Avoiding Shen Wuyou was impossible but Luo Qingyan tried anyway. He woke up earlier, Shen Wuyou was already there. He hid in the courtyard, Shen Wuyou walked past. He climbed onto the roof.
"…You will fall."
Luo Qingyan nearly slipped.
"…STOP APPEARING LIKE THAT!"
Shen Wuyou stood below, completely unbothered.
"…You should come down."
"…You should stop haunting me!" Luo Qingyan said in frustration.
"…I am not haunting you."
"…You're haunting me." Luo Qingyan argued
Luo Qingyan stared at him.
"…You don't know how to be around people, do you?" Luo Qinyan asked
"…No."
Luo Qingyan sighed.
"…Come up here."
Shen Wuyou looked at him then in a single step he was beside him.
Luo Qingyan jumped.
"I DID NOT MEAN LIKE THAT"
The roof tiles shifted slightly.
The night was quiet, the wind soft and neither of them spoke for a while.
"…Why do you avoid me?" Shen Wuyou asked.
Luo Qingyan froze.
"…I don't."
"…You do."
"…Okay, maybe a little."
"…Why?"
Luo Qingyan hesitated then laughed lightly.
"…Because you're terrifying."
"…I will not harm you." Shen Wuyou said
"…I know. That was not the problem."
"…Then why?"
Luo Qingyan looked away. He looked at the sky at the endless stars.
"…Because you don't look at me like I'm a stranger."
There was silence between them.
"…You look at me like you already know me…and I don't know why."
The wind stilled.
For the first time Shen Wuyou did not answer immediately.
"…You will," he said finally.
"…That's not comforting." Luo Qingyan argued
"…It is not meant to be."
Luo Qingyan laughed softly.
"…You're really bad at this."
"…At what?"
"…Everything."
Shen Wuyou paused
"…I am learning."
Luo Qingyan blinked.
"…From who?"
Shen Wuyou looked at him.
"…You."
And just like that the distance between them felt smaller.
