Chapter 6 - Chapter 6- Wheel Of Fortuna

[As Spes prepared to launch himself he felt a sharp pain in his head when his feet sprung off the ground. This pain caused him to miss calculate his jump from Barbadon and ended up slamming into the planet Fortuna is on instead of landing on his feet. The landing caused a massive crater to form.] Oww, how did that just happen? [ Spes sits up and looks around, this planet is known as Infortunium, a very creature packed planet. There are around twenty different creatures on this planet because it is a hub that Fortuna made since he takes a liking to many different creatures, for. Sex purposes. He keeps these creatures in a large tower named accordingly "The Hub." The creatures that live in this tower go as follows being Humans, Gragin, Duskies, Renakion, Laspon, Forntin, Grimps, Hagnas, Nosticts, Bargigion, Megafroths, Uranits, Zasps, Krackniks, Prosithimites, Yigs, Sevys, Volnim, Mutani, and Quadna. Every species on Infortunium is humanoid to a capacity. They walk on two legs, have two eyes mostly, and they have opposable thumbs.] That was not what was supposed to happen. [Spes stands up and dusts himself off.] I wonder if Deus will get acquainted easily. I wonder if Danity likes him. [I hope he is shunned out immediately for what he did to me. My head hurts because of him, or I think Spes head hurts? Oh my Deus he caused the miscalculation. Spes! Spes! It was Deus!] He seemed to like Danity just a little. [Spes starts to walk in the direction of a huge tower and just completely ignores me. Thanks a lot. The city is one large tower with multiple sections and layers with Fortuna obviously being at the top of that tower.] This is honestly impressive. [Spes stands at the base and jumps all the way to the top landing on a balcony. He opens a door leading in and walks in on Fortuna having intercourse. Spes backs away but Fortuna looks at him.] "Spes! How are you, friend?" [Fortuna gets out of bed and walks over to Spes naked.] "Would you mind dressing before you touch me with that thing by accident?" [Fortuna looks down and back up.] "Ah yes i can" [Clothes form onto his body.] "Do not worry about the lady she was just visiting." [Yeah visiting Pound town.] "Yeah that sounds reasonable." [Don't lie to his face.] "So Fortuna, I am here to help with whatever it is you need to fix your concept." [Fortuna pushes the naked lady out of the room and closes the door.] "Yes, yes, I need you to fix some luck problems and then we are all set." [Fortuna turns to look at Spes.] It is very simple. I just need you to get ten random people and bring them all back here and we will conduct the experiment needed to fix all the big problems you have caused." "What is the experiment?" "It is a game. I won't tell you much but I recommend finding bad people only, but if you want to have some fun, mix the bag up a little". [Fortuna gives him a hand. A literal hand.] "Put the thumb and index finger together and look through it to see the luck of people and a bunch of other stuff, now go on and find those subjects." [Spes takes the hand and puts it into one of his pockeds he, then nods and jumps out the top before landing at the bottom of the tower head first. Are we serious?] I rubbed my head from the fall. I do not understand why I have been missing my jumps as of late but I can get used to it. It is not like it hurt me. There are eleven layers to this tower. Each layer contains two of each species that primarily live in the zones those layers are modeled after. In reality there is only ten sense Fortuna owns the top layer. I will just take one person from each layer and I guess I will look at them through the hand and take them up to the top layer. I walk into the first layer and it is a very desert-like area. Duskies and Grimps live on this layer as they have three separate eyelids that keep sand from hitting their eyeball. It thankfully does not smell like sulfur like it does on the Duskies home planet Kragion. Grimps live on Haj which is a moon that has a constant sandstorm constantly swirling through the air. Both of these species thrive in a desert which is why this layer makes sense. I pull out the hand and look through it. I can see so much information on people but not the luck Fortuna was talking about. I get closer to a Duskie that I am looking at and I see the Yin & Yang scale strung across their forehead. I read 42% meaning they aren't good but not horrible, completely bad, most likely from theft and or assault. I put the hand down and walk over. "Hello my name is Spes. I am a Primordial Deity just like Fortuna and you have been chosen for an experiment." The Duskie smiles wide and she jumps in excitement. "I have finally been chosen!" I scratch my head. "Does he do this a lot?" "Yes he loves to find women to 'help' him." She means intercourse. "No it is not for that." She frowns but still nods. "I guess I'll get enough action from just smelling him." "Yeah, whatever you say." I guess I have found my first follower.

The way to go higher in the tower is fairly simple, you just have to go up a spiral staircase that spirals all the way to the top without break or detour. I led this woman up the staircase until we reached the top of the first layer or the bottom of the second layer. Layer two was an ocean where two fish-like species lived, those being Sevys and Laspon. Both of these species have webbed digits and semi aquatic features similar to amphibians. "Alright stay here I will be back." I jump into the water and swim to the bottom ending up at where a city resides. I pull out the hand and hold it in front of me where I see a Laspon with a scale of 33% I torpedo over and grab him before surfacing. "Hey get your hands off me." The Laspon tries pushing me off. "I am a Primordial Deity and you have been selected at random to be a part of an experiment. You have no say or rule so keep your mind closed." "I am not into men!" " I let go. "What?" "I don't want him to have his way with me." "No, that is not what this is. It is recruitment. The Laspon stops resisting and accepts. I grab him and throw him onto the dock before climbing on it myself. "That was quick sir." "I do not waste much time when it comes to Deity matters, or at least I try not to." I gesture to the stairs and both of them start to climb up. I follow behind them and once at the top we reach a hot spring and geyser packed area. This area is where Hagnas and Forntin live. They have thick dense layers of skin that protect them from hot water and pain in general. I don't think anything can make them feel pain. "Okay again just wait here." I walk off into the nearby area and do as I've done before. I feel a rush go through my head. I cough and spit out a red liquid. It is blood but it's dusted with particles that are unfamiliar to me. [Spes passes out. He falls to the ground and hits his head. Oh shit Spes! Wake up now you're not done with your job! Maybe if i bang on the walls? Well that didn't work. Oh Deus how do I figure this out? Oh! I've got it! This gives me a chance to do something. I'll just finish the job for him. Yeah, alright, how do I control this thing? Oh, I just made a cup, and now it's gone. That's cool but not really useful. Where's the hand? Ahh there it is. Okay so i just looked through it and, oh wow he's got a score of 86% that's pretty good honestly I think he'll come with. Okay, do I just grab him? Okay so he's yelling I can just hit him maybe? Oh shit I knocked him out. Wait nevermind I just killed him. oops. You know what I think I'll just cut this out of my memory.] I wake up on the ground with Fortuna standing over me. "Why did you just fall to the ground?" I sit up and look around. How did I get here? My mind rings with pain for a second and stops. Is pain my enemy today? I look over and I see ten people. The two bad I had chosen and then eight others I did not recognize. There was a Forntin, a Yig, a Gragin, a Mutani, a Zasp, a Megafroth, a Volnim, and a Human. I did not pick any of these. "Did you go and get eight?" "What? You brought them back, and by the looks of it you wanted a really good game!" I am very confused. I pull the hand out and look around the room. It seems that some of the percentages are above fifty. I was only going to get the bad but for some reason I grabbed some good ones too apparently. I can only hope the game is not bad. A curtain falls and a crowd is shown, they start cheering. "Welcome ladies and gentlemen I am your host Fortuna and you are watching Wheel of Fortuna!" The crowd explodes to even more yelling and cheering. "But today I have a special guest. My friend and fellow Deity, Spes!" The crowd does not stop. I like being cheered for. It feels nice. Fortuna walks over to the contestants and a wheel lights up behind them with ten slots. Five slots labeled life and the other five labeled death. "You all know how the rules work but just in case you are new here I will let one of my servants explain." A servant walks onto the stage and stands in the middle. "The rules are simple. Each contestant has one spin. They will spin the will and if it lands on life they can move onto the safe side and take the card they landed on with them." He gestures to the side of the stage. Lights flicker on and blind me. The life side has obnoxiously bright green lights. "If they land on death they will take their card and await execution on the opposite side." He gestures to the other side and dim red lights flicker and die out. The servant bows and disappears off stage. I grab Fortuna. "They spin to die?" "Yeah it is a luck thing. They have to get lucky not to land on death. Like it?" I let go and step back. "How does this help our problem?" "You will see my friend. Watch, I promise nothing will go wrong." I sigh. I trust him, even if he is crazy. So I believe in his ways and that they can find a solution that I cannot see.

As I am thinking to myself the Laspon steps up. "Oh you are a bad cookie I see. Let us see if you are worth living or dying." The Laspon shakes his head. "I'm not going to spin." "This is not a choice. Spin or I pick for you." "No." Before I can step in, Fortuna grabs a death card off the wheel and shoves it through both the Laspons wrists joining them together. The Laspon screams in pain but the crowd swallows up the screams with their own noise. "You did disobey." I throw that comment out and drag the Laspon over to the death side. "Well I am glad to see we got some disobedient souls on stage but just remember I will make your death more painful than it already is going to be if you decide to be a pain." Fortuna shoves a Yig on stage. A Yig is a furry creature. It lives in a cold environment which its thick coat protects it from. Yigs resemble long haired bovidae, but the problem I have is that this Yig is yet but a child. "Fortuna, that is a little girl. You cannot be serious?" "You are the one who brought her up, and anyways. Trust the process." The Yig looks scared but she grabs the wheel and spins it. Surprisingly a little girl has more gall than a grown man. The spin is very weak. It spins only 3 times before landing on the blank space from the old death card. "Respin." She spins it again and it lands on the blank. "Respin." Over and over the wheel is spun and lands on this space. "Alright I am going to let the crowd vote. Scream if you want her to live." The yells are shallow. "Now if you want death!" The crowd erupts. "Fortuna you cannot be serious." "Spes. trust the process." A servant walks out and takes her to the death side. "It is like you all want to see blood!" The crowd jumps up and down. As the wheel clicks cards are picked and picked until five are on life and five are on death. "Well now that we have all of the exemptions we will let them choose who dies first!" the five people point. Fortuna counts. "Okay we have a declaration!" a drumroll starts. "The Yig will die first!" The crowd goes crazy. I want to say something but I will just let it play out. "Someone throw an item onto the stage." A clothes hanger gets tossed on stage. "Oh brutal I will save this for the next one but i think we should do a simple one to start off the show." Fortuna thinks. "Knife on the board it is." A servant ties the girl to a board and Fortuna throws a knife right at her. The knife deflects off something invisible and lodges into the wood beside her. "Hmm guess I will just have to break her neck." Fortuna walks over and grabs her head. He snaps one of his own forearms and then drops the girl off stage. He regenerates his arm. The crowd is cheering thinking blood was spilled.Fortuna leans over to whisper. "If someone on the death side lives it is because they are being protected by a particle of luck." The particle flies into his ear and he walks back to the middle of the stage. "Anyway viewers let us move on to the next death!" The Laspon is pushed up. His wrists are still joined. Fortuna grabs the clothes hanger and starts beating him to death. Fortuna swings so many times yet the Laspon has not died. Fortuna must have limited his strength to not obliterate the Laspon in one swing. For about ten minutes Fortuna has not stopped hitting him and the Laspon is still alive with trenches in his skin from his skin collapsing into the muscle. He has canyons on his body that were caused from the hanger eroding his skin. After another ten minutes of brutal lashing Fortuna finishes off the Laspon by shoving the hanger down his throat and bashing the end with his fist as someone would to drive a nail into wood. The Laspon dies and Fortuna kicks his corpse off stage. He turns and throws the coat hanger behind him but it lodges into the brain of one of the people standing on the life side. "Unlucky I guess." The body of the Zasp falls onto the floor face first. The clothes hanger shoves deeper through their head as they hit the ground. I notice that there is no pattern to the death. I take out the hand Fortuna gave me and look at his body through it to see that he had a 39%. A particle flies out his body into Fortuna's ear. Fortuna looks at me. "I told you to trust me. Now look at how much progress we are making." It seems that the ones below 50% die and the ones above live. How interesting.

A Forntin walks up and is forced to commit suicide on stage. Fortuna gives her a pole gun. A gun usually used for cattle to be shot in the head for quick killing. The Forntin puts it to her head. She cries and shakes as the crowd yells for her to do it. With a scream she pulls the trigger. It does not fire off. She pulls it away with a shaky hand to look at it but it fires off blasting right through a Volnim on the life side. She drops the pole gun and runs off stage crying. Two particles fly through the air into Fortuna's ear. There are five left in total now. There are still two people with below 50% in the room. "Spes. Kill one of them." I look at the death side and both of them are above 50%. I look at Fortuna and he nods. I step up and prepare. I throw a punch at one of them but I slip and fall causing a floor board to flip up under someone on the good side and they go into the roof smashing against it and turning them into a paste that drops chunks of flesh onto the floor. I stand up and look at what I did. Thankfully it was a Megafroth below 50%. "Wow, this episode is turning unexpected!" The crowd yells "yes!" Fortuna tries to throw a quick kick into the last one on the death side but he spins in a one-hundred and eighty degree turn the wrong way. Somehow a bunch of particles shoot from Fortuna and slam through the first girl I grabbed at the bottom of the spire, the Duskie. Little holes get placed all along her form, blood spews out and she gags, letting out a silent scream. She falls forward with a gushing thud and the last particles in the room all go into his ear. "And that is how Wheel of Fortuna is played!" The crowd whistles and claps as the curtains pull back and the wheel shuts off along with the stage lights. Fortuna leads me back to his room. "I assume you want an explanation on what happened?" I simply nod. "I thought so. Okay so you chose ten people of an even split. Five good and five bad based on the scale. See i actually messed with your none existent luck particles so you could find the exact samples i need, but since you do not have any luck particles, your concept is without luck meaning emotions are too stream lined, but with the inclusion of luck in the mind that means people can have officially have luck in their minds which allows their lives to feel more random and freeing. Understand?" "Not at all." "Alright, I am not re-explaining." I look past Fortuna. "Hey, the human is still here." Fortun turns around. "Oh her yeah I am going to sleep with her after we get this sorted out." He pauses. "Anyways now that i have some stable particles to give out i can do this." ten particles form in his palm. "Half are electrons and the other half is protons. Snort them and they will enter your vault." I take them and sniff them straight into my nose without much hesitation. "They feel spicy." "They are just shocking your nose and brain. It is fine." Fortuna snorts some himself. "Okay we are finished. Thanks for the help Spes." "Wait, is that it?" Fortuna shrugs and nods. "Yeah we just needed to stabilize some particles. Your vault is going to sort out the problem automatically, and also keep the hand. It will be useful." "What was the point of the game?" "I like to entertain the creatures of the spire. They like watching things die, so I created a game that they can view." "Okay then, What even is the hand?" "It is mine. I just made a copy out of my own skin." I nod as that would make a lot of sense. "Also it has a filter of tightly packed particles that allow you to see what I can see with my eyes." I thank him and go to leave. "Hey I know you are curious about some things you have seen." I turn around and yes I have questions but not very important ones. "Why do you sleep with so many women?" Fortuna smiles. "Oh yes well the reason is because the act of consensual intercourse with a female is one of the best feelings ever. The sound and the joy another gets is immaculate, but i do not indulge in rape nor the action of adultery. That is disgusting to me. Only single, consenting women are allowed to lay with me." "How noble." He nods. "Yes, very noble." "I also want to know. What is your kill code?" Fortuna ponders for a second. "I only kill those 49% or below. The reason is that the concept of dead neutral does not exist. Nothing except a Deity can be exactly 50%." "So killing the evil is better than just killing those who disobey us?" "I do not believe we should kill those who disobey us unless they are evil at heart. We do not need to be involved within human or creature affairs anyway. I would recommend you think the same, but other than that Spes. I hope everything goes your way." After that I officially leave. I think I want to have a different code. I think I will only kill those who are truly evil in nature and at heart. Thank you Fortuna. I needed a new code. I launch off the planet with many new thoughts. I think a break is always deserved after working so long. I think for my second day I will start off with a break. Yeah. That sounds amazing.
