Chapter 12 - Episode 12: “The Truth He Can No Longer Hide”

The night after Riya's threat… no one slept.

Not the mansion.

Not Aanya.

And definitely not Rudra Rathore.

The broken phone still lay on the terrace floor.

Like a warning.

Like a promise.

Like a war that had already started.

Aanya sat on her bed, staring at her trembling hands.

Riya's words echoed again and again.

"You are mine."

"He doesn't belong to your world."

"I have copies."

But one voice echoed louder than all of them.

Rudra's.

"Enough."

A knock broke her thoughts.

Slow.

Controlled.

Familiar.

She opened the door.

And froze.

Rudra stood there again.

But this time… no rain.

No distance.

No mask.

Just him.

"You didn't sleep," he said quietly.

Aanya looked down.

"How do you expect me to sleep after everything?"

Silence.

Rudra stepped inside without asking.

That alone felt different tonight.

More personal.

He stood near the window.

Back turned.

Then spoke.

"I handled Riya."

Aanya's heart tightened.

"Handled… how?"

A pause.

Then Rudra turned slightly.

"She won't interfere again the same way."

Aanya's breath caught.

"What did you do?"

Rudra didn't answer immediately.

His silence was heavier than words.

Then finally—

"I reminded her who I am."

Aanya frowned.

"That's not an answer."

Rudra stepped closer.

Slow.

Controlled.

But something inside him felt… different tonight.

Not anger.

Not dominance.

Something honest.

"You want the truth?" he asked.

Aanya nodded slowly.

A long silence followed.

Then Rudra finally said it.

"I never planned to let anyone get close to me."

A pause.

"Especially not someone like you."

Aanya's heart skipped.

"But you did," she whispered.

Rudra looked at her directly.

"Yes."

No hesitation.

No denial.

Just truth.

The room felt smaller instantly.

Heavier.

Aanya whispered, "Why?"

Rudra stepped closer again.

Now only a few steps away.

"Because you didn't fear me."

A pause.

"You should have."

Aanya shook her head slightly.

"I did."

Rudra's gaze softened… just a fraction.

"But you stayed anyway."

Silence.

Aanya finally asked the question she had been avoiding.

"Do you feel something… for me?"

The room froze.

Even time felt still.

Rudra didn't answer immediately.

For the first time…

the gangster didn't have control over his words.

Then he said quietly—

"I tried not to."

A pause.

"But I failed."

Aanya's breath stopped completely.

Rudra looked away for a second.

Like admitting it cost him more than any war ever did.

"I don't know what this is," he said honestly.

"But I know what it is doing to me."

Aanya's eyes filled slightly.

Footsteps suddenly echoed outside the room.

Fast.

Urgent.

A guard rushed in.

"Sir… Riya ma'am—she left the mansion!"

Rudra's expression changed instantly.

Cold again.

Controlled again.

Gangster again.

But before he left…

he looked at Aanya one last time.

Long.

Silent.

Heavy.

"And now," he said quietly,

"the real problem begins."

He turned and walked out.

Aanya stood frozen.

Because she finally understood—

Riya didn't leave.

She escaped to start something bigger.

Something dangerous.

Something that would not just test Rudra Rathore…

but break everything between them.
