Chapter 24 - Chapter 24: Poor My Young Miss

Bai Huiling was utterly paralyzed with shock. 'How could this trash move so fast?' She wondered, her mind racing to process the blur that had just appeared before her eyes.

"Bai Huiling, you had the audacity to come here and disturb my peace. Now, it is time for you to pay the consequences." Bai Xifeng declared.

Without a moment's hesitation, she delivered a sharp, calculated punch straight to the bridge of Bai Huiling's nose.

"Fourth Young Miss!!!" Bai Huiling's maids shrieked in unison, rushing forward to catch their falling mistress.

"Third Young Miss! How dare you lay a hand on our young miss!" One of the maids cried out, glaring at Bai Xifeng with a mix of fury and disbelief.

"Of course I dare. I would even dare to kill you if you pushed me further." Bai Xifeng replied, her lips curling into a dark, predatory grin.

The maid who had dared to speak up immediately recoiled, a cold shiver of genuine fear running down her spine as she looked into Bai Xifeng's eyes.

"Enough! We must take the Fourth Young Miss for medical treatment immediately. If we delay, we will be the ones to bear the consequences for letting her be injured like this!" Xiao Mei, Bai Huiling's most loyal maid, commanded urgently.

As they began to carry the unconscious Bai Huiling away, Xiao Mei paused, turning back to steal one last glance at the girl standing in the courtyard.

Bai Xifeng did not flinch. She maintained steady eye contact, her smile widening into something chillingly calm.

Xiao Mei shuddered and quickly looked away. She remembered overhearing the Second Madam whispering that Bai Xifeng might be possessed by a demonic spirit. Seeing the girl now, Xiao Mei feared that those rumors might actually be the truth.

"Young Miss! Are you alright? Are you hurt?" Xiao Li asked, hurrying to Bai Xifeng's side as soon as the others were gone.

"Hmm... I'm perfectly fine." Bai Xifeng replied with a nonchalant nod.

"Sigh..." Xiao Li suddenly let out a long, heavy breath, her shoulders drooping.

"Why the sudden dramatic sigh?" Bai Xifeng asked, raising an amused eyebrow at her maid.

"The Second Madam is surely going to demand an explanation for this incident. You are going to be punished, Young Miss..." Xiao Li looked down, her heart aching with worry. 'My poor, fragile young miss... What will become of us?'

"We can worry about that later. Right now, I've suddenly developed quite an appetite. It's clearly Bai Huiling's fault for making me move around so much." Bai Xifeng said, resting a hand against her stomach as it let out a faint growl.

"But Young Miss... how were you able to move so incredibly fast just now?" Xiao Li asked, her curiosity finally winning out.

She was still stunned by the memory of her mistress appearing like a ghost in front of Bai Huiling before delivering that decisive blow.

"Hehe... I have my secrets. Don't worry, I'll teach you the trick soon enough." Bai Xifeng grinned, playfully scratching the back of her head.

"Oh, really? I would love to learn!" Xiao Li's eyes lit up with excitement at the promise of learning such a powerful technique.

"In the meantime, could you go and find us something to eat?" Bai Xifeng requested.

"I will try, Young Miss. But please, don't be too disappointed if I can't bring back a full feast." Xiao Li warned gently before heading off.

"I'll take whatever you can find," Bai Xifeng nodded.

Once she was alone, she collapsed onto a nearby chair, leaning back and gazing up at the vast, open sky. "Ahhh... now this is heaven."

"Your standard for 'heaven' is remarkably low." A voice hissed—it was Baishe.

Bai Xifeng sat up and glanced around the empty courtyard, seeing no one.

"Don't bother looking for me. I am currently residing within your earring." Baishe explained smoothly.

"Oh... But can anyone else hear you talking?" Bai Xifeng whispered, leaning her head to the side.

She didn't want people panicking because they heard disembodied voices coming from thin air.

"Have no fear. Only you are capable of hearing my voice." Baishe reassured her.

"That's a relief. Otherwise, people would start looking at me like I'm some kind of weirdo." Bai Xifeng laughed.

'You're already a weirdo to me.' Baishe thought, casting a dry, invisible glance toward the laughing girl.
