Chapter 2 - chapter 2

Brielle

"Argh…" I groaned softly as I fluttered my eyes open, I shut them immediately, unable to take in the brightness of the room.

I opened my eyes slowly again, breathing slowly as my eyes relaxed and staring around, I realized I was in a white room.

"Are you okay dear? Do you feel any discomfort?" A woman demanded, waving her hands above my eyes and for a moment, I blanked out, trying to figure out how I got here and why I wasn't with the love of my life.

"Brielle… Are you okay?" She asked, tapping my shoulder and slowly, I nodded, groaning when I tried to move my body.

"Argh…"

"You were hit by a car and brought in by a guard, the injury is minor, you're good to go but if you wish to stay for more days, you can remain. I've alerted the alpha even though your bills have been sorted." She replied and I nodded, exhaling deeply.

"I'll just leave."

"Are you sure? I recommend..."

"I'm fine." I replied sternly and she nodded, swallowing words as she stepped back.

I groaned, biting my lips as the pain shot through my joint, although it was mild compared to the pain I was feeling in my heart.

Each step was filled with agony, my lips trembled but one way or the other, I managed to find my way towards the pack house, making me groan, if only I had another place to be at.

Walking into the house, I swallowed when I found Dylan in the living room with Lydia on his lap, she was mumbling something into his ear and giggling but everything stopped when I walked inside.

I tried to ignore them, biting my lips with one intention, leaving this house and marriage for good.

"Where the hell have you been?" He demanded, his voice harsh and Lydia rolled her eyes.

"Only the goddess knows, crying her eyes somewhere, I presume." Lydia added and I gulped down the lump in my throat.

"I… I had an… An accident last night…" I replied, trying very hard not to break into tears. Goddess knew if I had seen this side of him a week ago, I'd have refused him with everything in me.

A month ago, we discovered we were mates, everything has turned out well, he was the best man, or so I thought… He chased me, sent me flowers, courted me, stepped in to take care of mom's medical bills, made me stop working as a maid… It felt like he was an angel sent to me alone. He protected me from the preying guards, made everyone envious of me, only to shatter my hopes on our wedding night.

"Deservedly so." Lydia added and he frowned, taking a few steps towards me as he glanced at my bandaged leg.

"You have no right whatsoever to leave the house without my permission…" He growled as I began to limp backward.

His eyes were filled with rage, it was unlike anything I had encountered, it felt like I was with a monster and all I wanted to do was run out and run into MY Dylan to keep me safe but he was no more, the monster in front of me was the man I thought I knew and loved with everything inside me.

"I… I was kidnapped last night and they contacted you…"

"You're free, aren't you?" He replied without concern and I nodded, forcing back tears.

"I… I wish to have a divorce." The words flew out of my lips and Lydia burst into laughter while his rage deepened, his nose flaring.

"A divorce? Do you think you have any choice in this arrangement?" Lydia demanded, making me stunned as I stared from her to Dylan, wondering what they were talking about.

"Look in the mirror, you're nothing but a little thing who has been taken from wretchedness into a castle like this, don't you think it's questionable? Do you think a swine like you has what it takes to capture the heart of the alpha?" She asked, raising a brow as she walked over and I felt my heart shriveling as my heart began to pound at the same time, agony gnawing at my insides.

"Wh… What do you mean?" I asked, falling to the ground with little strength to rise.

Lydia chuckled, staring at Dylan who nodded once. "You're occupying my position because I don't want the work. We all know how needy the pack can be, wanting a Luna, having so many duties which a Luna needs to perform. Being bonded to you was a blessing in disguise. You do all the dirty work I hate and in return, you get to live a great life…" She paused, watching as a tear rolled down my cheek.

"What were you thinking? That the alpha is in love with you? Oh please, you're delusional." She taunted, bursting into laughter while Dylan said nothing.

I shook my head, finding this hard to believe. "Dy… She's… She's lying right? All we shared for a month… The love… The late night walks, the way you stared at me like I'm all that matters to you…" I stammered, my voice reducing as images flooded my head.

"Now that you know the truth, I hope you don't get in Lydia's way, do your job diligently, you and your mother will be well taken care of." Dylan replied coldly and my heart shook.

I shook my head slowly, my actions becoming aggressive as I rose to my feet. "No, you're not going to treat me this way… I… I yearn for love! I want to get married and have children out of love… I do not wish to have a loveless life…" I retorted, tears gushing out of my eyes and they both burst into laughter.

"Take a look at yourself, not even a guard would love you, you have no skills or qualification, you're a weak omega from the poorest family in the pack, I'm willing to change your life and in return, all I want you to do is act like the Luna and have kids for me, that is minimal compared to the benefits you'd get from this marriage!" Dylan snapped.

"No… I… I will not be a part of this, I want a divorce, I reject you as my mate." I replied and he chuckled, walking towards me as his eyes darkened with rage.

"It doesn't work that way, Brielle… You will go out there and perform your duties as my Luna, you will accept every gift I offer and whenever there's a full moon, you will pleasure me and birth me an heir! Guards, lock her up at the east wing." He thundered and two guards rushed forward, grabbing my arms.

"No! Let go of me! No! Argh… Please!" I yelled at the top of my voice as I was dragged to the second part of the house.
