The sudden vibration of the phone in her pocket shattered the charged atmosphere in the bathroom.
Zoe Rhodes was the first to snap out of it. She quickly spat out her mouthwash. "I-I-I need to get the phone!"
'That was a lifesaver!'
Zane Hawthorne gave her a deep look. "Okay."
Then he backed out, giving her plenty of privacy.
Watching his figure disappear from the doorway, Zoe Rhodes let out a heavy breath.
'She wasn't sure if it was just her imagination, but the atmosphere just now had felt far too heated...'
'If this kept up, she might actually start to believe that Zane Hawthorne genuinely liked her.'
Forcibly shaking off the strange thought, Zoe Rhodes looked at the caller ID. It was an unfamiliar number from Porten.
Hesitantly, she answered the call.
"Hello, is this Miss Zoe Rhodes?"
"...It is. Who is this?"
The voice sounded a little familiar at first. 'It must be a very gentle-sounding woman.'
