(Keifer's POV)
The soft morning light of London filtered through the heavy velvet curtains of our bedroom. I opened my eyes and did not move. I did not want to disturb the beautiful girl sleeping next to me. Jay was curled up like a kitten, her dark hair messy across the white pillows. She was breathing softly, totally at peace.
Looking at her, my heart felt so full it almost hurt. We were engaged. We were joint CEOs. We ran a massive business empire together, and just yesterday, we won a huge deal against major investors. But as I watched her sleep, I realized something important. Being fiancés was no longer enough. I wanted to be her real husband. I wanted us to be a real husband and wife. It was the perfect time for marriage.
It was time for everyone in world to know that I and Jay are inseparable until scientists find the end of universe >3
A grand idea came into my mind. I wanted to select Jay's bridal outfit all by myself. I knew most brides loved to shop for their own dresses, but I wanted to surprise her. I wanted to find something that showed exactly how much I adored her. If she would not like the dress then I will also not object her and let her decide.
Slowly, I slid out from under the warm blanket. I moved so slowly so she would not wake up. I walked out of the bedroom and went downstairs to our large, quiet kitchen. The house was completely still. The maids had left early the day before because it was the weekend, so the kitchen was mine.
I decided to make her a nice, warm breakfast. I toasted some bread, fried some eggs just the way she liked them, and poured a fresh glass of orange juice. I set the plate nicely on the large wooden dining table.
Then, I grabbed a small piece of paper and a pen. I smiled as I wrote down a note:
Good morning wifey, sorry got some important work and had to go to the company.
I placed the note right next to the hot plate of food. I rushed upstairs to change into a sharp brown suit. I fixed my hair, grabbed my car keys, and walked out the front door. The cool London air hit my face. My mission today was not at the office. I was heading straight to the most famous, exclusive boutiques in London for bridal dress shopping. I did not want a ready-made dress. A regular dress from a store shelf was not good enough for my Jay. It had to be custom-made. Every single thread had to be perfect.
As I started the engine of my sports car, I looked at the empty passenger seat and whispered to myself, "So let's go now, wifey. I am going to show you my fashion taste. I will make sure that you look like the world's most beautiful bride ever."
(Jay's POV)
I stretched my arms and rolled over in the big bed. My hand reached out to the other side of the mattress, expecting to feel a warm, muscular body.
Nothing. The sheets were cold.I opened my eyes quickly. Keifer was gone. I blinked at the empty pillow. Where was my annoying, handsome Keifer?
"Keifer?" I called out, my voice raspy from sleep. No answer.
I got out of bed, putting on my fluffy slippers. I walked out of the room and went down the grand staircase. I smelled toast and eggs, so my stomach gave a happy little rumble. I expected that he would be in the kitchen cooking, wearing one of his silly aprons. But when I stepped into the kitchen, it was totally empty.
I walked into the dining room. No Keifer. My shoulders dropped. A little wave of sadness hit me. He left me alone on a weekend morning? That was so rude. I pouted and crossed my arms. But then, I stopped and shook my head.
"Who cares, Jay?" I said out loud to the empty room. "At least you can eat ice cream now without someone being overly protective about your health!"
A huge grin broke across my face. Yes! Keifer was always lecturing me about green vegetables, healthy salads, and sugar limits. Without the health police around, I was a free woman.
Then, my eyes spotted the dining table. There was a plate of delicious breakfast waiting for me, covered to stay warm. Right next to it was a small piece of paper. I picked it up and read it.
Good morning wifey, sorry got some important work and had to go to the company.
My cheeks burned. "Hmph. Calling me wifey won't save you from my anger, Mr. Watson," I muttered.
However, the food looked too good to ignore. I sat down and quickly finished the breakfast. I ate the eggs and toast in record time. As soon as the plate was empty, I bolted out of my chair like a runner in a race.
I ran straight to the massive kitchen fridge. I threw the freezer door open. My eyes lit up. There they were. Rows and rows of ice cream boxes. Chocolate, vanilla, strawberry, cookie dough, cookies and cream.
I grabbed three boxes at once and a big metal spoon. I did not even bother going back to the dining table. I sat right down on the clean kitchen floor, opened the first box, and took a massive bite of cold, sweet chocolate ice cream. The sugar hit my brain, and I groaned in pure happiness. This was heaven. No Keifer to say, "Jay, you can have ice-cream but not too much." No Keifer to hand me a green smoothie. I mean he has no problem to let me eat ice-cream but overconsumption is totally Jay thing.
"This moment shouldn't end forever," I mumbled around my spoon. I swallowed the cold cream and dug in for another giant scoop. I was going to enjoy every single second of this freedom.
Designing Love (Keifer's POV)
[Keifer's efforts omg readers >3]
On the other side of London, my car pulled up outside the most expensive, high-end bridal boutique in the city. It was a place where royalty and billionaires bought their clothes. The glass windows were spotless, and the inside looked like a museum.
The owner of the boutique, a tall man in a very fancy suit, welcomed me with a deep bow. "Welcome, Mr. Watson. It is an honor for us to have you here . Let me show you our most premium, expensive options."
He led me into a private room. He brought out dresses that cost more than a luxury sports car. Some were covered in heavy diamonds. Others had massive, dramatic skirts that looked like giant clouds. They were flashy, heavy, and very expensive.
But as I looked at them, I felt nothing. I frowned. None of these dresses were right for Jay.
The owner looked worried. "Are they not expensive enough, sir? We can add more jewels."
"No," I replied, shaking my head. "It is not about the money. I do not want anything that would make Jay look different. I do not want her to look like a mannequin. I want her to feel like herself only. I want her true beauty to shine, not just the diamonds on the cloth."
I looked the owner dead in the eye. "I am ready to pay in billions. But I want every single inch of this dress to be decided by me."
The owner gasped, but he quickly nodded and called for his top, most famous fashion designer. The designer arrived with a big folder of drawings. He suggested some trendy options, modern cuts, and popular designs. He talked about lace patterns and long trains.
I listened, but none of his drawings captured the girl who loved to eat burgers, mock my punishments, and run a billion-dollar company with a sharp smirk.
"Give me the sketchbook and the pencil," I commanded gently.
The designer looked surprised, but he handed them over. I sat down at a grand table. I closed my eyes for a brief moment and pictured Jay. I pictured the way she moved, the way she laughed, and how she looked when she was proud of herself. Then, my hand started to move.
I began to sketch the gown from my heart. I drew a dress that was timeless, elegant, and full of life.
When I finished, I handed the sketchbook back to the designer. The man looked at the drawing, and his jaw dropped. His eyes went wide with pure respect.
"Wow," the designer whispered. "This is real man moves. Sir, your soon-to-be wife is incredibly lucky to have you. This is a masterpiece, even I being so trained can't create a design like this. This sketch screams 'love' sir! "
I smiled softly, feeling a deep sense of pride. "Not my wife," I corrected him gently. "But I myself am lucky to have her. And this is the bare minimum that I am doing for her. She deserves the world."
The designer looked at the sketch again and began to point out the beautiful details I had drawn. He asked about the materials. Together, we spent the next four hours deciding and planning every single part of the gown.
I wanted the main body of the dress to be made from the softest, pure white silk from Italy. It had to feel as smooth as her skin. For the top part, I chose a delicate lace that had a pattern of small, blooming jasmine flowers. Jay loved the scent of jasmine. I wanted the back of the dress to have a long row of tiny pearls, each one perfectly round and shining, leading down to a beautiful, graceful train. The train would not be too heavy, so she could move and dance freely without tripping. I also asked the designer to hide a tiny, secret detail inside the inner lining of the dress—a small heart embroidered with blue thread, representing my eternal love for her.
Every choice I made was a reflection of how much I adored her. After four long hours of planning, my fingers were tired, but my mind was happy. I signed the official legal documents, paid a massive advance payment that could buy a mansion, and thanked the team.
As I was about to exist, the owner brought a frame sized sheet and asked me to autograph on it . It signed the sheet and I saw as they hung the sheet immediately into frame on the wall. They also gave me a gift for Jay.
I walked out of the boutique and got back into my car.
As I drove through the busy streets of London, heading back home, the weather started to turn a bit chilly. Clouds were rolling in.
I passed by a small, cozy cafe and saw a sign for gourmet drinks. I pulled over immediately. I thought that I should take some hot chocolate for Jay. She will be too happy when she tastes it.
I went inside, bought a large cup of premium rich hot chocolate, and had it packed securely so it would stay boiling hot. With the drink in the cup holder, I drove back to our house, imagining her happy smile.
(Jay's POV )
One box. Two boxes. Three boxes.
Time did not exist anymore. There was only me, the big white couch in the living room, a soft blanket, and the sweet, icy taste of victory.
By the time the afternoon arrived, my throat felt a little scratchy. My nose started to tickle. But I did not care.
I was on a mission to eat as much ice cream as humanly possible before the health king came back home.
Achoo!
I sneezed loudly, wiping my nose with a tissue. I tossed the crumpled tissue onto the floor next to the couch. There was already a small mountain of tissues surrounding me. My nose was getting red, and my head felt a little heavy, but I refused to stop. I opened another box of vanilla ice cream.
Suddenly, I heard the heavy front door open.
My heart jumped. Oh no. The boss was back.
I expected myself to get up and hide the boxes, but my body felt too cozy under the blanket. Plus, my throat was cold, and the ice cream was too tasty. I decided to stay right where I was. Let him see. I am an independent woman!
I heard his footsteps coming toward the living area. I took another big bite of ice cream and watched him walk into the room.
Keifer stopped dead in his tracks. He was still wearing his fancy grey suit, holding a takeout bag. He looked at the floor, then at the couch, and then at me. His eyes were wide with total shock.
The living room looked like a war zone. There were empty ice cream containers scattered everywhere on the carpet. Tissues were piled up like little snowballs. And there I was, wrapped in a blanket like a burrito, holding a spoon with a running nose.
Keifer stared at me for a long time. Then, he let out a deep sigh, but I saw his lips twitch like he wanted to laugh.
"How many ice creams did you eat, wifey?" he asked, his voice a mix of disbelief and worry.
I blinked my eyes innocently. I looked down at the floor and started counting the empty boxes scattered around the couch with my spoon. "Um... one, two, three... approximately eight boxes," I said, sniffling a little. I raised the tub in my hand. "And this is the ninth one which I am eating right now."
Why judge me ? I am a certified Ice-cream lover !
Keifer walked closer, shaking his head. "Jay, this is not good for your health. Look at you. Your nose is red and you are freezing."
"I know, Keifer," I said, my voice sounding a bit blocked because of my stuffy nose. "I will stop. I promise. But at least let me complete ten boxes!"
He raised an eyebrow. "Ten boxes? Why ten?"
"Because you know an odd number is not good!" I shouted logically. "Nine is an odd number. It is bad luck. I need to eat one more box to make it an even ten. It is basic science, Keifer!"
Keifer crossed his arms. He looked at me like I was a crazy person, but his eyes were so warm and full of love. "Oh, really? Basic science?"
"Yes!" I insisted, taking another bite before he could steal it.
(Keifer's POV)
I looked at the girl on the couch and did not know whether to laugh or cry. She had eaten eight boxes of ice cream, her nose was running, she was covered in tissues, and she was arguing about odd and even numbers. Right now, she was just my silly, stubborn Jay.
"Okay, wifey," I said, putting on a serious face. "You don't want to listen to me, right? So the hot chocolate I brought for you, you will not get it."
As soon as the words left my mouth, Jay's eyes went wide. She loved hot chocolate more than anything. Maybe 2nd spot after Ice-cream!
She immediately dropped her spoon into the ice cream box. She threw the blanket off her body and stood up from the couch. But because she had been sitting for so long and her brain was frozen from sugar, she stumbled. Her legs were weak, and she wobbled toward me like a little penguin.
"Keifer!" she cried out, trying to look angry but looking completely adorable instead. "You can't do this to your beautiful wife!"
Just as she reached me, she stopped and closed her eyes. Achoo! She sneezed right in front of me.
I did not say a single word. I did not lecture her. I did not complain. I just dropped the cafe takeout bag on a side table and I had already hidden the gift from boutique because she would have known that I went there. Then , I reached out, and picked her up in a bridal style.
"Ah!" she gasped, her hands instantly flying up to wrap around my neck.
She felt so light and small in my arms, even though she had a belly full of ice cream. I carried her carefully out of the living room, up the grand stairs, and straight into our bedroom. I placed her gently onto the big, soft bed. I grabbed the thickest, warmest blanket we had and covered her up to her chin.
"Stay here," I said softly, tapping her red nose.
I turned around and went back downstairs. I walked around the living room, picking up every single empty ice cream box and gathering all the dirty tissues. I threw them into the trash bin, chuckling to myself the whole time. Jay will never change, I thought, shaking my head. She is never going to improve, and honestly, I don't want her to.
I went into the kitchen and opened the cafe bag. The hot chocolate was still very hot. I did not want her to drink it from a boring paper cup. I opened our cupboard and searched through the back until I found a very special mug.
It was a custom mug I had made when Jay lost her memory hoping to show her and she could have remember everything but the mug didn't get chance. Printed on the front was a photo from our old HVIS times. In the photo, we were teenagers. Jay and I were looking at each other with goofy smiles. We looked so young, so innocent, and so incredibly cute.
Photo of them in the comment readers!
I poured the rich, steaming hot chocolate into that specific cup. The sweet smell of cocoa filled the air. I carried the mug carefully upstairs and walked back into the bedroom.
Jay was sitting up against the pillows, looking like a grumpy little kid wrapped in her blanket. I walked over and handed the cup to her.
Jay looked down at the mug. The moment her eyes saw the old school photo, her grumpy face completely disappeared. A beautiful, radiant smile broke across her face. Her eyes sparkled with pure joy.
"Oh my god," she whispered, touching the printed picture with her thumb. "Where did you find this cup? We look so silly here." She looked up at me, her eyes teasing. "You know, the old Keifer was better. He didn't lecture me about sugar."
I laughed and sat on the edge of the bed. "The old Keifer didn't have to worry about his wifey getting a brain freeze from nine boxes of ice cream."
Jay smiled softly. She placed the warm cup down on the nightstand next to the bed. Then, without warning, she lunged forward and threw her arms around my neck. She hugged me tightly, burying her face into my shoulder. The warmth of her body pressed against mine, and I wrapped my arms around her waist, holding her close.
"Keifer," she murmured into my suit jacket, her voice soft and sweet. "I don't know what I did to deserve you."
I felt a deep warmth spread through my entire chest. I tightened my grip on her, kissing the top of her fore head.
"Jay," I whispered into her hair, holding her like she was the most precious thing in the universe. "You just existed. And it was enough for me."
We stayed like that for a long time, holding each other in the quiet bedroom, knowing that very soon, she would be wearing the most beautiful custom dress in the world, and we would be husband and wife forever.
