Chapter 73 - Chapter 73 – The Invisibility Cloak

Hagrid placed one enormous hand heavily onto Logan's shoulder and laughed warmly.

"So you're Logan Anderson!"

"I've heard loads about you already. Never expected yeh ter be such good friends with Harry though."

Then Hagrid grinned even wider.

"But now yeh're my good friend too!"

Before Logan could react, Hagrid suddenly grabbed him and pulled him directly against his chest.

The giant groundskeeper enthusiastically rubbed Logan's face against muscles harder than tree trunks.

Logan nearly suffocated.

Ron watched the scene enviously from nearby.

Back then, why didn't Hagrid welcome him with this level of enthusiasm?

Then he saw Logan's expression slowly turning purple from suffocation.

Ron reconsidered immediately.

Actually…

Never mind.

He definitely couldn't survive that either.

Meanwhile, Logan desperately escaped Hagrid's terrifying embrace before decisively changing the subject.

Specifically—

Why Hermione had just set part of the stadium on fire beneath Snape's seat.

The moment that topic appeared, Ron instantly became excited again.

He immediately retold everything that happened during the Quidditch match in dramatic detail.

By the end of the explanation, both he and Hermione had essentially declared Snape guilty of every crime imaginable.

According to them, Snape was unquestionably the mastermind behind Harry's broom malfunction.

After listening quietly, Hagrid frowned deeply.

"Professor Snape's a teacher at Hogwarts," he said firmly.

"He'd never do somethin' like that."

"You lot shouldn't go around slanderin' him."

Hermione immediately became furious.

"But he was clearly muttering a curse at Harry during the match!"

"I read in a book that continuous eye contact and repeated chanting are necessary for that kind of spell!"

"Snape absolutely did something!"

Still, Hagrid remained completely unmoved.

"Nope," he insisted stubbornly. "Yeh must've misunderstood."

"Professor Snape'd never hurt Harry."

Soon the group started arguing intensely.

In the middle of the chaos, Harry accidentally revealed what happened during the incident with the three-headed dog.

Hagrid panicked instantly.

In his flustered state, he accidentally revealed both the dog's name—Fluffy—and another important clue.

Nicolas Flamel.

The moment the name slipped out, Hagrid realized his mistake and looked horrified.

Meanwhile, Logan quietly followed behind the group while thinking about something entirely different.

Dumbledore really is fishing.

The thing hidden behind Fluffy was obviously the Philosopher's Stone.

An alchemical treasure standing near the absolute peak of magical creation.

But honestly…

Was there any safer place in Hogwarts than directly beside Dumbledore himself?

Obviously not.

So why use a giant three-headed dog to guard it?

Simple.

Because the obstacle existed specifically to attract attention.

To bait someone.

And everyone already knew exactly who Dumbledore wanted to lure out.

Eventually, Hagrid became so frightened by the children's questioning that he hurriedly invented a terrible excuse and escaped immediately.

Still, Harry and the others gained one valuable clue.

Nicolas Flamel.

As long as they discovered who Flamel was, they could uncover what Fluffy guarded.

And once they learned that, they could expose Snape's "evil plan."

Honestly, the logic was surprisingly coherent.

Unfortunately for Snape, he had already become the perfect scapegoat in their minds.

Logan didn't particularly care.

This entire situation was part of Dumbledore's carefully arranged trial for Harry.

Interfering unnecessarily would only create problems.

Compared to that, Logan was far more interested in accumulating additional Legend Points and continuing development of his first true Forbidden Spell.

If possible, he also wanted to uncover the Silver Cup's hidden abilities.

And so, Hogwarts life quietly continued.

Classes.

Homework.

Magic practice.

Daily chaos.

During this period, Hermione and Harry searched through countless books attempting to discover Nicolas Flamel's identity.

Unfortunately, they found absolutely nothing.

Their investigation completely stalled.

Harry became increasingly frustrated day after day.

Then before anyone realized it—

Christmas arrived.

Ron wouldn't be returning home during the holidays because the Weasley family planned to visit Charlie overseas.

Harry, meanwhile, had no desire whatsoever to return to Privet Drive.

So naturally, both boys decided to remain at Hogwarts for Christmas.

Originally, Logan planned to return home himself.

Unfortunately, Hudgens informed him through a letter that his parents had apparently accepted an invitation from distant relatives in France to attend some musical performance.

At the moment, they were traveling around Europe.

Meaning—

If Logan returned home now, he'd merely spend Christmas alone inside an empty house.

That sounded miserable.

He'd much rather remain at Hogwarts with Harry and Ron.

The instant Harry and Ron discovered Logan was also effectively homeless for Christmas, they nearly celebrated on the spot.

Ron looked seconds away from dragging everyone into singing the Hogwarts school anthem together.

Then Hermione learned the news too.

To Logan's surprise, she immediately invited him to spend Christmas with her family instead.

"My parents would definitely be happy to welcome you," she said sincerely.

"I think it'd be a wonderful Christmas."

Logan nearly died from fear on the spot.

No.

Absolutely not.

Going there sounded incredibly dangerous in an entirely different way.

He immediately declined using "a troublesome curse situation" as his excuse.

Ron blinked in confusion afterward.

"Why didn't Hermione invite us too?"

Harry immediately stared at Ron the same way someone would stare at a particularly slow troll.

He very badly wanted to explain the obvious difference between Logan and the rest of them.

But after thinking for a while…

Harry gave up.

Some truths simply couldn't be taught.

Meanwhile, Logan genuinely did have a serious problem occupying his thoughts.

He was currently attempting to create an incredibly powerful Forbidden Spell.

More specifically—

Something resembling the gigantic armored manifestations from that anime called Eye Legend.

Using the Transformation Spell as the core.

Combined with Shield Charms, Enlargement Charms, and the Patronus Charm.

The Patronus Charm itself was significantly harder than ordinary magic, but Logan already understood much of its underlying theory.

At least for now, he didn't need to cast the completed spell physically.

He only needed to perfect the theoretical structure inside the Grimoire.

A colossal armored construct possessing terrifying offensive and defensive power.

A giant magical avatar.

The thought alone filled Logan with excitement.

Especially after witnessing Hufflepuff's sudden death inside the memory world, Logan became obsessed with adding automatic defensive responses whenever he encountered lethal danger.

Unfortunately, another problem quickly emerged.

The Legend Point requirement was horrifying.

Through endless experimentation, Logan discovered that at minimum, eight spells were necessary to stabilize the theory:

Transformation SpellShield CharmEngorgement CharmPatronus CharmPetrification CurseBlasting CurseRevealing CharmRepair Charm

The latter four mainly served supporting functions.

The real foundation remained the first four.

Learning them wasn't actually the difficult part.

The terrifying issue was the required Legend Point consumption.

Even after optimizing the theory repeatedly, the Grimoire still demanded an absurd amount of power to fully realize the Forbidden Spell.

Logan sighed heavily.

Honestly…

If only he knew that "Invincible Divine Might" spell used by Slytherin and Gryffindor inside the memory world.

With that spell acting as the core foundation, Logan felt confident he could complete the entire Forbidden Spell framework by second year.

Invincible Divine Might as the main body.

Shield Charm and Patronus Charm as defensive support.

Engorgement Charm for amplification.

Transformation as the operational structure.

Then additional spells refined through Grimoire enhancement.

Eventually—

A fully realized magical giant.

At that point, Logan would literally pilot a magical Gundam inside Hogwarts.

Any weird monster.

Any ancient horror.

Even Voldemort himself—

All of them would get punched directly into the ground.

Then Logan paused.

"No…"

"A giant fist feels too crude."

"We need a weapon."

"…Maybe a hammer?"

His thoughts spiraled increasingly out of control.

Ultimately, though, the biggest issue remained unchanged.

Not enough Legend Points.

Otherwise, why would he still be sitting here sighing while Ron happily played Wizard Chess nearby?

Logan rubbed his temples tiredly.

Maybe…

Maybe he really should sneak into the Restricted Section soon.

Perhaps there were hidden spells there capable of helping him refine his Forbidden Spell theory further.

.....

Inside the boys' dormitory later that night—

Harry suddenly burst through the door carrying a package excitedly.

"A Christmas present!" he exclaimed happily.

"It has to be!"

Harry immediately dropped the package onto the bed and eagerly opened it in front of everyone.

Logan already knew what it was.

Right around this time…

Harry received the Invisibility Cloak.

One of the legendary Deathly Hallows.

Sure enough, Harry pulled out an old yellowish cloak from inside the package.

Logan stared at it silently.

This ugly thing is one of the three greatest legendary treasures in wizarding history?

Its appearance was honestly disappointing.

Harry excitedly wrapped the cloak around himself.

Instantly, everything below his head disappeared completely.

Ron practically lost his mind.

He abandoned Wizard Chess immediately and circled Harry repeatedly in amazement.

"Incredible!"

"I want one too!"

The cloak's function was obvious.

Perfect invisibility.

Still, Harry quickly became thoughtful.

Who exactly sent this to him?

Ron immediately offered a theory.

"Maybe it belonged to your dad."

That explanation successfully eased Harry's concerns somewhat.

Then suddenly, another thought struck him.

If he possessed an Invisibility Cloak…

Couldn't he sneak into the Restricted Section tonight and search for information about Nicolas Flamel?

Before leaving earlier, Hermione secretly mentioned that the Restricted Section might contain relevant clues.

At this point, Harry firmly connected discovering Nicolas Flamel's identity with stopping Snape's "evil plan."

Which meant he was more motivated than ever.

Harry immediately turned toward Logan.

"Logan," he said hopefully, "what if we use the Invisibility Cloak together and sneak into the Restricted Section tonight?"

"Want to come with me?"

Among all their friends, Logan remained the only person who never treated Snape like a villain.

So Harry genuinely wasn't sure whether he'd agree.

Still…

Going alone at night felt dangerous.

With Logan beside him, things would definitely be safer.

Logan blinked slightly.

The Restricted Section?

Honestly, he already planned to sneak in there eventually anyway.

Since Harry brought it up first, there was no reason to refuse.

Seeing Logan agree immediately moved Harry deeply.

In Harry's mind, Logan clearly accepted only because he worried Harry might encounter danger alone.

That's so considerate…

Meanwhile, Ron discovered both of his friends planned a secret midnight adventure without him.

Naturally, he instantly insisted on joining too.

With Logan around, what danger could possibly exist?

This sounded exciting.

Then another issue emerged.

The Invisibility Cloak looked barely large enough for two people.

Three might accidentally expose feet or hands while moving.

Logan noticed Harry's concern and casually waved it away.

"You two use the cloak together."

"I'll use the Disillusionment Charm myself."

"Don't worry."

"I'll stay nearby."

"And if anything dangerous happens…"

"I'll get us out."

Harry and Ron froze.

Then both shouted simultaneously:

"That's so cool!"

Just like that, the problem was solved perfectly.

Tonight—

The three of them would become nightmares wandering through Hogwarts after midnight.

And Logan's gaze slowly drifted toward the distant library in anticipation.

The Restricted Section.

A place filled with dangerous books.

Forbidden knowledge.

Dark magic.

Perhaps somewhere inside…

He might finally discover the missing piece needed to complete his Forbidden Spell.

Then suddenly, a thought appeared inside Logan's mind.

Could the "Invincible Divine Might" used by Slytherin and Gryffindor…

…actually be hidden somewhere inside the Restricted Section?
