At City Central Hospital, Olivia Wynne sat in the OB/GYN director's office, looking at the middle-aged female doctor across from her.
Like most doctors, the middle-aged woman had a kind, fair-skinned face and an ever-present, gentle smile.
"What seems to be the trouble?" the doctor asked. Sure enough, her voice was just as gentle and approachable as her expression.
"Doctor, I'd like to get tested for pregnancy," Olivia Wynne said, getting straight to the point.
She was desperate to know whether she was pregnant, so she didn't waste time on pleasantries.
The smile on the doctor's face faded somewhat. She looked at Olivia Wynne and continued, "Are you married?"
"I am," Olivia Wynne replied calmly, her eyes fixed on the doctor.
Hearing Olivia Wynne's reply, the smile returned to the doctor's face. "Since you're married, are you planning on keeping the baby?"
"If I am, of course I'm keeping it," Olivia Wynne replied instinctively.
