~ Corvus Black - POV ~
~ Kings Cross Station, London ~
After my mostly uneventful first year came to a close, I boarded the Hogwarts Express with the other two hundred and something school mates of the last school year. The spoil of the year tucked away in my Undetectable Extension Charmed trunk—one Horcrux infested diadem that once belonged to one of Hogwarts founder's, and a personal favorite of mine, Rowena Ravenclaw.
In my previous life I totally identified as a Ravenclaw, even got sorted as one in that online questionnaire you would happen upon while Doom-scrolling on any older social media platforms. At first I believed myself to be more of a Gryffindor, as I was prone to acting before thinking about the situation. But I realized later on that my acting before thought was less about me being Gryffindorish and more about my tendency to blindly jumping in to defend a friend, or comrades-in-arms during my military and mercenary career. I even have some Hufflepuff traits and definitely acquired some Slytherin traits after my 'reincarnation', if you can even call it that.
Though they say that people can possess multitudes, I've never previously been one to deeply contemplate on myself or the many facets of my personality. Though it seems like dying and being left to wonder the Void of existence, with an overpowered inherited template from a fictional universe, seems to really be a great motivator for some deep self reflection. And I'm happy to say I like myself, not so much my choices or actions in my previous life, but who I've become and whom I am becoming.
That's all any of us can truly ask for out of ourselves isn't it. That we are a better version of ourselves than we were on the previous day, month, or year. Say what you want about change not always being a good thing but it beats being stagnant for the rest of your day's—being stuck in a constant loop day in and day out while everyone and everything around you constant changes.
'Weird, I really seem to be in a very philosophical mood today. Is it because I've just finished my first year at Hogwarts or just being in the actual universe making me more self reflective as a whole?... Doesn't really matter at the end of the day. As long as I keep on my path and the big man's (main body) plans for the future across the infinite omniverse, we'll probably have constant moments of self reflection and contemplation.'
As I quietly sat within my cabin, which I luckily had to myself, on the Hogwarts Express, lost in my head contemplating to myself growth. I hadn't even realize that hour's had passed by and that we were already pulling into the hidden wizarding section of Kings Cross Station, the Hogwarts Express coming to a stop at the infamous Platform 9 3/4.
'That is definitely why I'll and always will be a Ravenclaw no matter which House I was sorted into, that tendency to overthink and my nerdish love for a good book. Not that I'm complaining, I love that about myself.'
Lifting my trunk down from the overhead, I shrink it down with a Shrinking Charm before stuffing it into my pocket. I then head out to start making my way of the train, trying to make it towards the door's before the other students crowd the way out. As I make it towards the compartments exit I spot my favorite bubblegum-pink haired preteen of this universes.
"Hey there Nymphadora, how's my second favorite Metamorphmagus doing? Any big plans for the summer holidays?" I call out to her teasingly as she waited by the door of the compartment.
As I'm walking up I take in her looks. I've noticed that this universe's version of the characters looks are a mixed bag of their movie, books, and or a combination of both.
In the books Nymphadora Tonks is described as having a somewhat round, pale face, dark eyes, and short, spiky hair. Her hair is famously changeable. At different points it appears bright pink, purple, or other colors, rather than being naturally fixed to one style. Her appearance tends to reflect her energetic, rebellious personality. In the movies Natalia Tena's portrayal gives Tonks a somewhat more mature, punk-inspired, rebellious aesthetic than the books. She has a distinctive alternative appearance, with short, brightly colored hair, dark clothing, heavy boots, and a generally casual, slightly disheveled style. Her most recognizable movie appearance is her vivid pink hair, which became closely associated with the character.
If I had to say which version she leans more towards, in attitude and personality, I'd lean more towards Natalia Tena's portrayal of her, a sexy pixie punk rock girl in the making. But if we're just basing it completely just on her looks I'd have to say that she looks neither version's description. Both her looks and personality actually reminds me more of a younger, as she like myself is still only twelve at the moment, Florence Pugh than anyone else.
At the moment though, instead of a badass Florence Pugh actress extraordinaire or Yelena Belova the Thunderbolts Black Widow, she's just Nymphadora Tonks: A twelve-year-old witch with an infectious grin, constantly changing hair, a talent for getting herself into trouble, and considerably more courage than common sense.
"If it isn't Slytherins pretty-boy Prince. Aren't you tired of trying to get a rise out of me by now Black. Shouldn't you be surrounded by your snake groupies or something? And for the billionth time stop calling me by my name, next time I'm seriously going to send a Stinging Jinx straight at your face." She fried back when she saw me coming close and realized that we were the only two at the door at the moment.
She is also not my biggest fan, even though she has a secret crush on me. A crush that seems to be obvious to everyone else other than herself if her hair is any indication of her feelings towards me. A vibrant redish-pink that only seems to color her hair when I'm around.
"Groupies, huh. Not exactly what I would call them but you're not completely wrong, I left them to their own devices as I needed some time to myself. As for your name, I still don't understand why you don't like it, your mother picked a beautiful name for you, you should be proud of it, Nym– whoa okay, easy there!" I was saying in response to her before I got her 14" wand shoved in my face.
'I'm definitely going to be pursuing her in the future, she's feisty.'
