Olivia's answer apparently didn't satisfy Zachary Fairchild. His gaze remained dark as he slowly withdrew his hand. Sitting up straight, he asked, "When will you know me that well, Olivia?"
"You get to know someone after you've lived with them for a while."
'But then again, maybe time isn't enough.'
'The original Olivia had been so devoted to William Wynne. Did *I* have that kind of patience to observe Zachary Fairchild?'
Olivia Wynne stole a glance at Zachary Fairchild, overcome with self-doubt.
Zachary Fairchild had no idea what Olivia Wynne was thinking. After hearing her words, however, the coldness in his expression finally eased.
"I hope you can keep your word, Olivia."
As Zachary was no longer staring at her with that cold, skeptical gaze, Olivia Wynne breathed an inward sigh of relief and immediately nodded. "Yes, I'll keep my word."
'I'll try my best, at least.'
Mrs. Fairchild and Zachary's grandmother sat off to one side, beaming as they watched the two of them.
