The second volley tore loose before the survivors could lift their shields, and Hajin hurled the Chain sideways.
A wounded spearman lay beneath the cliff with one leg pinned under his fallen brace, clawing at the rock.
"Don't you dare die on me yet!" he snarled, snapping the loop around the man's waist as a spike began falling.
He hauled the links through both fists while rock fought the trapped leg, wrenching the brace until its support cracked. A spike smashed the spot as the soldier cleared it, and Hajin dragged him toward the wagons by his belt.
The rescued man caught a sideboard with shaking fingers while the next loop whistled past his ear.
"Thank me later, crawl now!"
Hajin whipped the length around the third cart's axle and heaved, rolling the whole wagon away from a collapsing ledge. A teamster crouched beneath that ledge, and Juna lunged through the opened gap to yank him clear by his collar.
