Chapter 14 - 14

My Sister Never Said She Was a Creepy Tale

Watching Zhang Yang and Fan Ning reluctantly leave, Gu Nanqiu breathed a sigh of relief.

"Zhang Yang mentioning that reminded me: my meal card seems to be different from yours. Also, your meal card is almost out of money." Gu Nanqiu looked at Yue Yiyue with some worry: "Will that affect you in any way?"

Since there were no outsiders, Yue Yiyue was too lazy to go to the bathroom to change: "Nanqiu, please turn around; I'll change clothes here."

"Oh, okay." Gu Nanqiu turned around, listening to the rustling sounds behind her.

Yue Yiyue took off her pajamas, threw them on the bed, and casually put on a T-shirt and her oversized school uniform jacket: "My meal card is running low on funds."

"What I understand is that you have to send a student into the 'Little Black Room,' and one student is worth one hundred yuan," Yue Yiyue almost laughed, saying this. These students' lives really weren't treated as lives.

"Speaking of which, I think I found the key to the locked cabinet," Yue Yiyue paused strangely here. After all, she couldn't exactly say she found the key; it just mysteriously appeared in her desk. It was odd.

Pulling on her pants, Yue Yiyue moved a stool over, stepped on it, and expertly opened the lock. "Step back. While they're not here, let's see what's inside. If something disgusting crawls out, and I faint from shock, remember to ask for leave for me." Yue Yiyue made preparations for both possibilities, vigilantly watching the square cabinet. It was like Pandora's Box; no one knew what was inside until it was opened. But she was afraid of missing crucial information, like the evidence-gathering stage in a script-killing game. She had seen it on the TV in the cafeteria when she didn't have a task—but that was very high-tech, with costumes and everything.

"How about I open it?" Gu Nanqiu watched Yue Yiyue worriedly.

"No need."

After confirming Gu Nanqiu's position was safe, Yue Yiyue opened the cabinet. Nothing strange appeared as she expected, nor did anything terrifying crawl out. Inside was only a single piece of yellowed paper. Yue Yiyue looked strangely at the overly clean cabinet, which gave off an eerie sense of dissonance with the rest of the dormitory.

"It's fine," Yue Yiyue took the item out: "It just says we must get out before the midterm exam. I wonder if that's true or false." Does the midterm come a week after the monthly exam? She didn't know; she would have to ask later.

"There's writing on the back, too," Gu Nanqiu looked up at the paper in Yue Yiyue's hand: "What does the back say?"

"Hmm, let me see." Yue Yiyue flipped it over: "Don't let them ruin Fan Ning." "If Fan Ning is fine, we can leave."

The writing was extremely simple and crude.

"So, the bullied student is Fan Ning. Then what about Zhang Yang?"

"It didn't say only one person was bullied." Yue Yiyue folded the paper: "I'll go ask about the midterm exam later. For now, we need to pay more attention to Fan Ning." "It's getting late. Let's go have breakfast together. Also, where is Zhao Heyi? And what's Wang Xiaoyan's situation right now?" These two were key figures. If Zhao Heyi truly brought them in, he must have a way to get out.

Yue Yiyue was distracted during class today. Her deskmate noticed and lowered her eyes to fiddle with something on the desk. Soon, a light pink note was passed over: "What's wrong?" The handwriting was delicate and meticulously neat, just like the person herself.

"No one should be harassing Nanqiu anymore, so you should be very happy, right? You get to stay by her side." "Speaking of which, that Zhang Yang next door is courting death. I heard she stayed in Nanqiu's dorm last night?" "Then who did you sleep with? Was it comfortable?" "Could you tell me what happened? In exchange…" The deskmate paused, then playfully winked. "I'll tell you where Wang Xiaoyan is, okay? You guys are looking for her, right?"

If the preceding words made Yue Yiyue feel that this person was a bit odd, the latter half of the sentence made Yue Yiyue's scalp tingle. The deskmate didn't miss the vigilance that flashed across Yue Yiyue's face. She twirled her pen, and soon a new note was pushed over. "I'm on your side, actually. I've thought it through. It's too cruel for Nanqiu to stay here. We will help her." The name Nanqiu in this sentence was written extremely carelessly, as if she was reluctant to write the name but had to. "After all, & exists for her." "Tell me, tell me… See? I didn't call you low-class. Baby, please tell me, okay?"

Looking at one note after another being passed, Yue Yiyue contemplated and finally wrote a brief summary of yesterday's situation and passed it back.

"You didn't lie. What a good baby. Thank you—" "Third floor, Room 317 Arts Studio. Oh, and the midterm exam is the second week after the monthly exam. Also, some people were watching you, but I chased them all away ^_^."

Seeing the last symbol, a sense of familiarity made Yue Yiyue feel slightly disoriented. She turned her head to look at her deskmate. Black hair, pale face, red lips, and an open collar. With just that one glance, Yue Yiyue thought she caught sight of a beautiful red mole on the deskmate's collarbone. Did her deskmate look like this before? She had only seen her yesterday, but today Yue Yiyue felt that this deskmate was strangely over-enthusiastic.

A strange whisper seemed to echo in her ear again. "Damn it, how did she manage to touch you." "Seriously, how disgusting. She actually climbed into your bed like that. She is so scheming." "Does Baby like this kind of person? Does Baby actually like this kind of person?" "You've been stained with a foul scent. Damn it, even she's been attracted to you now." "Baby, why are you so cute? That's why we couldn't help it, couldn't help it…" "It's all your fault… Seriously, Baby is so cute, it's really all your fault."

The teacher on the stage clapped the blackboard loudly, which snapped Yue Yiyue back to attention. The deskmate's attractive face curled into a smile, and a dark red flash appeared in the depths of her eyes. Yue Yiyue was momentarily dazed when she saw that flash, a layer of fog seeming to permeate her mind. She instinctively looked down at her book.

The deskmate leaned her head on the desk, playing with Yue Yiyue's hanging hair. Noticing someone watching from a distance, she looked up and gave a provocative stare toward Gu Nanqiu, who was sitting by the window.

The moment the class bell rang, a clattering sound came from the other side. Yue Yiyue, who was deeply engrossed in her book, was drawn to the noise. She looked up confusedly toward the source of the commotion.

Gu Nanqiu was moving a desk, dragging it toward them. In a moment, there was an extra desk behind Yue Yiyue. Seeing Yue Yiyue's slightly bewildered expression, Gu Nanqiu explained thoughtfully: "The sunlight over there was too glaring. I spoke to the teacher, and since the teacher saw that you and I get along well, she let me move over here."
