Chapter 73 - Chapter 73 – Arthur Weasley’s Greatest Invention

"Dad! Mum!"

"Mr Grindelwald's here!"

The red-haired young man hurriedly opened the door wider and quickly stepped aside to let Lucien inside while shouting toward the upper floor.

"Hello, Mr Grindelwald. I'm William Arthur Weasley, the eldest son of the Weasley family. You can call me Bill."

Bill extended his hand politely.

Lucien set the gifts down beside the doorway before gently shaking his hand and giving a slight nod.

"Lucien Grindelwald. It's a pleasure to meet you, Mr Weasley."

A series of hurried footsteps immediately echoed from upstairs.

Mrs Weasley practically rushed down the staircase and pulled Lucien into a tight embrace the moment she reached him.

"My poor boy, welcome to our home."

Arthur followed behind her with a broad smile.

Today happened to be one of his rare days off, so he had stayed home instead of going to the Ministry. He had originally planned to spend the morning tinkering with Muggle items in the garden shed but had never expected Lucien to visit personally.

"I apologise for arriving without warning," Lucien said politely.

"What nonsense are you talking about?" Molly replied immediately. "Come in and sit down."

"You've arrived at the perfect time! I baked fresh biscuits this morning. You must try them!"

She enthusiastically dragged Lucien toward the table before placing a huge bowl of homemade biscuits directly in front of him.

Lucien quietly observed the Burrow's interior surroundings.

The house had clearly been expanded using the Undetectable Extension Charm, making the interior much larger than it appeared from outside.

Still, countless miscellaneous objects filled nearly every available corner. The kitchen, dining area, and sitting room were all crowded tightly together, giving the home a somewhat chaotic appearance.

The building itself was visibly old and crooked.

Yet despite the clutter, everything remained remarkably clean.

It was obvious Molly maintained the house with meticulous care.

Lucien picked up one of the biscuits and took a bite.

A rich buttery aroma instantly filled his mouth.

The ingredients had clearly not been spared.

"It's delicious," he said sincerely. "I really like it."

Molly's smile widened immediately.

"I'm glad you like them! I'll pack some for you to take back to Hogwarts later."

"Thank you very much."

Lucien accepted her kindness without hesitation.

He could tell Molly genuinely felt happy that he enjoyed her baking. This was not simple politeness.

Ron's embarrassment over bringing homemade snacks onto the Hogwarts Express had clearly been nothing more than childish self-consciousness.

Delighted by his response, Molly immediately bustled back into the kitchen to prepare another batch for him.

Arthur took the opportunity to sit beside Lucien, speaking in a lowered voice.

"How are things at the Ministry now? They're not giving you any more trouble, are they?"

"No," Lucien replied calmly. "After last night's incident, they probably won't dare make things difficult for me again."

"That's good." Arthur patted Lucien gently on the shoulder. "I'll keep an ear open once I return to work."

Bang!

A loud explosion suddenly erupted from somewhere behind the house.

Lucien instinctively reached for his wand before noticing Arthur's embarrassed expression and Molly's furious glare.

"Arthur Weasley!" Molly shouted from the kitchen. "How many times have I told you? If you want to play with those Muggle contraptions, do it outside—not in the house!"

"Molly… there's a child here…" Arthur pleaded weakly.

Molly shot him a vicious glare but ultimately spared him further humiliation in front of Lucien.

Arthur smiled awkwardly.

"Sorry about that. You must think we're rather ridiculous."

Lucien smiled faintly, though inwardly he suddenly understood something.

No wonder Fred and George loved conducting dangerous experiments at home.

Their father was clearly the perfect role model.

Then Lucien suddenly remembered Arthur's flying car from the future.

According to the timeline, Harry and Ron would use it at the beginning of next year's school term.

That meant Arthur had likely already completed the prototype.

Lucien's eyes brightened instantly.

This was an incredible invention.

If the Ministry ever approved its widespread production, it could easily become a powerful competitor to broomsticks.

"Uncle Arthur," Lucien said with genuine curiosity, "I've always been very interested in Muggle inventions."

"If you don't mind, could you show me your collection?"

"Really?"

Arthur's eyes lit up immediately.

Within wizarding society, fascination with Muggle items was usually treated as laughable nonsense. That was one of the primary reasons pure-blood families looked down upon him.

Now someone actually shared his interests.

How could he not be excited?

"Of course it's true," Lucien replied with a small smile. "Assuming Uncle Arthur is willing."

"Willing? Of course I'm willing!"

Afraid Lucien might suddenly change his mind, Arthur immediately grabbed him and practically dragged him toward the back garden.

Although calling it a "garden" was generous.

The area looked more like a neglected field than a proper yard. Overgrown grass covered the ground, tangled shrubs crept along the fences, and a muddy pond occupied one side of the property.

Several gnomes could even be seen darting between patches of weeds.

"Out of the way, you little troublemakers!"

Arthur carefully avoided stepping on them as they walked.

Eventually they arrived beside a weathered wooden shed standing some distance away.

Arthur excitedly pushed open the door.

"Allow me to introduce my greatest creation—a flying car!"

Lucien carefully examined the old Ford Anglia parked inside.

At first glance, it looked completely ordinary.

But beneath its surface, Lucien could clearly sense layers upon layers of magical enchantments.

"Would you like to try it?" Arthur asked eagerly. "I can take you for a short flight around the area."

Lucien hesitated for a brief moment before asking cautiously:

"Do you… happen to have a driving licence?"

"A driving licence?" Arthur blinked in confusion. "What's that?"

Of course.

Lucien instantly felt a chill run down his spine.

Illegal modifications.

No licence.

Exactly what he expected from wizards experimenting with Muggle technology.

If something went wrong while flying, there probably wouldn't even be time to crash properly.

The horrifying image of Ron's future driving abilities suddenly flashed through his mind.

Lucien decisively changed the subject.

"Uncle Arthur, I'm actually more interested in how the magical modifications were integrated into the vehicle itself."

"That's quite complicated!" Arthur immediately became animated.

"At first I tried enchanting the entire car with a levitation charm, but I quickly realised that wasn't enough."

"It only caused the vehicle to float without proper control. To truly stabilise movement and direction, I had to dismantle nearly all the internal mechanical structures."

Arthur grew increasingly excited as he explained.

"I must admit, Muggles possess remarkably creative engineering concepts…"

Lucien listened attentively while Arthur enthusiastically rambled through countless technical details.

"I still have all my notes from when I modified the car," Arthur suddenly added. "If you'd like, I can let you read them."

"Really?" Lucien's eyes brightened with genuine surprise. "Thank you, Uncle Arthur."

These notes were extraordinarily valuable.

Arthur himself might not fully understand their significance, but Lucien immediately recognised the possibilities hidden within them.

With these ideas as a foundation, he could develop countless magical products that combined wizarding magic with Muggle engineering.

At that point, all he would need was Fudge's support and enough pressure on the pure-blood families.

The profits would become unimaginable.

"Oh, it's nothing important." Arthur laughed happily. "There aren't many wizards interested in the Muggle world these days."

He rummaged through the shed excitedly before finally uncovering a dusty old notebook buried beneath several piles of junk.

"This is it," he said proudly while handing it over. "It contains quite a few of my ideas."

Just then, Molly's furious voice suddenly rang out from behind them.

"Arthur Weasley! You are absolutely not allowed to corrupt children with your nonsense!"
