not surprised." I said, and Tristan smiled his usual smile while Zayden laughed out loudly, he'd always been loud, and the girl looked like she wanted to disappear.

A small silence settled in the council room, and I could have sworn that I heard Tristan and Zayden groan at the same time, their facial expressions changing, but they both schooled their faces back to their normal expressions.

What was that? What just happened. Did they—

"Alphas, if I may…." Malcolm's disgusting voice jolted me out of my thoughts before I could reach a conclusion.

Drawing my brows into a frown, I scowled at him, knowing exactly where this conversation was headed. "What?"

"I was just—I—" He stuttered, suddenly unable to form a coherent sentence. "I was just thinking that, you know, now that you will be taking this useless girl off our hands, can I take that as a sign of cooperation?" He asked, and my frown deepened.

Tristan laughed softly, and Zayden barked. "Huh?" His voice was loud and filled with contempt. "I would ask you to repeat yourself, but that would make me want to cut off your tongue."

Malcolm remained in his one knee position as beads of sweat immediately clustered on his forehead. His teeth gritted, his jaw tightening as he struggled against Zayden's violent energy.

The girl was also struggling, but if my deduction is right, Zayden's aura wouldn't hurt her, neither of our energy would be able to hurt her, but her body just probably needs to adjust to us.

Ah, there is no way this is really happening.

"Alphas, I—"

"Alpha Malcolm, you only speak when it's your turn to speak." Tristan was the one who spoke this time, and this is the angriest I have seen him, he barely got angry.

I didn't need a saint to tell me that this had nothing to do with what Malcolm had just said, and everything to do with why he and Zayden had groaned earlier.

"You don't want to turn mute when you weren't born as one, do you?" He asked, and Malcolm's lips immediately sealed shut. I really didn't need to say anything, these two would handle it.

"One puny girl is not enough to enlist our help, Malcolm, who exactly do you think we are?" Zayden growled, but Malcolm could barely respond or apologize, there was no way he could speak with the amount of energy practically squeezing his lungs.

"Was it your intention to sell the girl off to the Apex Three?" It was Tristan who spoke this time, "because if that's it, then the girl is hardly worth it." His smile broadened, getting creepier each time.

"She is not even as useful as my pet dog, and there is absolutely nothing special about her."
