Chapter 123 - In the Void

Hajin reached for the hand holding his wrist, and his own fingers drifted through mist without ever finding Vella's skin. He dragged for a breath and waited for the broken catch under his ribs, but no pain came to answer.

'Where's the pain, where the hell did the pain go?'

The missing pain scared him worse than the last breath choking under Vella's palm.

Three threads tugged at him from somewhere below, and the first one burned with Juna's fire against his open palm. The second pulled like Loccy planting her feet under a blow, and the third one shook with Vella's trembling warmth.

'If I can't hold her fingers, I'll hold whatever she still has tied to me.'

He fisted the threads against his palms as a presence walked out of the mist toward him.

"You grabbed them before you even looked for yourself," the Goddess said, stopping beside his open hands.
