"Qingyun Temple's Chen Yu, distinguished among peers, crowned as Nan Zhou's exemplar... bestows the eighth-grade talisman credentials and grants the blue seal..."
"Thank you, Taoism!"
Inside the hall, Gu Yu completed a set of extremely intricate rites, then received a jade disc from Bai Lingyu. On the disc were a jade pendant, a small blue seal, and a blue Taoist robe.
Gold, black, purple, blue, and green—these were the representative colors of Taoist officials in Zhenyang Country. Grades seven, eight, and nine wore green; grades four, five, and six wore blue. Only officials of grade three and above had custom colors: black for grade two, gold for grade one, and white for those without a grade.
Long Yunfeng was a ninth-grade instructor; Gu Yu was an eighth-grade dignitary; and Xun Yu was a seventh-grade abbot. Though all their robes were blue, the seals and robe details contained clear distinctions, making them easy to differentiate.
