Chapter 48 - Offer

Hajin turned his back on Yenna and faced registration, keeping one hand parked beside the waiting core.

He slapped the paid fine receipt down between the core and the signed testimony, "Three reasons to find the right ledger, and I'd love it if none of them turned into a fourth reason to inspect my coat."

"Fifty silver restitution for the pillar," he added, tapping the date with one finger, "settled two days ago, so confirm it before somebody mistakes this rock for payment on some older debt."

The registrar squinted at the stamp, then dragged the restitution ledger across the desk toward her chair.

"Cleared on the sixth day, sir," she breathed, one finger stopping on the matching entry, "the property account carries no outstanding balance."

Hajin nodded and slid the receipt back once her pen marked the verification.

"One pillar, fifty silver, and fifteen back after they took the boar proof," he grumbled, folding the receipt beside their native coins.
