Chapter 71 - Chapter 71: A World Without a Script

The first thing Olivia noticed was the rain.

Real rain.

Not digital particles falling through empty space.

Not fragments of memory pretending to be weather.

Rain.

Cold drops struck her face.

She opened her eyes.

She was standing in the middle of a quiet street.

Cars passed.

Windows glowed.

People hurried beneath umbrellas.

Nobody looked at her.

Nobody recognized her.

For the first time, that felt peaceful.

Olivia looked down at her hands.

They were solid.

No glowing lines.

No system marks.

No fragments of text crawling across her skin.

She turned toward a shop window.

Her reflection stared back.

Just Olivia.

No versions.

No duplicates.

No distortion.

She whispered, "It worked."

A voice behind her answered.

"Did it?"

Olivia turned.

Saif stood beneath an umbrella.

Her heart sank.

"You."

He smiled.

"I told you I was difficult to delete."

"You said you were the first character."

"I was."

"Then why are you here?"

Saif looked around the street.

"I don't know."

That answer frightened her.

The old Saif always knew something.

Always had an explanation.

Now he looked genuinely confused.

Olivia walked toward him.

"Are you part of the new memory?"

"I don't know."

"Are you real?"

He laughed quietly.

"I think that's the first question you should stop asking."

Olivia looked at the street.

A bus passed.

Its destination board read:

ORIGINAL CITY

She froze.

"That's not possible."

Saif followed her gaze.

"What?"

"The name."

He stared at the bus.

Then at Olivia.

"I've never seen that place."

The bus disappeared around the corner.

Olivia followed it.

They reached an intersection.

A large sign stood above the road.

WELCOME TO ORIGINAL CITY

Underneath it was a smaller sentence.

Population: 1

Olivia stopped.

"One?"

Saif looked at her.

"You."

"No."

She pointed toward the city.

"Someone else."

A bell rang somewhere in the distance.

Every light in the city turned off.

One by one.

The streets emptied.

Cars stopped.

People disappeared.

Within seconds, the entire city became silent.

Then a single window illuminated itself in a distant tower.

Olivia recognized the building.

The same room.

The same desk.

The same black notebook.

Her notebook.

She ran.

Saif followed.

Inside the tower, there were no elevators.

Only stairs.

They climbed.

One floor.

Ten.

Twenty.

Fifty.

The higher they went, the more familiar everything became.

Photographs covered the walls.

Each showed Olivia.

But these weren't memories.

They were moments from the new world.

Olivia walking.

Olivia sleeping.

Olivia reading.

Olivia meeting strangers.

Olivia growing older.

She stopped.

"These were taken before they happened."

Saif looked at the photographs.

"Then perhaps they aren't predictions."

"What are they?"

He touched one.

"Instructions."

The lights flickered.

At the top of the staircase stood a door.

No number.

No name.

Just a sentence carved into the wood.

YOU ASKED FOR A WORLD WITHOUT A SCRIPT.

Olivia reached for the handle.

The door opened.

Inside was the room from the beginning.

But someone was sitting at the desk.

A young woman.

Olivia's age.

Her back was turned.

She was writing in the black notebook.

Olivia stepped inside.

"Who are you?"

The woman stopped writing.

Slowly, she turned.

Olivia's blood ran cold.

The woman's face was hers.

But unlike every previous version, this woman looked completely ordinary.

No scars.

No strange eyes.

No system distortion.

She smiled.

"I am the Olivia you created."

Olivia stared.

"But I created this world."

"No."

The woman closed the notebook.

"You created the possibility of it."

She stood.

"I created the world."

Saif stepped forward.

"Then who created you?"

The woman looked at him.

"You already know."

Saif went silent.

Olivia felt the answer before she heard it.

The woman pointed toward the window.

Outside, the entire city began disappearing.

Not collapsing.

Not breaking.

Simply being erased from existence.

"One person was missing from your original memory," she said.

Olivia whispered:

"Who?"

The woman smiled.

"You."

Olivia froze.

The woman continued:

"You spent the entire story trying to find the person you lost."

She opened the notebook.

"But you never realized the truth."

Olivia stepped closer.

"What truth?"

The woman turned the final page toward her.

There was only one sentence.

You were the person you were trying to save.

Behind them, Saif whispered:

"Oh no."

Olivia looked at him.

"Why?"

He pointed at the window.

The city was gone.

The sky was gone.

The tower was disappearing.

And in the empty darkness beyond the glass—

something enormous had opened its eyes.

The woman smiled.

"The new memory has been noticed."

Olivia stared into the darkness.

"What noticed it?"

The answer came from everywhere at once.

"I did."
