Inside the hospital room, Zoey Zane sat on her bed, greeting a guest with a wide smile.
When Nancy looked over and saw that the guest was Dylan Heston, she was too stunned to speak.
"Nancy, what are you spacing out for!" Zoey Zane shot her an anxious look, signaling for her to stop standing in the doorway like a block of wood.
Riley Caldwell, who had never met Dylan Heston before, peeked out from behind Nancy Hughes. He glanced at the man, then at his own sister's flustered expression, and asked curiously, "Sis, who's this uncle?"
"What uncle? He's your sister's boyfriend! Heston, I hope my son hasn't embarrassed you," Zoey Zane loudly scolded Riley, but Dylan Heston said, "It's fine."
"How did you get here?" she asked, slowly walking over to him. As she got closer, she caught his scent, which brought a wave of reassurance.
"You didn't want me to come?"
"No..." she replied softly.
