Chapter 89 - Chapter 89 The Man in the Dark

The open space where they robbed a few months ago.

Hidden in the jungle, unnoticed by others, a pair of eyes sees everything clearly.

Only after everyone had left did he slowly follow the hoofprints left by Ed and his companions as they fled.

In a relatively secluded valley, the muscular leader was pacing back and forth. The wise man had not yet returned, and he was extremely anxious.

However, the small valley offered him some comfort; its strategic location made it an ideal long-term stronghold. He had risen to prominence precisely because of this place, and now was the time for them to grow even stronger. He didn't want anything to happen to his second brother.

The muscular men weren't exactly robbers; they were just a group of desperate people banding together.

Suddenly, the noise at the entrance of the valley interrupted him.

His unease subsided, and a smile appeared on his face. But soon, his smile froze on his face.

"The First Chief, the Second Chief is dead." A group of people grieved, and then the wise man's body was placed in front of him.

It only takes a moment to go from hell to heaven and back again.

Seeing the arrow in the intelligent man's chest, the muscular man shouted at his henchmen, "What's going on?"

"Chief, we don't know what happened either. We just heard someone shouting that the Second Chief has been shot by an arrow," said one of the henchmen holding a wooden shield.

At this moment, a henchman carrying a spear came out and explained, "I saw an arrow fly quickly toward the second leader, and then the second leader was hit by the arrow."

Hearing what the henchmen said, the muscular man was somewhat puzzled:

Could it be that we were too close at the time? Didn't the second brother say he would keep a safe distance? Did he get carried away again and stand right in the other person's face? Otherwise, the arrow wouldn't have penetrated so deeply.

He's finally paying the price for his arrogance. But he still needs to find out more:

"Are you proceeding according to the original plan? Are you getting very close to the other side?"

"No, Chief, we have been following the plan. The Second Chief has been behind the wooden shield and has not approached the enemy."

The muscular chieftain was taken aback. Could the enemy's arrows really travel that far? He couldn't quite figure it out and could only wait for the scouts to return before making a further assessment.

"Take the second leader away for burial. He should not go out for the time being. I need to think about it."

"Yes, Great Chief." The group wasn't too saddened, having seen many life-and-death situations before.

The muscular leader, however, is different. These people follow him, and he must be responsible for each and every one of them. It's clear the leader's heart is good, but he's simply caught in a dark period.

In a house in a small valley at night, the muscular man asked, looking at a lean man whose face was obscured. "What's going on?"

"Chief, that big warrior's bow and arrow are incredibly powerful. He shot the Second Chief from twice the distance of a regular bow and arrow."

"Is it that far?" The muscular man asked incredulously.

"Yes, Chief, I saw it with my own eyes. That man's bow was enormous."

The muscular man lowered his head in deep thought:

The arrows can shoot so far, could it be because they were made too big? Never mind the reason for now, we can just be more careful in the future. What do we do now? The second brother can't have died in vain, let's find out what happened first.

"Where did those people go? Have you tracked them down?"

"Chief, those people went north, then west into the jungle, and then I came back."

"When the weather gets warmer later, take some people and follow the path they took to see where they went. Go and find out what's going on."

"What else is going on?" the muscular man asked, looking at the scout who hadn't left.

"Chief, Carly, the daughter of a fallen nobleman from the front territory, acted as their guide and secretly followed them."

"It seems I'll have to find an opportunity to talk to her later."
