Chapter 33 - Purge the Drowned WatchTower

Max was surprised by the type of set equipment he obtained. It was a Growth type of set equipment.

He could acquire a bonus if he reached a certain level, and a set equipment like this would evolve if his class evolved.

Although the Growth type set equipment could only grow for another rank, it was already a blessing for Max to receive it quite early.

Max immediately asked for the system to show the effects of the set equipment.

[Demon Investigator Set.

Effects:

+8% Mana Regeneration

+6% Spell Stability

+5% Demonic Mana Detection Range

+12% Damage Against Demon-type Entities

+20% Fear Resistance

+5% Casting Speed (Level 20)

+8% Mana Capacity (Level 40)

Residual Absorption (Passive): After defeating a demon entity, 7-10% of your mana is restored.]

Max drew a sharp breath. At this point, he was basically a demon hunter.

Of course, a demon hunter's equipment set was at the Epic rank, but the demon investigator set was still powerful for players, who had just begun their journey in exterminating the demons.

To think I've already gained two scaling bonus stat.

Max was also rewarded with 3000 EXP after completing the quest, enough for him to reach Level 40.

With +8% Mana Capacity, he had 432 Mana Points in total.

Furthermore, with the addition of +5% Casting Speed, his Arcane Bolt could be casted in less than two seconds.

His mana shield could be casted in less than 1.5 seconds.

He could easily take out his enemies by surprise. Furthermore, Max could dual-cast.

He was pretty much invincible against other players at this rate.

Not even the First Swordsman could wound him.

Max was over the moon after he received the rewards.

He randomly recalled Jaden and thought, No wonder, that guy became a franchise player and led his team to establish his guild that was only ranked behind by the Lewis Guild.

Max wasn't sorry at all that he had stolen the rewards and kept it to himself. He believed that a traitor doesn't deserve his pity.

"Gauging your reaction, you must have liked the rewards I've given to you."

Max beamed a smile. "Of course, I do. I'm really grateful for these rewards, Lieutenant.

You're the best!"

Lieutenant Garrick exploded into a hoot of laughter.

"You shouldn't thank me, thank the Royal Family. They were in full support for those young fledglings, who are born to fight against demons, like you.

Hence, they invested a lot in supporting you. If you think you owe me, then you should know that you owe it to the Empire.

Help the Empire drive the demons out.

The others' can take care of the monsters."

Max nodded with a serious countenance.

"Consider it done."

Lieutenant Garrick laughed out loud again and patted Max's shoulder lightly.

However, Max felt his shoulder bones were about to break.

Lieutenant Garrick said, "That's what I like.

Anyway."

His tone abruptly shifted again, catching Max's attention.

He said, "Since you are ready now, I will give you a quest. This might be harder than Archmage Arlen's quest."

Max's eyes widened. His face turned solemn as he nodded.

"I will do my best to complete it."

In fact, Max didn't know about the quest issued by the Lieutenant. He recalled Jaden did not mention it.

He thought. This might be another local rank quest.

"You can form the party you want, but it is best to be at D-Rank. Don't worry if the Greater Demon will engage, we always keep him in check.

The quest I have for you is to clear the dungeon in the Greyfen Village. We've already confirmed that even the guardian there is already at E-Rank.

If you succeed, I'll write a letter to the Royal Family about your contribution.

A contribution enough to receive an imperial recognition."

Max's eyes widened. His heart skipped a beat.

Imperial Recognition! No wonder, that guy became an Imperial Officer, helping him reach S-rank earlier than others.

So, it's because of this quest, huh?

Why did he not mention this in his video?

Max was not aware that the video he watched only covered the quest given by Archmage Arlen.

Jaden also posted another video about this quest, but Max was busy clearing the dungeon at that time until he visited the Lewis Auction Firms.

[You have triggered a village quest—Purge the Drowned WatchTower—issued by Lietunenat Garrick.

Location: 1.5km into marsh. It's a partially submerged ruin structure.

Threat Classification: Demonic Infestation (E-Rank Core Entity)

Primary Objective:

Eliminate the Core Guardian (E-Rank Demon) within the Drowned Watchtower.

Disrupt or neutralize the Rift Residue Crystal.

Secondary Objective:

Clear hostile entities within the inner ruin corridor.

Reduce demonic concentration within the structure.

Recover any identifiable Imperial remains or relic fragments.

Compilation Criteria:

Core Guardian is defeated.

Rift Residue Crystal is rendered inactive or destabilized.

Demonic activity in the Watchtower drops below the active threshold.

Rewards:

EXP (scaled to contribution.)

Copper/Silver currency compensation.

Chances of obtaining: minor relic fragments, materials, and low-rank demonic essence.

Special Reward: Imperial Recognition.]

Although the rewards seemed to lack the enthusiasm as the rewards given by Archmage Arlen, the special reward was already more than Max could ask for.

He gazed at Lieutenant Garrick and assured him.

"I will try my best to complete it."

Lieutenant Garrick beamed a smile. "You said it twice, I'm assured. If you haven't had a party yet, I can recommend some to you.

Better, you should visit each of the instructors to help them find the person you need."

Max bitterly smiled and nodded.

He was already adamant to complete the dungeon by himself. He wasn't keen on the idea of forming a party at all.

A party of players would drain his energy.

Just as he believed he didn't need to form a party, an idea popped up in his head.

Forming a party with players is a bad idea, but what if it's a party filled with NPC?

It's actually not a bad idea.

Max said, "Thank you. I will visit the instructors now."

Lieutenant Garrick guffawed. "I should be the one thanking you for bravely accepting this mission.

I hope the warriors they provide have the same enthusiasm as you."
