Luke had a dream, to be like his father: strong, unwavering, heroic and he was shaping up to be, but then, his father was no more.
The world seemed to mock him as a new era shortly arrived...
The era of Starborns.
Genetically mutated humans with abilities only seen in heroic comics.
Telekinesis, pyrokinesis, speedsters, physical augmentors, people able to control the weather, human animal hybrid, and a few who could even use the mystical arts.
Yet what could he do? He could heal, and not others, but himself, rather slowly too.
He believed all hope was lost.
He, who had once wished to be a hero even before this era, was left behind.
His mortal flesh wouldn’t be of much help against such forces.
And he wasn't rich enough to become a certain man in black.
But then, his savior, though most would call a devil came to him.
He discovered his power had more to it; it was adaptive.
Burn, and it would gain resistance to such flames.
Freeze, and the same cold wouldn’t feel as cold.
As long as he trained, he had no limits.
He could outrun the fastest speedsters eventually.
He could leap higher than the people who could defy gravity and even overcome those endowed with strength.
All he needed was enough training and time.
And his mentor had more than enough of it.
