Felix, after taking a shower, bonded with Cooper and Oxley for a while, showing to them what he summoned. At first, they were disappointed to see Felix being alone without his beast but when they heard he summoned a sword instead, they were shocked.
They gazed at the sword in a daze.
Then, they glanced at Felix filled with worries, knowing how important for Felix the summoning was. He kept telling them if he summoned a beast, he would certainly introduce it to them.
However, when they perceived Felix continue being optimistic of his future, they were relieved and eagerly listening to him.
Eventually, Sarah called him for dinner.
…
During dinner, they ate for quite a long time. Words were uttered back and forth more than the amount they chewed the food.
Felix's parents had to assure him again and again to take everything slowly. They inevitably knew of his desire, to help them out of poverty and shoulder the financial expenditure of his younger sister in a coma. But at his current condition, it was near impossible.
The result of the summoning already told him he had to focus on himself first—discover his newly strange summon before thinking of improving their state of life.
In the end, Felix was convinced. He was aware he was overly pessimistic of their financial situation.
He also told them he would leave tomorrow to become a disciple of the Azure Cleave Dojo Master and might have to stay for two months straight there.
Felix was already used to being away to his parents—a primary reason why he was distant to them in terms of communication.
Sarah and Noah congratulated him, and not forgetting to remind him he should visit his younger sister once in a while, too. The hospital was located at the upper inner ring of the city, which was closer to where Felix would stay for the next two months than their house.
Felix promised he would definitely visit his younger sister after the day he settled in the dojo.
At the moment, Felix was sitting in a lotus position with the sword on his lap.
In front of him, in the main bed, was his parents sitting in a lotus position too, with their pets on their lap.
Every Beast Tamer does it everyday and calls it meditation. They harnessed the energy of the world and improved the energy on their body and their beasts.
It's their way of cultivation where their and their beasts' bodies would enhance and evolve—expelling impurities and being replaced by new energy.
It was why humans would last for more than a hundred years of age, and being a middle-aged man made it seem like they were still younger.
Furthermore, the amount of energy they possessed in their body determined their rank as Beast Tamer. Of course, unlike Felix, they didn't have a guide.
They simply felt like they made a breakthrough and kept track of it. If they wanted to have a deep analysis of their body and their beast, they would have to ask the Beast Tamer Association for an assessment.
The Beast Tamer Association had developed advanced technology, where they didn't have to rely on a crystal ball to give them an idea of the rank they and their beasts had achieved.
They could assess an individual into five aspects—their strength, speed, stamina, mental state, and skills' efficiency.
After all, a Beast Tamer could obtain a skill of their beasts even when they were still at the Common rank.
A citizen would have a chance to assess themselves on the Beast Tamer Association once every month for free. It wasn't surprising—it was very important to be aware of their every aspect as Beast Tamer, even if they were an ordinary citizen like Felix's parents.
Furthermore, they pay taxes, too.
Thankfully, the Chambers Family, who have been the mayor of Chambers City for three generations, were kind to their citizens.
Felix glanced at his parents who had begun their meditation. They, with their beast pet, were closing their eyes.
Since they summoned a beast with a potential stuck at the Common rank, it was near impossible for them to progress higher than the Awakener rank as a Beast Tamer, too. It was why the fire summoning from the black, obsidian obelisk was very important—it decided their future.
It has been more than four thousand nine hundred ninety six years since Beast Tamer ruled the world. According to history, humanity was a developing civilization where the world had not been subjected to energy that changed the fate of humanity.
When wild and demonic beasts manifested through the space rifts, humanity, which was always at war with each other, were almost wiped out. Thankfully, when the black, obsidian obelisk suddenly appeared, humanity were given a chance to summon a beast, who could fight for them.
It was really ironic. It was the beasts that almost wiped them out, but they survived with the help of similar creatures.
However, Felix was not like them. Instead of summoning a beast, he summoned a sword instead.
He glanced at the sword on his lap and caressed it. Strangely though, it might appear as rusty, but the smell of rust and its dusty properties were absent.
Felix asked the guide by speaking aloud on his head.
"Guide, can you tell me if the meditation my parents' are doing is also the same as the meditation in my sword?"
[Yes. Like them, you just have to empty your mind and communicate with the sword. Once the communication was established, the energy would instantly be attracted to you, and thus entering straight to your body.]
Felix followed the Guide's words and closed his eyes, attempting to communicate with the Flowing Rain Sword. As soon as he did so, he suddenly found himself in the same vast expanse of ocean standing atop it.
However, the sky was not clear. There were grey clouds scattering on every part of the ocean and raindrops began to pour down.
Felix was stunned. For some reason, he seemed to be in another place but he could feel his breathing in reality.
He stared at one rain drop at a time and began to synchronize his breathing to their rhythm…
