Chapter 192 - Squid Game.

Barzakh grunted in pain you really think you have me beat. "Hehehehehehehe....." Barzakh began to dissolve his arms began to become fish like. He began to laugh again. As he did so water began to fill the area. This frightened our fighters. Before anyone knew what was happening they were all under water. Something move past everyone's foot. They noticed they could all breath just fine. From the darkness came a giant squid the size of a mountain it had Barzakh's Kanji on it. It was clear that he was the giant squid. Lupus growled: "God fucking damnit. I can't believe this guy. He just keeps upping his game." Talus was excited as one could be. He quickly began to increase in size. And went forward with the fight with Barzakh. Barzakh began to speak with a booming voice. "HAHAHAHAHA! You desire to take on a god?! Fine its your funeral. Enjoy your abode in the Shadow Realm!"

Meanwhile, outside of the Astral Dimension that Barzakh constructed several NUS agents trying to break in to retrieve our heroes. One of them was a young girl named Liliam was huffing: "Jesus fucking Christ, are these people even fucking worth it we're sending like 80 NUS divisions to retreave them." Another agent Kaelan with black slick hair, a long dark overcoat, and some purple frosted tips, with an expression of indifference and alufness on his face said in the most tone-deaf and expressionless voice: "We need to retrieve them there essential in destroying the Void which threatens this entire quadrant Liliam." Liliam sighed and huffed: "What ever. I could be flicking the bean right now and I'm dealing with this stupid shit." Another NUS agent Kaito responded with a great degree of smugness: "Oh yeah, playing with yourself is much more important than the health of the organization." Liliam shot back with a shit-eating grin: "I would prefer to have a partner. You think you could go down on me after this is all over. I'll make it worth your while." Kaito laughed and replied: "Honestly I guess I've seen everything at this point. A female sex pest. How pathetic can you be to beg a man for sex?" This struck a nerve and Liliam lost her temper.

"You know you can be a real piece of shit you know that. Kaito shrugged, "It just shows that you can dish it out but you can't take it."

The Astral Dimension shimmered violently as Liliam's rage manifested. A raw, uncontrolled burst of psychic energy lanced out from her, striking Kaito square in the chest. He didn't even have time to register surprise before he was thrown backward twenty feet, his body hitting the invisible barrier of the dimension with a sickening thud. He slid down it, leaving a smear of blood, his overcoat torn at the shoulder.

"Pathetic?!" Liliam shrieked, her voice cracking with fury. Her eyes glowed with a malevolent violet light. "I'll show you pathetic, you condescending prick!" She raised her hands, and the very fabric of the pocket dimension began to warp around Kaelan and the other agents, the air growing thick and heavy, pressing in on them.

Kaelan's expressionless face finally showed a flicker of annoyance. He didn't even look at Kaito, his gaze fixed on the writhing barrier they were trying to breach. "Liliam. Stand down. Your tantrum is compromising the structural integrity of the entry point. You're making this harder."

"Fuck you and your structural integrity!" she screamed, unleashing another wave of energy. This one was aimed at the barrier itself, causing it to crackle dangerously. A small fissure appeared, and for a brief moment, the sounds from within—the muffled roars of the giant squid and the thunderous impacts of Talus's attacks—could be heard clearly.

Inside, the battle was reaching a fever pitch. Talus, now a titan of stone and muscle, slammed his fists into one of Barzakh's colossal tentacles. The impact sent shockwaves through the water, but the squid didn't even flinch. Instead, another tentacle, thicker than a redwood tree, whipped around and coiled around Talus's torso, squeezing with impossible force. Stone cracked and dust puffed from Talus's body.

Lupus, a blur of fur and claws, darted through the water, weaving between the thrashing tentacles. He was looking for a weak point, a glowing core, anything that might pass for a vital organ. "Talus! The head! Aim for the beak!" he howled, his voice carrying strangely through the aqueous dimension.

Barzakh's booming laughter echoed. "A beak? You think a god is bound by such crude anatomy? I AM THIS REALITY!" The water itself began to churn and solidify around Lupus, forming a cage of solidified liquid that trapped him mid-swim.

Outside, Kaelan had had enough. With a sigh that spoke of immense boredom, he turned from the barrier. In a single, fluid motion, he drew a slender, obsidian-bladed dagger from his coat. He didn't lunge or shout. He simply appeared beside Liliam, the dagger pressed against her throat. The violet glow in her eyes died instantly, replaced by wide-eyed fear.

"One more outburst," Kaelan said, his voice still a monotone whisper, "and I will personally ensure your consciousness is scattered across the void. We have a mission. Focus."

The tension was broken by a groan from Kaito, who was slowly pushing himself to his feet, wiping blood from his lip. He glared at Liliam, but there was a new respect, or perhaps fear, in his eyes. He looked from her to the now-stabilizing fissure in the barrier. "She made a crack," he grunted, pointing. "It's small, but it's something. Maybe we can use it."

Kaelan released Liliam, who shrank back, rubbing her throat. "Agreed," Kaelan said, turning back to the task as if the entire altercation had been a minor inconvenience. "Prepare the resonance charges. We're forcing our way in. They're running out of time in there."

Inside the swirling, dark abyss, the pressure was immense. Talus roared, a sound that was more a grinding of stone than a biological vocalization, as the tentacle constricted him further. Cracks spiderwebbed across his stone body, glowing with the faint light of his inner energy. He was being crushed, his colossal form beginning to buckle under the sheer physical might of a god.

Lupus, trapped in his cage of solidified water, snarled and thrashed. "Talus, you stubborn rock! Don't just stand there and take it! Use the environment!"

"WHAT ENVIRONMENT?!" Talus's voice boomed back, strained and pained.

"The water, you idiot! It's his! That means it's his weakness!" Lupus yelled, an idea sparking in his mind. He stopped struggling and closed his eyes, focusing his own energy inward. A low, guttural hum began to emanate from him, a frequency that clashed with the aquatic realm.

Barzakh's laughter faltered slightly. "What is this? A pathetic sonic attack? I am the ocean itself, you whelp! Your vibrations are nothing!"

But they were something. The cage holding Lupus began to vibrate, the water molecules destabilizing. At the same time, the water directly around the tentacle squeezing Talus began to bubble violently, not from heat, but from a discordant resonance. Talus, catching on, poured his own power into the frequency. He stopped pushing outward and instead began to vibrate in harmony with Lupus.

The effect was immediate and catastrophic. The tentacle wrapped around him, which was an extension of Barzakh's very being, began to convulse. The flesh, a grotesque mix of chitin and muscle, started to tear itself apart from the inside. Barzakh let out a genuine cry of pain and rage, his booming voice now laced with shock. The mountain-sized squid recoiled, flinging the now-freed Talus away.

"INSOLENT WORMS! YOU DARE TO HARM A GOD?!" Barzakh bellowed. The Kanji symbol on his mantle glowed with a furious, sickly green light.

The entire dimension shifted. The crushing pressure vanished, replaced by a sudden, horrifying emptiness. The water didn't recede; it simply ceased to be. In an instant, they were no longer in an ocean, but floating in the cold, airless void of space. Above them, a swirling vortex of purple and black energy coalesced, forming a colossal, spectral eye that stared down with infinite malice.

"You want to fight a god?" Barzakh's voice was now everywhere and nowhere, a psychic assault that threatened to shatter their minds. "Then face the cosmos that bows before me!"

From the vortex, a rain of meteorites began to fall, each one glowing with the same corrupt green energy as Barzakh's Kanji. They weren't just rocks; they were projectiles of pure, destructive force, aimed directly at the disoriented fighters.

Lupus, now free from his cage, looked around frantically. "Talus! The void! He's changed the rules! We need ground!" Talus, already shrinking back to his more manageable (though still large) size, looked at the incoming meteorites. "Ground?! I'll make ground!" he roared, slamming his fists together. A shockwave of earthy energy erupted from him, intercepting the first few meteorites in a shower of dust and rock, but there were too many. The fight had just become infinitely more complicated.

The meteorites rained down, each impact a thunderous explosion that rocked the very fabric of the void. Talus intercepted another, his stone arms cracking under the force. He grunted, pushing the shattered celestial body aside, but his eyes weren't on the incoming storm anymore. They were fixed on the spectral eye, a flicker of something new and dangerous in their depths.

Another meteorite screamed toward Lupus, who was weaving through the onslaught with desperate agility. Before it could connect, Talus moved. Not to block, but to catch. He caught the massive, glowing rock in one hand, the force of it driving him back a dozen feet, his feet digging trenches into the non-existent ground. He held it, his muscles straining, the green energy crawling up his arm like venom.

"Barzakh!" Talus's voice was different. It wasn't the booming roar of a titan or the determined shout of a warrior. It was a low, guttural growl that vibrated with a chilling, resonant frequency that cut through the explosions and the god's psychic assault. "What did you do to Hermes?"

The spectral eye blinked, its focus narrowing on Talus. For a moment, the rain of meteorites paused. A deep, curious laugh echoed through the void, a sound that was both amused and intrigued. "Hermes? The messenger? Oh, that was a... delightful bit of work. A necessary lesson in humility for those who would carry tales where they don't belong. Why do you ask, little stone? Did you fancy him?"

That was it. The last thread of restraint snapped.

Talus's roar was no longer a sound of this or any other reality. It was a discordant symphony of grinding tectonic plates, shattering geodes, and the deep, resonant hum of a planet's core being torn asunder. The meteorite he held dissolved, not into dust, but into screaming motes of light that were absorbed into his skin.

His transformation was a blasphemy against nature. His stone skin cracked and fell away, revealing not flesh, but a swirling galaxy of obsidian and crimson. His form elongated, his limbs twisting into impossible, multi-jointed appendages that ended in razor-sharp crystalline talons. His torso split open vertically, revealing a maw of spinning, razor-edged plates, like a geological event given hunger. His head dissolved into a writhing mass of black, thorned tendrils, and from the center of this chaos, a single, multifaceted eye of pure, molten gold opened, burning with an intelligence and hatred that dwarfed the stars.

He grew, expanding until he was a match for the squid, a being of jagged, crystalline horror and cosmic dread. Lovecraftian geometry warbled around him, defying physics and sanity. He was no longer Talus. He was an ancient, earth-bound rage given form, a primordial god of destruction awakened by a single, personal loss.

The new Talus, this thing of cosmic horror and geological fury, didn't speak with words. It spoke with action. One of its crystalline talons, now the size of a continent, swiped through the void. It didn't aim for the vortex or the eye. It aimed at space itself. The fabric of the dimension tore open under its touch, a wound of pure nothingness that began to hungrily devour the very meteorites Barzakh had summoned.
