Immediately, the chamber began hissing loudly, building pneumatic pressure. Like a compressed coil suddenly snapping, the entire cubicle was launched upward through a dedicated, reinforced launch tube.
A few seconds later, as the cubicle rocketed through the roof of the skyscraper and into the night sky, the automated timer hit zero.
The primary explosives packed into the sub-levels detonated simultaneously.
Mid-air, the escape cubicle's protective shell automatically disassembled and fell away, leaving Solomon suspended in freefall high above the city. He looked down just as the massive explosion ripped through the foundation of the guild headquarters.
A blinding flash of orange fire illuminated the district, followed by a catastrophic roar as the towering skyscraper buckled, and began to collapse inward on itself.
Solomon smiled as he watched the absolute destruction unfold beneath him. 'I could not have asked for a better view,' he thought to himself, completely satisfied.
