Chapter 205 - Chapter 207: The Second Singularity

In the scenic Pyrenees Mountains, a fawn, led by its mother, came to a mountain stream to drink.

The chirping of birds and the sound of the breeze through the trees made this ancient mountain range look naturally harmonious.

Suddenly, the doe raised its head alertly, looking at the thick smoke rising from a distant mountaintop, let out a low cry to the fawn, and quickly disappeared into the mountains with the birds startled into flight.

Then, plume after plume of thick smoke rose from the peaks of the Pyrenees Mountains like a relay race, and thunderous horns began to sound continuously. This was not just smoke, but human signal fires.

Accompanied by the horns, one after another, exhausted-looking troops with tattered equipment surged out like a tide from caves, fortresses, and forests throughout the Pyrenees Mountains. However, one could tell from the soldiers' death-defying gazes that this was an elite force that had survived a hundred battles.

Then, one after another, blue fleur-de-lis battle flags symbolizing the French Royal Family were raised. Under the guidance of the flags, the armies from all over the mountains quickly formed neat lines in an open space halfway up the mountain.

"Roar~!"

At the same time, beast-like roars came from the woods at the foot of the mountain. First, two battle flags depicting a black dragon and a Red Dragon appeared, followed by a tide of troops and Wyverns rushing out from the forest. These soldiers were clearly different from normal humans; their dark, shiny skin and glowing red eyes made one think of zombies.

Gilles de Rais, the Marshal of the French Army, wearing full plate armor, rode a sturdy horse, shuttling back and forth in front of the phalanxes, loudly giving speeches to boost the soldiers' morale.

"Soldiers! This is the last line of defense for France, we have nowhere to retreat!"

"Are you willing to let your parents, wives, and children be slaughtered by monsters?"

"Are you willing to become that abominable shape?"

"Are you willing to become slaves to Egypt?"

"The Lord is watching us, watching us warriors who fight for Him..."

Just hundreds of meters behind the army, on a fortress on the mountaintop, Shakespeare, holding a piece of parchment and recording it all with a quill, looked up with an exaggerated expression, making it obvious he was acting.

"Oh~! Marshal Gil's speech is still so poor, it really ruins this epic masterpiece. What do you think, Queen Marie Antoinette?"

Marie Antoinette, who was standing on the fortress wall with Shakespeare praying for the soldiers below, turned her head and revealed her enchanting face.

"Shakespeare, Marshal Gil has been fighting for half a month..."

Shakespeare's eyes lit up. He lowered his head and quickly wrote something on the parchment with his quill, while muttering to himself.

"Out of words already? It doesn't matter, let me prepare for Marshal Gil..."

Suddenly, the Wyverns and the zombie army that had emerged from the woods let out a series of roars. Then, the Wyverns began to carry the knights into the sky, while the zombies, accompanied by war drums, maintained their formation and charged at the army on the hillside.

Seeing the enemy charging, Gilles stopped his speech, pulled on the reins, rushed towards the archer positions, and shouted continuously.

"Long live France~!"

This slogan seemed even more inspiring than the previous speech by Marshal Gil. Every time Gilles passed a formation, a thunderous reply would come.

"Long live France!"

However, Gilles was in no mood to pay attention to the soldiers' morale at this moment. Upon arriving at the archer position, Gilles quickly raised his Noble Phantasm and ordered.

"Archers, ready~!"

Cold, gleaming arrowheads pointed at the charging enemies down the mountain following Gilles' command, waiting for his final order.

Gilles didn't make the archers wait too long. The moment the enemy entered range.

"Fire! Free fire!"

Then Gilles turned his horse's head and walked a few steps to the front of the formation and shouted.

"Infantry, ready! Cavalry, follow me!"

With that, Gilles quickly led the cavalry to maneuver towards the flank of the enemy formation.

The first wave of arrows from the French Army quickly submerged the enemy formation below, making the first batch of enemies hit by the arrow rain sparse, but soon the enemy's counterattack fell on the archers' heads.

Dozens of Wyverns carrying knights in the sky began to dive, quickly landing in the archer formation. With roars, they cooperated with the knights on their backs to wreak havoc in the archer positions.

The French archers were not panicked. Soon, under the command of some officers, they split into two groups. One group picked up spears from the ground to besiege the landed Wyverns, while another group regrouped behind the position and continued to rain merciless arrows on the enemy.

As the battle began, the gate of the fortress in the rear slowly rose a person's height. A large group of peasant women carrying simple stretchers rushed out of the fortress with nervous expressions, heading towards the various battlefields on the hillside.

Although the women were either numb or panicked, not one retreated. They quickly arrived at various parts of the battlefield to carry the wounded back to the fortress, and even with swords and spears upon them, or facing the bloody mouths of the Wyverns, not one ran away.

Just as the two sides were fighting fiercely, a faint light fell on a distant peak.

This mountain, far higher than the others, was covered in snow, so there were no signal fires here, allowing the visitors from Chaldea to arrive without being discovered by any faction.

"Achoo! It's so cold! Master, where is this? Does France have such a cold place?"

Gudako, wearing a thin Master Mystic Code, hugged her chest with one hand and pressed down her skirt, which was being filled with cold wind, with the other, shivering as she asked Rin.

Rin's ears twitched slightly, then Rin reached out and patted Gudako and Fujimaru Ritsuka beside her, pointing to a protruding rock in front.

Accompanied by Rin's touch, Gudako and Fujimaru Ritsuka quickly felt a warmth that took away the chill and blocked the cold wind.

"Are we on a mountaintop? Could we be in the Alps?"

Gudako's mind immediately jumped to the most famous mountain range in Europe.

"I don't know either, but let's ask Da Vinci, she must know!"

As she spoke, Rin turned on the communicator, opened the projection, and began to ask about the situation in this Singularity.

"Rin, the measurements are still ongoing, but the general scope is out. The scope of this Singularity includes the British Isles, France, the Iberian Peninsula, and the entire North Africa. Based on the positioning, you should be in the Pyrenees Mountains now!"

"Tsk! Why is it so big again?"

Touko appeared on the projected light screen with a gloomy face, pushing Da Vinci aside, and said to Rin word by word.

"Director~! Is it not good if it's big?"

Rin looked at Touko's expression and smiled sheepishly at her.

"Of course it's good! Of course it's good!"

Rin wouldn't say that she had forgotten about the supply list earlier.

At this time, Gudako, who had climbed onto the rock Rin pointed to, suddenly shouted to everyone.

"Come and look! There's a battle going on below!"
