Chapter 3 - Dusty Waters

Raion, Fourth, and their new found travel companion, Baskia had left 'The smiling soup', and were headed their way down to the Blackwood dock.

Raion lets out a terribly loud burp, then rubs his stomach. "That soup was absolutely splendid. Lets go back for more" He says, as he starts to head back towards the restaurant.

Fourth snatches Raion by the nape of his neck, dragging him backwards, while Fourth remained walking towards the dock. "We got places to be." Raion trys to grab ahold of Fourth hands, attempting to pry them off him. "Fourth!" He manages to free himself from Fourth, fixing the collar of his shirt and cloak.

"Are you sure, thats a good idea..." Baskia pauses for a second, and lets out a big sigh. "You made quiet a scene, surprised they didn't ban us."

"Yeah, Raion. What did I tell you earlier, about being discreet." He says, as he nods his head in agreement to Baskia.

What felt like a stab to the heart to Raion, was purely just him over exaggerating the whole ordeal; which both Fourth and Baskia were well aware of his antics.

"I couldnt just sit there and watch it happen, could I?!"

Fourth, whos listening attentively, brushes his shaggy pink hair out of his face and goes.

"Uh.. Raion, it wasnt that serious."

Raion puts his hands over his mouth in pure shock, he could not believe what Fourth had just said to him. He sneers and says, "Not that serious! How could you say such a thing, and to think I looked up to you."

During Fourth and Raion's one sided dispute, Baskia is trying not to laugh at the matter. Wow, is this really the only group of people who are off to see Wen, and Im curious... how is it that this guy knows where to find her.

Whilst Baskia was over there, pondering his thoughts on Fourth and Wen, he did not feel nor know that Raion was trying to grab his attention. He had been tugging on Baskia's, shirt, shouting his name.

"Baskia! Baskia?! Are you listening?"

Raions desperate plea to get Baskia's attention, had finally worked. Baskia shakes his head snapping himself out of his little trance

"Sorry, what were you saying?"

"I was just saying how, you agree with me on what happened back at 'The smiling Soup', dont you?"

With the most deadpanned expression that anyones seen, Baskia gives Raion a response. "No."

Distraught by Baskia's response, Raion had fallen to his knees. "Even you! Not you too Baskia!"

"The matter really wasnt that serious, Raion. Fourth rolls his eyes back, as he remembered the chaos Raion had caused.

Back at the restaurant prior to them leaving, or in other terms 'almost getting kicked out' The problem that Raion had caused, went as such.

"This pesky fly wont leave us alone." Baskia swats his hand in front of his face, attempting to kill the fly. "Ugh it got away."

"I'll take care of it!" Raion, swiftly stands up from his chair, and starts to say a spell.

Fourth jumps up from his seat, and quickly takes a hold of Raion, by the collar of his cloak; pulling him closer to him, his voice turning from his friendliness to a cold tone. "Raion, please, don't."

Raion shrugs Fourth off of him and sits back in his chair. He slurps up a large heaping of his broccoli and chicken soup. "I could have gotten it."

"No, no you really could not have. You dont even fully know how to use that spell. " Right as Fourth is about to take a bite of his soup, the fly lands onto his spoon.

He had yet to notice that the fly was currently drowning itself in his soup. The spoon carefully moves itself to Fourths mouth.

"How's your split pea soup, Baskia?" Fourth asks, just before he takes a bite of his soup.

"Its surprisingly one of the best soups Ive had here. " States Baskia, as though he has come here plenty of other times.

Baskia's Mind Control magic was currently still active, and would remain active till he had disband his magic spell.

During Baskia's and Fourth's conversation, Raion yet again attempts to get Fourth's attention. "Hey, uh!"

This isn't working, he leaves me no choice! I cant let him eat that fly!

The exact moment that would cause the destruction, was about to happen. "Rudim Magic: Fly be gone!" Raion had acted too swift and quick for Fourth nor Baskia to stop him, because in this exact moment the hood of his cloak had fallen off of him, and wide spread panic occurred.

At first, no one noticed the incident had happened, neither Fourth or Baskia had seen it. It wasnt until, Fourth had looked up from taking a bite of his soup, to scold Raion on not listening to him.

"Raion." Fourth inhales, then sighs deeply. "I thought I told you not to use that spell..." Around them we're people, whispering, staring, and pointing at Raion.

"He's a shadow!?" A customer whispers to another.

The whispers continued, until..."Gaurds! Help me, help us!"

Fourth quickly reaches over the table, knocking his and Baskia's bowl of soup on to the ground, causing a loud crashing noise, and splattering the soup on the ground.

"Raion! Your cloak, the hood fell off!" Fourth yanks the hood of Raion's cloak over his head.

Outside of the restaurant, we're people gathering about to see what all the yelling and comotion was. This brought upon the Gaurds as well, rushing through the restaurant doors.

"What is all the ruckus for!?" Says the Gaurd, shaking his fist vigorously in the air.

Right as a customer was about to speak, Baskia had stood from his chair and looked down at the ground...

I was hoping to finish that.. maybe another time. ...and walked towards the gaurds.

"There was justa little mishap with my soup over here, you see sir, this irritating fly would not leave us alone. My friend over there, was just about to eat the fly. Could you imagine?" The gaurd faces turns sorrow as he makes a grimacing look. While Baskia was lying to the Gaurds, he had already casted his Mind Control Magic: Mass Domain, by thinking of the spell, it had taken its course.

Baskia, was able to create a false sense of reality for everyone in that restaurant. Each person had seen their own viewpoint on the "accident with the fly".

When the gaurds went to question each customer at the Smiling Soup, each had the same story, but the only difference is it was told in various forms.

"It appears that everyone here, had just been startled by none other than a simple fly. The owner said, there was no significant amount of damage done. Only a few broken bowls, no one was hurt in the end. But the owner will have you pay for the damage."

"That is a fair call." Fourth reaches into his pocket, digging deeply into his pockets. He kept pulling out, random junk until he found the 250 Fenos. "Will this suffice?"

"Yes, thank you, that works greatly." The owner takes the Fenos, and shoves it into his pocket, and walks off. But before leaving he goes "Oh and you're all banned for two months."

After the owner had left, Raion stands there, as still as can be, not moving a muscle, a drop of sweat slowly trickles down his forhead. He's behind me. I can sense his dark aura.

Fourth was standing behind Raion, towering over him, glaring down upon him. Fourth firmly places his hand on Raion.

Now back to the orginal storyline. They had begun to walk their way through the lively streets of hurth, weaving and dodging the villagers.

"Now, we cant go back there. And I will have to wait til my taste buds can savor such delicious food." Baskia slumps down on the ground, shaming his head in despair.

They had all finally reached the blackwoods dock.

"It looks like we finally made it, and with a few minutes to spare before the docks closes up, Raion, stay here with Baskia. Im gonna go see about renting a boat out."

Fourth had gone off to find a boat to rent , within a reasonable price, and left Baskia and Raion alone.

Baskia scratches behind his ear, and plops down next to Raion, who is currently sat on he bench; over looking the clear blue waters.

"So Raion, what will you do if Wen can't turn you back?"

Startled by what Baskia had said, so casually to him, Raion had nearly fallen off the bench before Baskia could latch in to his cloak in time to pull him up. Raion felt himself get yanked forward, suddenly beside him is Fourth. Now glaring at Baskia, who has a smirk on his face, goes "She can change him back. Trust her."

Baskia stands up from the bench, fixing his pants and brushing the dirt off, that had latched on.

"In my time it's never a good thing to trust the all sight. "

"What do you mean by your time? You make it sound like you're older than you appear." Raion lets out a nervous laugh and fidgets with his thumbs, not making eye contact with Baskia.

"No, I'm just saying that trusting people is a lot of work to do. I personally trust no one."

Fourth let's go of Raion. "Not even your own friends?"

"Friends, what are those? Anyways, should we head out to the boat? Which one did you get?"

"I'm still worried about Wen not turning me back?!" Raion says frantically.

They all head towards the lower end of the dock, where Fourth had secured them a boat.

"There it is," Fourth points at one of the boats thats lined up against the dock.

Raion scurrys down to the boats, junping onto one of the larger sized ones. "Is this the boat?" He begins jumping with excitement.

"Uh, no. No it is not. Id be broke, if that were the case." Fourth takes a deep breath and points further down the dock. "That's our boat."

"Oh..." Raion and Baskia say simultaneously, lowering their heads in disapproval as they step foot onto the boat.

"Hey! Its not my fault, we wouldn't have enough Fenos left...guys come on."

Raion and Baskia nod their heads in agreement but they're both thinking the same thing The bigger boats much cooler.

They all board the boat, as Baskia unties the ropes letting it drift off down the river.

Several moments later, a storm rolls in, causing massive waves to crash onto the boat; tilting it from side to side.

Fourth stumbles backward. "Everyone, hold on to something. We hit a rock!"

"There's nothing to hold on to!" Screams Baskia over the loud roaring of the waves.

"For once, I agree with him!"

"Then brace yourselves, this is about to get bumpy!" Fourth latches himself onto the railing of the boats, hanging on for dear life.

'I can't die! I can't die like this to guys!! I don't want to turn into dust. I'm already a shadow!! Do something Fourth!"

"There's not much I can do, Raion! I can't control the weather! Just keep holding on!"

Taking charge of the horrible situation at hand Baskia puts himself as the leader.

"Guys, stop your bickering! Raion, can you see any form of land? Fourth, you too!"

"I don't see anything on my end here!"

"Fourth, what about you?"

The waves begin to get louder and more intense.

"I think I see something in the distance!"Yells Fourth.

"It's better than nothing. Raion grab the sails steer it towards that direction"

Raion grabs the sails and starts heading towards the land!

When all the sudden," I felt something touch my shoulders? Raion did you?"

"No, how could I? I'm over here." Raion oesnt give much thought to FourthS

"Yeah, you're right, then Baskia, it must have been you." Fourth lets out a small sigh of relief, his body began to relax itself and then...

"It wasn't me, Fourth." At this given time, a huge cloud of dread, had washed itself over them. The sudden danger of the storm, quickly became that of something they feared more.

"Then what grab…!" Hurdling over the edge of the boat, went Fourth. Desperately trying to grab the railing of the boat, his hands just missing it; No, this cant be! Not like this, one more reach. I need to reach it.

Fourth yet again lunges to reach for the rail, but then. "Oh no you dont." Someone or something, smashes Fourth over his head, causing a massive clunking noise to be heard by Raion. Fourths vision had then began to go blurry, as he reaches his hand out Raion, help me. His voice trails off as he gets pulled down into the dark murky depth of the waters.

"Fourth, what did you say? Fourth! Fourth, where'd you go Fourth! Baskia, Fourth, he's gone!" Raion drops the ropes to the sails, as the sails fly frantically through the coarse winds.

"Raion, quickly grab the ropes! You want us going overboard with him!?" Baskia still steering the boat towards the small bit of land that they mabaged to find, screams in fear towards Raion, his voice cracking with each word. "But, how? If he's in the water... there's just no possible way!"

Raion's eyes avert themselves over to Baskia, his dark sapphire eyes piercing through Baskia. The urgency and change in his voice was screaming 'He is alive'.

"Don't say it! He's still alive, you heard what he said, something touched him. He got pulled in!"

"But nothing can survive down there in that water!" Baskia says, while redirecting the boat.

Raion gulps and turns his head down towards the water, Baskia following with. "Apparently something can."

"But what?" Baskia and Raion say in unison.

We don't have time to figure out what right now! We have to get to the shore before we get dragged in! No sense in both of us getting lost."

"You're right, once we get to the land, we can figure out how to rescue Fourth then!"

Raion and Baskia headed towards the shore. A few minutes later, they reached it. Little to their surprise, there were other people there to greet them
