Chapter 1 - : Global Apocalypse - Zombies?

The Top Fast Station!

It was a busy day like every other. Three students from Top Fast Academy were heading towards the train.

One, in particular, did not care about his surroundings and was rather busy with his phone.

The moment he came out of the school, his friends saw him with his phone. They were shocked, since phones were not allowed.

However, Cain shrugged it off, saying rules were meant to be broken.

"At least pay attention while walking," the only girl among the three said, averting his path from hitting several civilians.

But Cain was so invested in the game he was playing.

"That survival game again? Dude, touch some grass," said the other male. Unlike Cain, Tuck was bigger and muscular.

Owen didn't have time for games and instead invested his attention in his body.

The latter smiled. "Touch grass?" he asked. "Dude, I just started this game," he added.

Soon after, the three of them entered the Top Fast train. With several passengers inside, they managed to be among those seated.

Except Owen, who preferred standing.

"So what's this game about anyway?" the girl asked. Mikasa wasn't from the United States, unlike Cain and Owen.

Her father owned a dojo. She had just traveled here to study at the school on a scholarship.

But when she arrived, while others saw her as a weak, fragile girl, Owen and Cain would somehow always be around.

With these constant meetings, they decided to be friends. Even when Mikasa's father couldn't keep up with her rent, she moved in with Cain and his mom.

"It's a survival game," Cain explained. "This is my avatar, but it has been infected by a virus called the green disease. To survive, I have to infect other players," he added with a smile.

Mikasa felt her cheeks flush—not because Cain was a handsome, red-haired guy with pink lips, but because he barely smiled.

Everyone in school portrayed him as an emotionless person.

"Oh," was all she said while peeping at his gameplay. She was truly impressed by his focus, determination, and overall skill.

Suddenly, when the train stopped for the next passengers, a middle-aged man in a grey suit stood alone outside.

However, when the door opened, he just stood there.

The longer he stood there, the more impatient a man among the passengers grew. He was with his girlfriend.

"Are you coming in or not?" he urged.

"Dude, get in already. I've got an interview I can't afford to miss," said another.

Out of everyone, Owen noticed blood dripping onto the floor, particularly from the man's arm.

"Guys—"

Before Owen could draw his friends' attention to the situation, the man took a snarling step in. He was pale.

"Tsk, motherfucker, get in already."

The impatient guy with his girlfriend stood up and grabbed the man by the collar. However, something else happened...

The pale-skinned man suddenly came alive when the guy's hand came closer. In one swift movement, he latched onto the man and pinned him to the ground.

Owen's heart skipped a beat. "Cain, stop ga—"

He couldn't complete his words as the horrifying scene unfolded. Blood pumped from the man's neck as he was bitten. He kept yelling; however, everyone in the train, including his girlfriend, moved away.

Soon, the bleeding man stood up, with blood dripping down his maw. His movement was slow, as if he were dragging his feet on the ground.

His two hands stretched out, as if begging for a hug.

"Johnny, are you—" the guy's girlfriend quickly squatted beside her boyfriend. However, she was next.

The commotion quickly pulled Cain out of his game. He had witnessed how the man bit his girlfriend, and all three were now moving the same way.

"Zo...ombieeee!!!" a random passenger yelled.

In that moment, all three zombies latched at him. Before Cain could understand what was happening, the whole train was in chaos.

"Owen, we gotta get out of the train," said Cain.

"Graaaahhhh!!!"

But he didn't see the zombie that jumped on him. It was the old lady sitting opposite him earlier.

Cain's eyes widened in sheer terror. A set of foul, rotten teeth was only a meter from his face...

But before the old lady could reach him, Mikasa spun around and landed a clean roundhouse kick against her gut.

The kick was so hard they heard her neck crack. It twisted around, yet she still stood up, wanting to feed.

Cain swallowed. "Tha—thank you, Mikasa," he muttered.

It was good having a karate expert's daughter as a friend after all.

"Come on, we gotta get out before the whole train gets infected!" Owen yelled.

He had managed to clear a path to the door, and any zombie that came closer, he smashed their heads against the pole.

Surprisingly, they stopped moving. "Come on!" Owen yelled again.

Everywhere you looked in the train, it was covered with blood—humans eating humans, screams loud enough to compete with an MP4 bass speaker.

As quickly as they could, the trio got out of the train.

"Shit, they're outside too?" Cain gritted his teeth. 'Mom,' he thought.

The zombies were still outside, but they couldn't keep up, since they were slow, mindless creatures.

"What the hell is going on?" Owen asked, though he wasn't expecting any answers from his friends.

The outside was even worse than the train. Blood painted every corner, and the smell was extremely foul.

"He-help..."

The trio suddenly stopped halfway towards the exit. The security guard to their left pleaded for help.

He was holding a door, blocking a few zombies from bursting through.

"Come, Cain, don't be stupid."

Cain didn't let Owen finish. He dashed towards the man's direction and helped push the door.

But then a zombie's hand burst through the glass, causing the man's grip to falter. He fell on his butt, staring at Cain.

"I'm—I'm sorry," was the next thing Cain heard.

"What?"

The security guard quickly stood up and ran away from the door, leaving Cain to face whatever was coming through.

After all, the door was already cracked. Any moment now, it would split in two.
