Chapter 24 - hey little Strom

Morning.

Jay rushed downstairs.

Bag in one hand.

Phone in the other.

Hair half done.

Face determined.

Jeena turned—

And froze.

Jasfer looked up.

Then both…

Started laughing.

"Jay…"

Jeena tried to control her smile.

"What is this?"

Jay frowned.

"I'm going."

Jasfer leaned back.

"We can see that."

Jay rolled her eyes.

"Don't start."

Jeena laughed softly.

"You said you won't go."

Jay looked away.

"I changed my mind."

Jasfer smirked.

"Because Keifer is going?"

Jay snapped back instantly.

"No!"

Silence.

Then both parents looked at each other…

And laughed again.

Louder this time.

Jay groaned.

"Ugh… you both are so annoying."

Jeena walked to her.

Still smiling.

"My little girl…"

Jay frowned.

"I'm not little."

Jasfer chuckled.

"You are today."

Jay crossed her arms.

"Whatever."

Outside…

A car stopped.

Jay's eyes shifted immediately.

"Bye."

She rushed out.

Without waiting.

Jeena and Jasfer watched her go.

Still smiling.

Still amused.

Jeena whispered softly.

"She's completely gone."

Jasfer nodded.

"For him."

Outside…

Jay walked fast.

Then slowed down.

Trying to act normal.

Keifer leaned against the car.

Watching her.

Smirking.

"Took you ten minutes?"

Jay lifted her chin.

"Yes."

"Exactly ten."

Keifer laughed.

"Impressive."

Jay got into the car.

"Drive."

Keifer shook his head.

"Bossy."

Jay replied instantly.

"Only for you."

Keifer smiled.

And drove.

After a while…

They reached.

A resort.

Beautiful.

Open.

Bright.

Jay stepped out.

Looking around.

Then…

She saw them.

A group.

Standing together.

Laughing.

Waiting.

Girls.

Three of them.

Pretty.

No…

More than pretty.

Beautiful.

Cute.

Stylish.

Confident.

Jay stopped walking.

"…oh."

Keifer noticed.

"What?"

Jay didn't answer.

Her eyes still on them.

One girl waved.

"Keifer!"

Another smiled brightly.

"There you are!"

They walked closer.

Easy.

Familiar.

Jay felt something twist inside.

Again.

Stronger this time.

Keifer walked forward.

"Hey."

They greeted him casually.

Laughing.

Talking.

One of them looked at Jay.

"And this is?"

Keifer turned slightly.

Jay stood there.

Trying to stay calm.

Trying to stay normal.

But her eyes…

Scanning them.

Comparing.

Unconsciously.

Keifer spoke clearly.

"Jay."

A small pause.

Then…

"My fiancée."

Silence.

Just for a second.

Then smiles.

"Ohhh…"

"So she's the one."

Jay forced a smile.

"Hi."

They greeted her warmly.

Friendly.

Sweet.

But Jay's mind…

Elsewhere.

"They're so pretty…"

Her confidence dropped.

Just a little.

But enough.

She stood closer to Keifer.

Unconsciously.

Her fingers brushing his arm.

Then holding it.

Lightly.

But clearly.

Keifer noticed.

He glanced at her.

A small smile forming.

He didn't say anything.

Just let her hold him.

Comforting.

Reassuring.

But Jay's thoughts…

Still running.

"They're better…"

"Prettier…"

"More confident…"

Her grip tightened slightly.

Keifer leaned closer.

Whispered softly.

"Relax."

Jay didn't look at him.

"I am."

But she wasn't.

Not even close.

He added quietly…

"You're overthinking."

Jay whispered back.

"I'm not."

Keifer smiled faintly.

"You are."

Jay finally looked at him.

A little annoyed.

"Aren't they… too much?"

Keifer raised a brow.

"Too much?"

Jay nodded slightly.

"Look at them."

Keifer looked.

Then back at her.

Calm.

Unbothered.

Then softly…

"I am."

Jay blinked.

"What?"

Keifer leaned closer.

"I'm looking at you."

Silence.

Jay froze.

Her thoughts…

Stopped.

Just like that.

Keifer continued quietly.

"And I don't see anyone better."

Her grip loosened.

Then softened.

Her heart…

Eased.

Slowly.

A small smile appeared.

Uncertain…

But real.

And just like that…

Her little storm…

Began to calm.
