Chapter 143 - The Gacha Salt

John P.O.V.

Having infinite energy sounds like a dream come true. You read about it in manga, you see it in games, and you think: 'Wow, unlimited mana. I could spam my ultimates forever. I'm basically a god.'

But fiction doesn't account for certain issues.

I had been sitting cross-legged on the remains of Lincoln's Nose for more than thirty minutes.

I had been forced to sit down and meditate to focus all of my attention on holding down the flood of energy trying to escape my body. If I didn't, I was going to accidentally vaporize the entire North American continent.

I wasn't sure how durable my body was at the moment and maybe it was my special constitution, considering I could house dozens of powers all at once, but I didn't have too much of an issue holding back this overflowing energy.

My body was constantly trying to output the energy because there was nowhere else for it to go.

It was exhausting.

It was a completely different kind of exhaustion than having an empty mana pool.

I kept my eyes squeezed shut, my fingers steepled in the air as if mimicking the action of forcing down a lid.

'Just breathe,' I told myself, feeling the tectonic plates grinding against each other miles beneath the crust. 'Treat the world like it's made of wet tissue paper. Don't flex. Don't sneeze. For the love of God, do not sneeze.'

"Master?"

Nakime's soft voice pulled me out of the trance.

I didn't open my eyes since I couldn't risk the flare of energy. "Yeah?"

"You are sweating," she said quietly.

I felt her cool fingers gently wipe a bead of glowing, purple-tinged sweat from my forehead. She was standing right beside me, completely unfazed by the suffocating aura I was leaking.

"I'm fine," I grunted through my clenched teeth. "Just... trying not to accidentally break the planet in half."

"The relocation is proceeding efficiently," she reported, her voice maintaining that soothing, musical cadence. "Meruem and Levy have routed nearly a billion humans from the refugee dimensions into the Mansion of the Boundary. It's really amazing despite being so different from my castle; it even changes itself to accommodate every need of its resident, creating perfect replicas of the little one's home, school, and playground."

"Good," I muttered. At least, that was one massive problem solved. Eight billion humans were going to get safely tucked away into an impenetrable Divine fortress.

Then an idea wormed into my head, what if I poured out this energy inside the Mansion of Boundary? The dimension could probably handle it, but I didn't know if I would be able to avoid collateral.

No, too risky.

Plus, Earth was still dying.

The Entity had completely destabilized the planet during its cosmic temper tantrum. The core was cooling rapidly. The oceans were boiling. And worst of all, massive chunks of the shattered moon were still caught in Earth's gravity well, raining down in a slow yet apocalyptic meteor shower.

I needed a planetary-scale fix.

I could punch a meteor shower away, but to save the world I needed something specific. Something that could staple the planet back together.

I still had four Mythical Gacha Tickets left from the raid boss rewards.

'Alright, RNGesus,' I thought. 'I need a miracle. Don't screw me on this.'

I isolated the first Mythical ticket and mentally tore it.

The holographic wheel spun in the darkness of my mind. The pink light flashed brightly as the ticking sound echoing in my skull before it clicked to a halt.

[Divinity Necromancy]

|Divine Ability|

You posess the divinity, the ability to use the dead as your own army and servants, you can turn the corpse of the even the average man into an Undead Dragon or a Gravelord, you can animate any corpse into a True Undead that keeps all of their abilities and memories from when they were alive and further empower them with your divinity, as long as it is dead, you can command them. Although the power of the undead you can raise and the amount you can control at once scales with your own power levels, even as a base human, you can control up to 100000 undead at once.

I sat still on my rock.

Before I could even process the text, my shadow realm exploded as I felt it sync terrifyingly well with the Shadow Monarch ability.

The ability infused my existing shadows with unadulterated divinity of the dead, though I don't know how that works just yet.

I could feel it through the link as Thokk, the Evil Marks and even the sleeping Omnipotus and every single familiar I owned, suddenly felt their conceptual weight multiply by a thousand. They roared in unbridled ecstasy as their auras spiked, celebrating the massive, divine buff that just washed over their souls.

But the problem was they were getting too hyped.

'I am trying to not glass this continent,' I thought, my eye twitching behind my closed eyelids. 'And my basement is throwing a rave.'

My control slipped.

My eyes snapped open. A violent, concentrated beam of pure purple energy flared from my irises, tearing through the air and instantly vaporizing a falling meteor miles above us.

"Kneel."

I didn't say it out loud. I forced the absolute, divine command down through the shadow link, crushing the celebration with the sheer weight of my will.

Instantly, the shadow realm went dead silent.

Thokk froze mid-swing. The Evil Marks dropped to the floor. Every single shadow in my army instantly knelt, rendered completely motionless by the oppressive, suffocating authority of their monarch.

I took a deep breath, reining the purple flare in my eyes back under control.

'That's better,' I muttered internally.

There was one massive upside, though. Shadow Levy, who was currently working with Meruem to rehabilitate the planet's entire population, received the divine buff as well. Because his power scaled with mine, and I had infinite energy, Levy's portal capacity skyrocketed.

Through the link, I watched the evacuation numbers jump from one billion to over four billion in a matter of minutes. Levy was opening dozens upon dozens of massive, glowing rifts, funneling entire cities into the Mansion of the Boundary.

I looked at the final Mythical ticket and mentally tore it.

The wheel spun again and I saw it came to a halt.

[Imagine Breaker]

|Legendary Ability|

Toaru - The Illusion Killer, Imagine Breaker is the ultimate negation tool. Being able to negate anything supernatural that couldn't possibly exist on base Earth. The Imagine Breaker dwells in your right hand but as it is so powerful, it also negates your own supernatural capabilities, such as abilities, magic etc. for as long as it is active

(Note: This is only the base Imagine Breaker and does not contain the beings sealed inside)

A strange, numb tingling sensation instantly manifested in my right hand.

And then, everything stopped.

The infinite firehose of energy roaring through my veins suddenly hit a brick wall.

Even my active abilities like Shadow Monarch, Divine Necromancy, Greedy Healing, Super Polymerization and many more, all of them instantly flatlined.

'Oh shit!' my eyes widened in pure panic.

Down in the Mansion, the connection to Levy flickered. The dozens of portals rehabilitating the refugees began to aggressively stutter, threatening to snap shut and cut millions of people in half.

I didn't even think and instantly willed the Imagine Breaker to deactivate.

The numbness in my right hand vanished. The infinite energy roared back to life, and Levy's portals stabilized just before they could collapse.

I let out a shaky breath, sweat pouring down my face.

'Good for later,' I thought, my heart hammering against my ribs. 'Absolutely disastrous for right now.'

'This is fine,' I told myself, feeling the veins throbbing in my temples. 'Two good pulls, but still not useful to my predicament. It happens to the best of us. RNGesus is just building anticipation. It's the classic trap. The next one has to be the jackpot.'

Moving on to the 4 Mythical tickets I had, I tore the first one, praying to every ROB for a super repair tool, world-class healing spell, or just anything useful.

The wheel clicked.

[Master Kama Sutra]
