Introduction: A Short Story

The meeting of two lovers after many long years.

Girlfriend: Can you recognize me?

Boyfriend: Your face is not something one can forget.

Girlfriend: We are meeting after a very long time, aren't we?

Boyfriend: After exactly three years and two months. How are you?

Girlfriend: I am doing well. And you...?

Boyfriend: I am always doing well. But why are you on this road all of a sudden today?

Girlfriend: Do you remember walking on this road every afternoon, holding hands?

Boyfriend: Everything is a memory. Not everything can be forgotten.

Girlfriend: Did you get married?

Boyfriend: I won't get married in this lifetime.

Girlfriend: Do you still love me?

Boyfriend: I don't know. But I don't wait for anyone anymore, nor do I wait for anyone's call.

Girlfriend: And what about your wounded pride (Abhiman)?

Boyfriend: You can't show that to everyone. The one I show it to, leaves. What is the point of having pride anymore?

Girlfriend: Are you still angry?

Boyfriend: I don't even have the right to be angry anymore.

Girlfriend: Why are you smoking cigarettes?

Boyfriend: If the poisonous smoke of nicotine can keep my pain away, then why call it a poison?

Girlfriend: Do you still write poems?

Boyfriend: The rhythm of the poems has been lost.

Girlfriend: And stories?

Boyfriend: The queen of the stories is lost.

Girlfriend: Find a new queen.

Boyfriend: The old one hasn't grown old yet.

Girlfriend: If I return, will you accept me?

Boyfriend: I don't want to write a story all over again. I am fine, you stay well too.

Girlfriend: I still... to you...

Boyfriend: I don't want to hear it, and I don't want to dream anew. I have work to do, I'm leaving.

Girlfriend: When will we meet again?

Boyfriend: Whenever destiny decides.
