Chapter four
Challenge
Body numb from my previous battle. I listened to them ramble until the finally concluded that not enough was heard
"So thats all you have to say? No more before we quite possibly kill you?."
I gave my answer with pure silence and they no one of them scowled. The other simply brooded until I relented.
"Fine i guess they're is one other thing I'd like to say."
"Take care of my sister's or at least watch over them when you can. Especially the dragon rider."
"Even now.. You think of your sisters" said the brutish one.
"Wow aren't you a dedicated little brother!" she ruffled my hair. And I swatted her away only to hear a giggle from her.
She didn't even know me and she treated me kindly. And yet.. I was exasperated at this point she's going to kill me all for a stupid test of the prophecy. Bitterness creeped in my heart as i got up. My legs crossed i got up from my knees kaiya style. For making an x wards off evil spirits at a crossroads of a decision.
And this.. was most definitely a crossroads.
They noticed too. And smirked to each other. As they began to snarl at one another for who gets to fight me first. Untill I said one thing.
For these were the last word I planned to say to them
"Both."
They looked at me like i was crazy but by the time they realized why. It was too late blitzing up to my feet. i charged them! Making a break for the middle of them. And struck at them both beginning the chant that would end it all. But They both blocked it however to their dismay. They didn't know to the grounds softness. I learned that they couldn't stand firm. Fwoooosh. My body naturally folded to mothers dragon arts of strengthening..
I flicked my gaze to the both still chanting and they blizted towards me at once. Last secound I leaped into the air expecting them to crash only for them both to stop. Not! One them the pink one sprouted wings like mother would. Then flowed into the air! Towards me!
It was then I decided to stupidly face them head on. I clashed with the flying pink women. Making a boom of noise to occur. Shocking us both backwards. Me into the air while her towards the ground. The brooding one leaped sidways tomorrow left. Then leaped for me fist bubling then rumble lave sprang out from the ocean! Rising then falling in large orange yellow and black burst of heat and death!
That dragon! It three towards that dragon!
She dodged it mocking his from her perspective half baked plan to end her flying days.
I panicked and twisted away from his punch. Mid air! Falling to the ground the pink one did some strange. recovery maneuver spirling in a backwards flip. Wings angling to catch the coming winds! Making her body halt with a crackbooom of air. then lifted back into the air! Folding flowing into the air untill she swooped a top me mid air drop kicking me towards the ground!
Ooof!
All the while! I noticed once réorientated, the broody one. tan skin to the point of looking pure bronze, my mouth gaped as he surfed towards me. Straight lava below his feet! Waves of lava followed him as if he was some god of lava! Orange fire licking at as feet, propelling him forwards. he spun and flowed his arms into arking punches! shooting blast of lava at me!
I rolled backwards the began to sprint run backwards hoping their were no rocks or divetes behind me! So of course I dodged the flaming strands of lava!
Left right back a skid then hop forwards. moving rapidly between spaces i realized hes trapped me boom! I was sent back flying into the air! Still chanting the pink one laughed as she rapidly sped up. spinning around my body knocking me all over the air one after the other.
Boom! I fell higher into the air, only for her to— boom! Kick me down towards the ground making me falter as the altitude rapidly decending made me want to hurl. boom! And I was knocked back up even higher than before! Into the air.
As she just began to dance amungst the sky, in between blows. Making me fall and rise like shes playing with a volleyball ball.
Then as if hearing me—
I had enough!
This time letting each blow land. Each leading me exactly were she wants me to be until. wham! I twisted around and once more kicked— she simply flowed under my attack an rye smile on her face.
As she snatched my leg spun me mid air. My head getting dizzy. Environment blurry. She threw me to tan boy. Kaboooom said the wind as I broke through it.
Crack said its after shock as the wind began to rejoin itself.
I realized I was delirious from all the ups, downs side to side horde of moves I went through.
Then nearly finishing the chant my spin got a nasty blow to it! thankfully not filled with lava. But devasti— i blew back into the air and threw the pain and bleeding tongue i said the last words "come to me my sword! my light! my night strider!"
A blade booooomed into existence as i saw it my familial blade. Time itself seemed to burst around me in color waves, of an aurora! Space slowed around me. The blade. Night strider, glowing with the signs of the stars themselves.
Nebula reflected inside the blade itself. And then the sun within glowed bright blue! Inwardly ducking in my mana the pain was exstructiating! Then it seized it all then strength flowed into my muscles. And I realised why it was made
Bodily strength over mana! All this happend in 3 seconds
And time flowed normally once more. And my body moves as if by instinct. Cutting out Umnnecessary thoughts. And I began to sky walk, a technique passed down. From my mother i twisted my feet around the sky itself and burst forwards. Suprising the pink one I slashed her chest— she immieatly scaled her torso expanding flesh molding over her! Stark white bone muscle began to form as pink flames sprouted from her now scaled dragons chest!
blocking the blade barely with dragon scales. Only to burst high! into the sky! through the first cloud layer. Though now as im falling i realised we were aready half way up there.
Crackboooooom! I fell the burst of wind knocking me back towards the grounds below.
Wind rushing me like my father did all those years ago.. " father!" I turned around my back no longer to the ground. i saw the tan guy surfing on lava watching me fall. I opened my arms and legs creating drag to slow me. Just like—
My body moved like a viper sliding on air as I danced across the sky just shy of the— lava! My body folded backwards as my head towards the ground. Met the mans eyes deep and magma colored. They seemed— i leaped sideways upon the sky itself. As if the very air and heat rushed me bent to my will! I could feel it faintly as my magical senses faded. The dragons magic was clear and orange sparkled and balled.
It was like he was manipulating the lava on a atomic lev—
And i burst to the grounds away from the lava. Catching myself with the blade in the ground. Knowing it hasn't fully dried yet! Scraping the pure stone and dirt. I braced myself upon the ground.
And then my worst fears happend.
They. transformed!! Then the most strangest sound occured as they did. The sound of space growling, crackling, crunching like icebergs about to crumble. Deep beneath the waves and above, occured. Something I had only heard stories about. reality, itself was bending. Bending to the will of dragons. Fire! My head flicked up! Pink flames burst to life above the sky. a scorching pink comet falling like an angel in flight!
Angelic wings formed as it, no she decended
Except this time it was pink flames soaring to grounds below. Worst yet space bent towards the tan skinned dragon. Twisted around him the sky itself bending to his will. His form cracked the sky! And a rush of air sucked me in like a wave ready to roar. And. It. Did. Wind! No a storm of wind blasted me backwards. And then the lava surronding him flowed around his increasingly warped form. His back arching as his lava veiled formed howled silently.
The last I saw of his human form was..
Brutal.
looking his body was shifting around. His bones pulsing bump, bump. bump, bump. Eventually breaking skin! Blood masking his bleach white bones. As the veil had to slip lest his bones be scorched to ash or worse. And yet, that wasn't the worst part.
Worst yet his jaw. Time seemed to slow around me as if the sky. Caught up to me. And got me between its grasp. For I couldn't move then I couldn't breath as his form was covered in lava. Magma dripping from his bare bones his screams turned to a deep roar. As his body got bigger. Body pulsing with growing veiled in orange hot lave muscle! And bigger. Wings expanding as if leaving a cocoon! And bigger still!
Then it was finally done! And i—
Pink scales greeted me completely forgetting about what i just saw. I rufled around until I could hack at the soft scales. For the increasingly painful grip of the dragon began to hurt!! like I was being crushed between those old hydrolic presses. That they bring out for museums!
Crack the sound of scales breaking and hot! Gushing heavy blood began to drown me! As half my body!
was being crushed between these talons? No claws! I slashed one.
Last.
Time.
And the true heat was unleashed as i was thrown happazardly towards the ground! By then the tan skinned guy was a massive over 3 stories tall dragon! For an adolescent he was big. While his body was certainly large it was covered. In straight lava the look of a cowl made of magma formed over the dragon. And his ey—
Focus on the battle!not the fear!
Are you okay! What's happening to him? A female voice spoke
My thoughts were painfull!! What's going on!!?
I dont know im not a human doctor!! A male voice said
My eyes flickered open and then. Amidst their panic i uh.. passed out.
That was the last time i ever saw home in decades.1
