"Not in Port Amoria?" Lucian Sloan's voice rose slightly, his handsome brows furrowing almost imperceptibly. "Tell me, are you being bullied again?"
"Lucian, you're overthinking things." Yara Quillan was sometimes wary of Lucian Sloan's keen powers of observation.
"Then tell me, where are you right now? What are you doing?"
Feeling a bit exasperated by his questions, Yara Quillan finally explained. She told him she was in Alvane for a competition and was really fine; she just couldn't pick him up from the airport.
When Lucian Sloan heard Yara was at a competition, he didn't press further. Instead, he started fussing over her like a mother hen, running through a laundry list of reminders before finally hanging up amid Yara's growing impatience.
