Chapter 13 - Chapter 13 — The Veilwalker’s Warning

Marvin crept down the quiet corridor, the walls of the Guest House seeming to lean closer as he moved. Even though the house had begun responding to him, there was an unease he couldn't shake—a subtle tension in the air, like the calm before a storm.

The Veilwalker stood at the end of the hall, its pale mask tilted slightly. Its presence was silent, almost unnatural, but Marvin knew better than to ignore it.

"You said this place was found," Marvin began, his voice low, careful. "What did you mean?"

The Veilwalker's head tilted, slow and deliberate, and a whisper of movement passed through the air. "Doors attract attention," it said, voice smooth and echoing, yet somehow inside Marvin's mind.

Marvin's brow furrowed. "From what?"

The Veilwalker didn't answer. Instead, it pointed toward the sealed door of the West Wing. Marvin followed its gesture.

"It will come from there," the Veilwalker added, its words cold but calm.

Marvin swallowed, feeling the weight of the warning. "And if it does?" he asked, though part of him already knew the answer.

The figure made no further movement, no additional sound. It simply stood there, waiting.

Marvin turned away slowly and exhaled. The hall felt colder than before, as if shadows themselves had thickened along the edges. Every door, every corridor seemed to hold a secret now.

He glanced back at the West Wing. The seal was still intact, glowing faintly, almost expectant.

"…Great," Marvin muttered. "Just what I needed. Something trying to get in, and I have no idea what it is."

The guests stirred quietly in their rooms, oblivious to the danger. Even the Prism Entity's light dimmed, as if sensing the tension but unsure what to do.

Marvin's fists clenched. "Well… I guess that makes it my problem."

He took a deep breath and stepped toward the West Wing door. The veil of calm the house had offered moments ago felt fragile now.

"…Alright," Marvin whispered. "Time to see what's waiting for me."

The shadows around the door shifted slightly. The air thickened, carrying a faint metallic scent. Marvin's hand hovered over the seal, and for the first time, he felt both dread and anticipation at what he might find.

Somewhere deep in the Guest House, the Veilwalker watched silently, its mask reflecting only Marvin's determined face.
