Chapter 4 - Lin's House-2

Once I tried to open the door, I found that this room was the main one for Lin's work.

A lot of servers, monitors, laptops, and hard disks... a lot of them actually.

While I was looking inside the room, John said, "Just a reminder!" Why were we looking inside of his house while he got killed near the gate of the house?!

I looked at John, who was standing at the door of the room, and told him, "If he got killed near his place, then that means someone was tracking him down to know where he lives, and after he got the info he wants, he decided that Lin's is no more benefit for him."

John nodded his head while saying, "Could be right indeed," but he was looking for and how he managed to find it between all of this stuff?!

I went to John and then switched the light at his right and said, "Let's find out."

We spent some time looking inside the room for any missing hard drive from any server or any damaged parts, but the result was nothing more than a nonsense time.

We searched the whole room, moved the shelves, broke some walls, cut the carpets of the room, and cut the curtains, and after all that…was nothing!

John screamed and said, "We've been searching for 4 hours!!! What the h*** are we going to do now?! I'm totally exhausted now!

I sat on the floor tired and sweating, and then I said to him, "I don't know, bro…" I don't know at all; this is madness.

John started to move in the room while yelling about the time we spent on nothing, and…he suddenly stopped?

I moved my head to the back to see John standing in front of a wall and saying, "Am I imagining this, or are the room's windows static?"

I didn't get it properly, so I asked him, "What do you mean by that?"

He ran outside the room and headed downstairs while he was saying, "Look at me from the window."

I stood in front of the window, looking from it to the side space of the house area. I stood there for a while, but still John was not there. I thought John was joking or something, so I've decided to go down after him.

While I was going down the stairs, the closer I got to the house door, the more I heard a voice, but once I opened the door, the voice was clear. That was John; he was yelling, "Hey!!!!" Can you see me?! Bro! Hey!! Are you there?

I answered him, "Yes, I'm here."

He looked at his right and saw me standing there, then he asked me, "Did you get it now?"

I nodded my head quietly, and then we moved to the same room again together. John entered the room first and tried to take off the windows.

While he was trying to take it off, he was hardly talking, but he said, "How these fake windows are created—well, it's nailed or something."

I replied to him: Did you think it was glued or what?!

He rolled his eyes around and then said in a sarcastic way, "Then why don't you come and give me a handyman?"

I assured him that he is an idiot, and then we started to take off the wooden external frame of it, and after a few times of pulling out like little kids, it finally came out, and behind it was a digital OLED screen that displays a scene that perfectly matches the view outside the house of the side John was standing and yelling from.

John looked at me and said, "This is madness, of course." Why would someone put screens in the place of a window?

I said to him while I was trying to remove the screen, "If you're a normal person...it would be madness. I agree with you, but...since our guy was a developer working with the government on a project that we don't know yet, and after all these years of his death, this screen thing is pretty logical."

Once I've finished my words, I successfully remove the screen; behind it there is a safe.

John started smiling and told me to get aside to give him the space he needs to open this safe. The safe needs a passcode of 3 digits, and after 3 wrong attempts, the safe doesn't accept any other trials, and we need to wait for an hour to try once again.

We worked like this for 6 hours in a row, and it's almost 2 am now, and we're so tired, and John is acting like he went totally crazy now.

We decided to sort the room and come back tomorrow and try to unlock that safe; half an hour passed, and the room is well sorted as a new one… While we were almost deciding to leave now, we heard footsteps coming on the stairs, and we jumped under the bed immediately.

The door of the room got opened, and someone entered the room and headed to the place of the safe. Like, he already knows its place from the beginning. He started removing the wooden frame, then the screen, and another 6 and another 6 and another 6? "Really, that is the code?" John said that while he was frustrated, and then I put my hand on his mouth to shut him. For our good luck, that guy didn't hear John; he put his hand inside of the safe and took out a USB flash drive, as I could see in the darkness of the room since the whole electricity was not working properly somehow.

While he was trying to leave the room, John got out of under the bed and stood up, pointing his gun towards that guy while saying, Freeze! That's Detective John from Detective's Unit!

I got up also after John and saw that guy standing in front of the door while his back was to us. Then John asked him to throw the USB flash drive to us. That guy stood there for a while and then said, "I don't need any more, so you can have it as you like."

Once he finished his words, he threw the flash drive on us, and when we tried to evade it randomly because of the darkness, he ran away and went downstairs. I told John to look for the flash drive, and I will go after him.

I went after him, but when I arrived at the door of the house, I found him going away in his car that was barely visible in the darkness of the night.

I went upstairs to John, disappointed. When I got up to him, I found out that he got the flash drive.

While John was holding the flash drive, he said to me, "At least we got the flash drive. Let's move now and go to the office and see what this little guy is hiding."

I looked at him, and then I said, "Sure, let's go."

We were super tired then and were moving like zombies exactly; however, we needed to arrive at the office and analyze the data inside of this USB flash drive... I hope this drive got a good amount of data that could help us somehow.

We stayed in the small family car of John for a bit to rest.

In a frustrated way John said, "Why did we accept that cursed case?! I feel like we will never find a solution for that case even after we get the flash drive!

I asked him, "Why are you saying that, bro? We got the flash drive at least.

John looked at me and said, "That guy wasn't even caring about the flash drive!" It feels like he knew that we're there, like someone sent him to us to get the flash drive and give it to us...this is madness.

I replied to him then: "Bro, calm down!" Hold up and just wait for it; everything will be alright.

John replied, saying, "We shouldn't accept that case, bro...we were too arrogant to think that we could solve a case that was closed for 14 years!" Can you even believe that? 14 years! more than a whole decade! How could we solve that case?! Just...let's roll for now, bro.

I assured him, saying, "Don't worry, John, everything will be alright, and we will solve that case and earn the high credits of it and be the most famous detectives in the town or even in the whole country." Just...let's rest for now, and let's roll, dude.
