Chapter 2 - Chapter 2

Inside a hospital in Yi'an District.

Yang Wu was chatting with Luo Feng, who had just woken up.

"Brother Yang, thank you so much for today!" Luo Feng, having just comforted his parents, thanked Yang Wu.

"We're brothers, why say such things?" Yang Wu's face was calm, but he secretly thought, "Even if I wanted to help you again, I probably wouldn't have the chance."

  "Hmm!" Luo Feng grinned.

"Ah Feng, Ah Feng!" A voice came from afar.

Yang Wu turned around and saw a figure running towards them—it was Luo Feng's close friend, the future immortal god, Wei Wen.

Seeing Wei Wen drenched in sweat, Yang Wu couldn't help but feel a pang of emotion.

Actually, Luo Feng was quite popular at school, and classmates often asked him for advice on various martial arts issues.

But after Luo Feng was hospitalized, besides his family, only Wei Wen truly cared about him. No wonder Wei Wen eventually became an immortal with eternal life.

As for Yang Wu, his friendship with Luo Feng was somewhat ulterior motive.

However, for the sake of immortality, it's not shameful!

"Wei Wen's here. You guys chat, I should go to work!"

Yang Wu knew Luo Feng was still thinking about going to military academy, so he didn't bring it up and prepared to leave. After all, he had his own things to do.

"Brother Yang, thank you so much for today. I'll treat you to dinner in a few days!" Luo Feng knew Yang Wu had things to do and didn't try to stop him.

  "Okay, I'll wait for you!"

After saying goodbye to Wei Wen and Luo Feng's family who had just arrived, Yang Wu took his leave.

  ...

"From today onwards, once I pass the martial artist assessment, I can start my carefree life!"

Walking on the road, Yang Wu had already planned out his future.

Actually, he was already close to meeting the basic physical requirements of a martial artist. He hadn't passed the assessment a few days ago because his speed was a little lacking.

Passing the assessment next month was practically a certainty.

After becoming a martial artist, he could find a better job in the base city.

As for the wilderness area, let whoever wants to go there go!

Without a cheat code, his own cultivation speed couldn't keep up with Luo Feng's cheat-like speed!

Yang Wu and Luo Feng becoming close friends was like buying insurance for his future; now all he had to do was wait for it to take effect.

If he encountered danger in the wilderness and died unexpectedly, Yang Wu would have nowhere to cry.

Even with time reversal and resurrection, one's lifespan had to be sufficient!

Although he was thinking, Yang Wu's speed was not slow at all. A dozen minutes later, he arrived at a very famous bar in Yi'an District.

  "Hello, Brother Yang!"

  "Hello, Brother Yang!"

"Hmm!" Yang Wu nodded slightly and stepped into the bar's lobby amidst the greetings of the two bodyguards at the entrance. Watching

Yang Wu enter the bar, one of the tall bodyguards showed a hint of envy.

"Brother Yang lives a really carefree life, coming here every night and earning tens of thousands of yuan a month!"

"Hehe, if you could defeat six thugs with the strength of advanced martial arts school students all by yourself, you could have the same treatment!" another bodyguard grinned from the side.

"If I had that kind of strength, I wouldn't be working at this bar anymore. I could just find a powerful family to rely on; wouldn't that be much safer than working here?" the tall bodyguard said with a self-deprecating laugh.

"You're dreaming. Out of a thousand people, is there even one advanced student? Let alone someone like Brother Yang who's practically a martial artist!"

Although the world has changed a lot, and human physical abilities have improved significantly, most people spend their entire lives only reaching the level of a beginner student. Those

who can become advanced students at a martial arts school are extremely rare!

"Yeah! I heard Brother Yang's physical abilities have already reached the standard of a martial artist. Do you think he'll still work at this bar after becoming a martial artist?" The tall bodyguard seemed particularly interested in matters concerning martial artists.

"I don't know!" another bodyguard shook his head and said, "However, if I became a martial artist, I would definitely go to the wilderness to hunt monsters. Killing just one monster would bring in millions; wouldn't that be much better than working at this bar?"

"Yes! Once you become a martial artist, you'll live a life of luxury!"

The tall bodyguard nodded, his face full of agreement, then clenched his fists. "One day, I'll become a martial artist too!"

  ...

Although Yang Wu had already entered the bar's main hall, his physical abilities, which were close to the standards of a martial artist, still allowed him to hear the two bodyguards' discussion at the door.

A life of luxury? Just hunting a monster would bring in millions!

Yang Wu smiled helplessly to himself; this was how ordinary people understood martial artists.

But martial artists weren't so carefree.

Millions for a monster? That referred to at least a Beast General-level monster. As for the Beast Soldier-level monsters that ordinary warrior-level martial artists could kill, the materials from a single monster were only worth a few thousand.

A low-level warrior-level martial artist, without joining a powerful martial artist team, would probably only earn a few hundred thousand after a year of hard work in the wilderness.

Moreover, the mortality rate for martial artists was extremely high!

Even in the initial practical assessment for aspiring martial artists, the casualty rate exceeded 30%. For martial artists in the wilderness, the casualty rate was even higher.

Even War God-level martial artists could perish, let alone ordinary Warrior-level martial artists.

Therefore, martial artists entering and leaving the wilderness were constantly walking the line between life and death; each return to the base city was a rebirth.

As for Luo Feng's experience in the original story, that was unique!

There was only one such person in the entire universe!

Yang Wu had initially thought he would be the second, but now he understood that he was just one of countless ordinary people.

"Ah Wu, you've arrived!" A middle-aged man in a fine suit approached; it was the bar owner, Wang Zijin.

In the bar, only he could directly address Yang Wu by his name.

"Brother Wang!" Yang Wu bowed slightly.

Although Wang Zijin's strength was somewhat lacking, he was a member of the Wang family.

Although only a collateral branch, with the powerful Wang family behind him, Wang Zijin was a figure in Yangzhou City, owning numerous businesses and assets exceeding 100 million.

Yang Wu was working for Wang Zijin.

"Ah Wu, I heard you took the preliminary martial artist assessment a few days ago, and you almost passed?"

Wang Zijin asked with a smile, showing considerable interest in this capable subordinate.

"Yes!" Yang Wu replied, "My strength and reaction speed passed, but my speed was lacking! I was unlucky during the test, only managing 24.8 meters per second."

The preliminary martial artist assessment required a speed of 25 meters per second.

"Just that little bit? You should pass next month!" Wang Zijin exclaimed. "Here's what we'll do, Ah Wu, you don't need to come to work for the next month. I'll still pay you your salary. Just stay home and focus on improving your physical fitness!"

"How can I do that?" Yang Wu quickly waved his hand in refusal.

Although Yang Wu and Wang Zijin had a good relationship, he kept his personal and professional lives separate.

"It's nothing, just a small amount!" Wang Zijin smiled. "If you feel bad about it, Ah Wu, how about joining our Wang family after you become a formal martial artist?"

Wang Zijin had already begun recruiting Yang Wu.

In truth, an ordinary warrior-level martial artist is nothing to the Wang family. But for Wang Zijin, it's a considerable asset.

Moreover, Yang Wu has a wide network of connections, including some martial artist friends.

If Yang Wu, now a martial artist, joins the Wang family to support him, Wang Zijin's status within the family will definitely rise significantly.

"Brother Wang, I need to think about this!" Yang Wu said cautiously.

Actually, if he didn't plan to go to the wilderness area, joining the Wang family was a good option. Wang Zijin was a decent person; at least he wouldn't betray him.

"Alright! A-Wu, you can contact me anytime you decide!" Wang Zijin said with a smile, then left the bar.

He owned many businesses, and he had come to the bar today specifically to wait for Yang Wu.

Now that he had said what he needed to say, it was time to leave.
