Chapter 230 - Is That The Real King?!

"Warning! A Monster disaster has appeared in M-City. The predicted level is Dragon-level. All citizens, please hurry to the shelters. The Hero Association has already dispatched heroes to handle it!"

"Warning! Warning! A massive amount of energy has been detected in M-City, All citizens, please take cover immediately and do not go outside."

In M-City, a series of piercing sirens blared. The crowds on the streets panicked and swarmed toward nearby shelters.

"Jess-san, dozens of energy reactions have appeared in M-City. The predicted levels are all Demon-level or higher, with the strongest reaching Dragon-level status." Maria reported with a face full of terror.

A disaster of this magnitude had not occurred in a long time.

"Immediately dispatch nearby S-Class Heroes to handle it." Jess looked worried.

Disasters on Earth had become frequent lately. Ever since the War of the Gods, for some reason, the appearance of Monsters had become increasingly common.

'M-City... was that King's former residence? If he were still here...' Jess thought silently, his expression somewhat somber.

"Just leave M-City to me. Honestly, tell me directly next time something like this happens." A tsundere voice came through the phone.

Jess's face lit up with joy. He naturally recognized the owner of the voice: S-Class Rank 2, Tatsumaki.

—

"Ahhh! Run for your lives!"

"It's a Dragon-level Monster! Is there anyone here to save us?"

"Heroes! Where are the heroes?"

In M-City, a Lizard Monster dozens of meters tall was rampaging recklessly, causing countless buildings to collapse.

"Roar!"

It let out a roar, its gaze drawn to a statue in the city center. The statue depicted a man with three scars on his face. Even just standing there, he exuded an air of majesty.

Thump, thump, thump!

Feeling provoked, the Lizard Monster charged straight toward the statue, attempting to destroy it. A massive tail swept toward the statue, but it suddenly stopped in mid-air.

"Small fry, what do you think you're attacking?"

The Lizard Monster was rendered unable to move as an extremely cold aura descended from the sky.

A green figure floated in the air. Tatsumaki stared at the creature below with eyes full of killing intent.

Psychokinesis: Compress!

Bang!

The Lizard Monster's body was instantly crushed into a ball, and countless green blood splattered everywhere.

"Terrible Tornado? Why are you here!" Genos's voice rang out.

He had rushed over as soon as he received the intel, but he hadn't expected Tatsumaki to beat him to it.

"Hmph! If everyone was as slow as you, who could you possibly protect?" Disdain showed in Tatsumaki's eyes, but Genos did not retort.

Since the Hero Association announced King's sacrifice, the S-Class Heroes had become much more ruthless in dealing with monsters, rooting them out immediately upon discovery.

To commemorate this hero of humanity, the strongest man on Earth, the citizens of M-City had built a statue of King in the city center.

'Of all places, here... King, you probably never expected that after you risked your life to take God away, disasters on Earth wouldn't decrease but instead become more frequent.' Genos remained silent.

At this moment, Tatsumaki's gaze fell upon the statue in the city center.

Boom, boom, boom!

Explosions rang out again from various parts of the city as the remaining monsters continued their destruction.

"You're looking for death!!!"

Tatsumaki was instantly enraged. But before she could act, a deafening roar echoed throughout the entire city.

"This... this is?!"

Tatsumaki's pupils shrank slightly, and her heart couldn't help but beat rapidly. This familiar sound belonged only to that man.

King Engine!

Boom, boom, boom!

The Monsters in M-City exploded one after another as a figure floated above the city.

"You... you're King?!" Genos's mouth hung open, unable to believe the scene before him.

King and God had been sucked into a black hole together, leaving no remains. Everyone at the Hero Association had been forced to accept this cruel reality, but now King had miraculously reappeared.

...

At the Hero Association headquarters, the eyes of all staff members were drawn to the figure in the center of the screen.

"Jess-san... could that be?" Maria's voice trembled.

King's death had dealt a massive blow to the Hero Association. Even the common people had been heartbroken, though the silver lining was that the Hero Association's reputation had improved significantly as all of humanity united against their common enemy.

"King is back. But before it's fully confirmed, let's not announce this news yet." Jess's voice trembled slightly, he was also incredibly excited.

However, he didn't want to disappoint everyone. If the newcomer wasn't that man but a monster in disguise, it would be a cruel disappointment.

"Genos, this is Jess from the Hero Association."

"Jess?" Genos paused.

He was just about to go and greet King, as he had so much he wanted to say.

"Yes, we need you to confirm King's identity now."

"You mean him?"

Genos's gaze became sharp. After all, there were cases of Monsters transforming into human forms.

"Yes, headquarters needs you to confirm the specific situation. After all, Blast can't be reached right now. We can't confirm his true identity." Jess's tone was somewhat helpless.

If Blast were here, he would surely be able to tell if the King before them was real or fake.

"I understand. Leave it to me." Genos's eyes were determined.

When it came to understanding King, no one knew him better. After all, the two had fought before, and he had a deep understanding of King's strength.

Psychokinetic Impact!

Before Genos could even move, Tatsumaki struck first.

"Tsk tsk. We haven't seen each other in so long, and your temper is still this explosive."

Snap!

King snapped his fingers, and the surrounding Psychokinesis instantly dissipated.

"You... are you really King?" Tatsumaki's voice trembled, and mist began to cloud her eyes.

"The one and only." The corners of King's lips curled up slightly.

At this moment, Genos also flew up, propelled by his Rocket Boosters.

"King, you're actually alive! That's wonderful!"

"Genos, you're still as good with words as ever."

King looked at the two of them, also very excited. After all, drifting to an outer star system this time had been a life-or-death experience, but fortunately, he had made it through.

"You've both grown stronger." King remarked with emotion.

He could clearly sense that the power of Tatsumaki's Psychokinesis had improved by more than one level, and Genos's mechanical equipment contained enormous energy.

Unfortunately, compared to him, their increase in combat power was almost negligible.

"Hmph! Of course. I am a genius. Do you want to have a fight right now?" Tatsumaki proudly said.
