Chapter 62 - 62 - A Little Bitchy

Kushi froze, the playful, seductive energy that had been building between us instantly evaporating, replaced by a cold, stark fear. Her eyes, which had been dark with desire, were now wide with shock and a dawning, nervous comprehension. "What... what do you mean?" she stammered, her voice a small, fragile thing.

I didn't answer with words. I just looked at her, my gaze steady, unwavering, letting the silence hang between us, letting my intentions sink in. I watched as the realization dawned on her, as the last vestiges of her playful bravado crumbled away to reveal the scared girl underneath.

"No," she said, shaking her head, her voice a firm, panicked rejection. "I... I've never done that before. Sid, no."

"Everything is a first time," I said softly, my voice a low, persuasive murmur. I reached out and gently brushed a stray strand of hair from her cheek, my touch a stark contrast to the raw, depraved promise I had just made.

She looked scared, truly scared. Her body was tense, her eyes darting around the room as if searching for an escape. I could see the war raging within her, the desire to please me warring with a deep-seated, primal fear. I decided to show her a different side of the king.

I leaned in and kissed her, a sweet, gentle kiss, a complete reversal of the hard, demanding kiss from moments before. It was a kiss of reassurance, of understanding. "It's okay," I whispered against her lips. "We don't have to. We can do it some other day. Or never. It's up to you."

The tension seemed to drain out of her body, her shoulders slumping in relief. A small, grateful smile touched her lips. "Really?" she asked, her voice barely a whisper.

I nodded, and we kissed again, a soft, tender kiss that was full of unspoken promises and a newfound, fragile trust. We were lost in our own little world, a bubble of sweetness and affection, so much so that we didn't hear the front door click open.

We didn't stop kissing. I could hear the soft thud of a bag being dropped on the floor, the weary sigh of someone who had just returned from a long day at work. And then, Devi's voice, flat and laced with a weary, resigned exasperation. "Already?"

Dinner was a strange, surreal affair. The three of us sat around the small dining table, feasting on a meal of leftover biryani and raita. Kushi was happy and jolly, her laughter bubbling over, her eyes sparkling with a mischievous light. She was dressed in a sheer, black babydoll nightie, the lace barely concealing her pert breasts. Devi, on the other hand, still had a pout, her lips set in a firm, stubborn line. She was wearing a simple, white cotton bra and panties set, a stark contrast to Kushi's deliberate seductiveness. I, in my swim trunks, felt like the meat in a very complicated, very sexy sandwich.

"So," Kushi began, her voice bright and cheerful, "what's the plan for the night? Movie? Board games? A naked pillow fight?" She wiggled her eyebrows at me, a playful, suggestive grin on her face.

"I'm tired," Devi said, her voice flat, devoid of any emotion. "I'm going to sleep."

"Oh, come on, Devi," Kushi pleaded, her tone shifting to one of gentle coaxing. "Don't be like that. Let it go. We're all friends here."

"No," Devi said, her voice firm, her eyes fixed on her plate. "I'm not letting it go."

I decided to cut to the chase. "What do you want, Devi?" I asked, my voice calm, direct.

She looked up, her eyes locking onto mine, a cold, hard fire burning in their depths. "I want you to stop seeing Janaki."

The words hung in the air, a sudden, shocking declaration that brought the cheerful atmosphere to a screeching halt. Kushi and I were both stunned. "Devi, that's... that's unreasonable," Kushi stammered, her face a mask of disbelief. "You can't just... dictate who he can and can't see."

"I can't bear her," Devi said, her voice trembling with a suppressed rage. "I can't bear to look at her, to know that you're with her. It's... it's disgusting."

"Is it really about Aisha?" I asked, my voice a low, probing question. "Or is it something else?"

Devi didn't answer. She just looked down at her plate, her jaw tight, her silence a more powerful answer than any words she could have spoken.

"Devi, please," Kushi begged, her voice soft, pleading. "Rethink this. This isn't fair to Sid. This isn't fair to any of us."

But Devi refused. She just shook her head, her expression unyielding. Kushi's pleading turned to anger. "Why are you being such a bitch?" she scolded, her voice rising. "You're acting like a spoiled child who's had her favorite toy taken away!"

Devi just shrugged, a dismissive, infuriating gesture. "These are my demands," she said, her voice cold and final. She picked up her plate, stood up, and walked into the kitchen, leaving us sitting there in a stunned, angry silence.

I was furious. A white-hot rage surged through me, a desperate urge to follow her and shake some sense into her. But I could see Kushi, her face fallen, her shoulders slumped in disappointment, and I knew that wouldn't help. We were a team, and right now, we were losing.

It was late, and I was in my room, wide awake. I was upset, my mind a whirlwind of angry, frustrated thoughts. Why was Devi acting like such a bitch? Her demand was unreasonable, unfair, and completely out of left field. It felt less like a genuine concern and more like a power play, a desperate attempt to regain some control in a situation that was spiraling beyond her grasp.

I looked out the window, my gaze drifting towards Janaki's balcony. And I noticed something new. A large, white projection screen had been erected, blocking the view of the outside world from her apartment, while leaving my room with a perfect, unobstructed view of her balcony. It was strange, a bizarre and theatrical addition to the already surreal landscape of our lives.

As I wondered what on earth she was up to, my bedroom door creaked open and Kushi walked in. She was wearing only a small, white towel, her hair damp from a shower, a wide, conspiratorial smile on her face. She shut the door behind her, the soft click echoing in the quiet room. She locked it, then flicked on the light switch.

"What are you doing?" I asked, my confusion overriding my anger.

She didn't answer. She just pulled out her smartphone, her fingers flying across the screen, a wicked, triumphant grin on her face. "Cheating," she said, her voice a low, conspiratorial whisper.

She walked over to the window and looked out, and I followed her gaze. Just as she did, the light in Janaki's living room came on, flooding her balcony with a warm, inviting glow. A moment later, the door to her balcony slid open, and Janaki walked out. She was wearing only a towel, identical to the one Kushi was wearing.

Kushi walked up to the window, standing right beside me, and gave a little wave. Across the way, Janaki waved back, a slow, seductive gesture.

"What... what is happening?" I asked, my voice a breathless, stunned whisper.

Kushi just smiled, her eyes gleaming with mischief and arousal. And then, Janaki, as if in answer to my unasked question, dropped her towel. It pooled at her feet, leaving her completely, magnificently naked under the soft glow of her balcony light. She leaned against the railing, her body a perfect, sinful silhouette, and looked directly at us.

I watched on with a dropped jaw, my brain struggling to process the scene, to understand the game that was being played. And I had a sinking, thrilling feeling that I was about to find out.
