In the cool interior of the car, Olivia Wynne glanced out, feeling bored. "Dylan Doyle, how much longer until we get to the office?"
Dylan Doyle glanced at the long snake of cars snarled up ahead, his voice a bit frayed. "Looks like we'll be stuck for a while."
Olivia Wynne could feel her stomach beginning to growl. She was hungry.
She'd been here for a while now, but she hadn't experienced this kind of hunger yet. The unsatisfied ache in her stomach put her on edge, reminding her of the apocalypse.
After a quick glance at the roadside, Olivia Wynne asked quietly, "Can I get out up ahead?"
'I need to buy something to eat.'
"Sure."
On the side of the road, the scorching sun beat down, making it feel like the pavement itself was roasting. Olivia Wynne scanned her surroundings, and her mood lifted when she spotted The Silkwood Estate across the street.
"Don't wait for me. You can head back to the office."
