Gao Yang successfully brought over a platoon leader, which was a good start. As long as he could use this platoon leader to reach out to a higher-ranking officer, say a company commander, things would become much easier from there.
With the platoon leader leading the way, they wound through and circled around, eventually finding the company commander he was looking for in a house without a roof, which was essentially already a bombed-out ruin.
