Chapter 43 - Episode 4: “Riya’s Dark Truth”

Aanya opened her eyes with a gasp.

She was back in the real world.

But something had changed.

Her hands were shaking.

And the pendant… was silent.

Too silent.

Riya stood in front of her, holding her shoulders tightly.

"Aanya! Look at me!"

Aanya blinked.

"…Rudra… I saw him."

Riya's expression hardened.

"You didn't see Rudra."

Aanya stepped back.

"I did! He was inside the system!"

Riya's voice dropped.

Cold.

Controlled.

"No."

A pause.

"You saw what the Core wanted you to see."

Aanya frowned.

"What are you hiding from me?"

Silence.

Riya didn't answer immediately.

For the first time… she looked unsure.

Then she said quietly—

"…Because I was there before you."

Aanya froze.

"…What?"

Riya turned away slowly.

"I knew Rudra Rathore before he became what he is."

Aanya's heartbeat slowed.

"You're lying."

Riya shook her head.

"No."

A pause.

"And I wasn't just his obsession."

She looked back at Aanya.

"…I helped build him."

Silence exploded.

Aanya whispered,

"…You what?"

Riya's eyes darkened.

"You think he became a gangster on his own?"

A pause.

"He was made to be one."

Aanya stepped back.

"That's not possible…"

Riya walked closer.

"Everything about him… strength, emotion control, even his violence…"

A pause.

"…was tested."

Aanya's voice trembled.

"…By who?"

Riya didn't answer directly.

Instead—

she pulled out a small encrypted device.

And pressed play.

A distorted voice filled the air.

Older.

Colder.

"Subject R-01 shows extreme emotional attachment development when exposed to Variable A."

Aanya's eyes widened.

"…Rudra…"

Riya continued.

"This isn't love, Aanya."

A pause.

"It's conditioning."

Aanya shook her head violently.

"No… he chose me!"

Riya stepped closer.

"Did he?"

A pause.

"Or did the system make you the only thing he couldn't lose?"

Silence crushed everything.

Suddenly—

the pendant in Aanya's hand flickered again.

But this time…

Rudra's voice didn't come.

Instead—

a new voice echoed.

Unknown.

Female.

Calm.

"HE IS NOT THE ONLY EXPERIMENT."

Aanya froze.

"…What?"

Riya's eyes widened slightly.

For the first time… fear.

Aanya whispered,

"Who is that?"

The voice replied.

"I AM VARIABLE A-00."

A long silence followed.

Riya whispered under her breath,

"…It's awake."

Aanya turned sharply.

"What is A-00?!"

Riya stepped back slowly.

"That's the first prototype."

A pause.

"The one before Rudra."

Aanya's blood ran cold.

"…There was someone before him?"

The pendant glowed violently again.

And Rudra's broken voice finally returned.

But weaker.

Strained.

"Aanya… don't trust her…"

Aanya cried out softly,

"Rudra! Where are you?!"

A pause.

Then—

"I'm not alone anymore…"

The pendant shattered light into the air.

And a final message appeared in glowing code:

"A-00 LINK ESTABLISHED WITH HEART VARIABLE."

Aanya looked up slowly.

"…I'm connected to something else now."

Riya whispered,

"No…"

A pause.

"…you're connected to the origin."

And somewhere far beneath everything…

something older than Rudra's system… finally woke up.
