Chapter 127 - Last Christmas

POV ???

"Come on, you don't actually think that this hat is magical, do you?" says one kid.

"Magic is real, so why can't this hat be magical?" the second kid says while holding up the hat.

"Magic? What are you 3?" says the first kid.

"I'm 7! And I saw Santa last year!" says a third kid.

"Oh come on! Everyone knows Santa doesn't exist," complains the first kid.

"Then why did the news talk about all those break-ins last year? Or the government's reports of an unidentified flying object on Christmas Eve?" points out the second kid.

"Let's just get this over with and see if the hat is magical!" complains a fourth kid.

"Fine!" says the first kid.

"Fine!" says the second kid.

They slowly build a snowman, and when they are done, they decorate it a bit. They seem excited once they finish.

"Now that is a Snowman!" says the third kid.

"Well, come on, put on his hat!" shouts the fourth kid.

They put the hat upon the head, and then something miraculous happens.

"Happy Birthday!" says the Snowman.

"AHHHHH!" the first kid screams in terror as the snowman comes to life.

The other kids look on in awe as he moves around.

"Hey, I said my first words. But...but snowmen can't talk! Hehehe. All right, come on now, what's the joke?" Frosty asks with a laugh.

Frosty starts to move around with glee as if testing his newfound life.

"What do you know? I'm even ticklish. In fact, I'm all living! I am alive! What a neat thing to happen to a nice guy like me. So what do you say we have some fun?" asks Frosty as some music started to play.

"There must have been some magic in that old silk hat they found.

For when they placed it on his head, he began to dance around.

Frosty the snowman was alive as he could be, and the children say he could laugh and play just the same as you and me."

POV Shift Rio

The war had lasted long, and we had lost many good men and women. But with the help of General Frosty, we were slowly making progress against the vile forces of adults.

"Incoming!" screams a kid.

We dive for cover as dozens of snowballs come crashing down from above, from the other side of no man's land.

I throw snowballs with the help of the kids and Frosty at the other team, which was mostly adults. I don't fully know how it happened, but the entirety of Central Park has turned into a Snowwarzone. I wasn't complaining, as it had been a tough but rewarding battle.

I get set up on the snowball machine gun and lay down cover fire to reduce the incoming snow artillery strikes.

I spot Tony in my crosshairs and open fire, obliterating him and burying him in a few feet of snowballs.

I look down and see I was out of ammo.

"Uh oh," I say as I see Lucy with a massive snowball.

The snowball is placed in a catapult also made of snow and launched at us. My eyes widen in horror as the massive projectile rapidly approaches my machine gun nest. I jump off the nest just before it, and a large section of the snow wall is destroyed.

"Fix bayonets and charge!" screams Mal0 while holding a snow sword.

"Frosty, use it!" I scream as the enemy charges us.

Frost nods and stands up while grabbing a funnel and scooping up a large amount of snow and placing it into his back.

Ratatatatatatatatata!

It was a snowy massacre as Frosty opened fire on the charging enemies. Dozens of enemies were pelted with snowballs and fell to the ground in death throes. The sheer devastation of the adults' team was poignant. Bodies were spread across no man's land, but they kept trying to get to us. When Frosty stopped to reload, Mal0 showed her head, but that was a mistake as she took the full brunt of Frosty's snowball attack. Those behind her looked on in horror as the snowballs hit her in the open mouth and literally filled her entire maw with snow.

The adults raised the white flag in surrender. But we were too brave to accept their surrender.

"Come on, guys, those white flags are no match for our snowballs! Get them!" I shout as I grab snowballs and start chasing down the weak and wounded adults.

We heroically slaughtered our enemies as they begged for mercy. But we had to take a break from destroying our enemies to have lunch.

"The weather has been most delightful today," I say in a posh accent.

"Indubitably," Frosty said in a similar accent, which makes sense as I was Frosty.

My template after Shoan Killian was Frosty the Snowman, and I had just completed the assimilation a day ago on the 23rd of December. It was fairly basic for a template. I got some Christmas Magic powers and some level of cartoon logic. I could also turn into a hat. But all I cared about was how fun it was to play around with my friends, and what better way than to destroy them in a game of advanced snowball warfare?

The template I got after Frosty was pretty good. It was Neji Hyuga from Naruto. The skill potential was pretty interesting. The Byakugan was weird to play around with. Though it has a nice little feature when used with Truesight. Other than that, the gear was decent enough. Mostly Ninja tools and some ninjutsu and taijutsu scrolls. At least the Eight Trigrams 64 Palms was adjusted to be useful against people who don't have Chakra. It's still not the most useful against more powerful foes, but it was still a pretty good option and had its uses. But the addition of yet another power source was arguably the best reward. Chakra was quite unique in terms of energy, and I couldn't wait to see how I could use it.

After lunch we played for a few more hours, but eventually it was getting towards time that everyone had to go home. The kids were disapointed but that was all changed when we started hearing a distinct jingle.

"Look up in the sky!" shouts one kid.

I look up and smile as I spot a certain flying sleigh being pulled by reindeer. The sleigh comes in for a landing, and off the sleigh comes Santa. Or rather, my clone disguised as Santa, as I needed an excuse to get Frosty away.

"Ho! Ho! Ho! Merry Christmas, everyone!" says Santa jovially.

The kids crowd around him, but someone has to speak up about his doubt; this causes and impromtu song.

(AN: Play Jingle, Jingle, Jingle from Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer on YouTube for the music if you want to listen along. )

"Jingle, jingle, jingle

You will hear my sleigh bells ring

I am ol' Kris Kringle

I'm the king of jing-a-ling

Jingle, jingle reindeer

Through the frosty air they'll go

They are not just plain deer

They're the fastest deer I know

Ho ho!

You must believe that on Christmas Eve

I won't pass you by

I'll dash away in my magic sleigh

Flying through the sky

Jingle, jingle, jingle

You will hear my sleigh bells ring

I am ol' Kris Kringle

I'm the king of Jing-a-ling

Ho ho!

You must believe that on Christmas Eve

I won't pass you by

I'll dash away in my magic sleigh

Flying through the sky

Jingle, jingle, jingle

You will hear my sleigh bells ring

I am ol' Kris Kringle

I'm the king of Jing-a-ling

I am ol' Kris Kringle

I'm the king of jing-a-ling

Ho ho!"

Cheers

Everyone seems quite happy with his little song and dance number. Even I had to admit it was nice to hear that song again. But that happy mood turns a bit sombre when they realise it was time for Frosty to go.

"Do you really have to go, Frosty?" asks a little girl.

"I'm sorry, but it's not goodbye forever. I'll be back next year, I promise," Frosty says with a smile.

"Okay, but you can't break your promise," says the little girl.

"Of course not! What kind of Snowman would I be if I broke a promise?" Frosty says with a smile.

Frosty gets on the sleigh and waves goodbye to everyone as they take off and head North. things quicky wind down from there, and we all go home. Of course, I still had some work to do. Those presents wouldn't deliver themselves. And this would be the first year where we delivered gifts to two different planets. Of course, I wasn't that worried; Christmas Spirit was far from in crisis like last year, and this time we would have even more help as Mal0 volunteered to help this year, and I wasn't one to turn down some additional help.

Timeskip

"Here's to another successful Christmas!" I say while toasting my cup.

CHEERS!

The cheers are loud and jolly as they should be, and I even spot Santa looking a bit healthier and even chatting with Mrs Claus. We celebrated quite extensively, and I was given some very interesting Cider. I don't fully remember what happened after that other than a large box in my room that, when opened, was a wrapped Mal0, except the wrapping wasn't all that extensive.

As to what happened after that, well, I suppose that was a story for another time.

Merry Christmas
