Su LingTian looked at Assistant Jiang with wide eyes.
"What happened."
Quickly Assistant Jiang started to retell the events.
"Well I was on my way here when I got a call from Ms. Su, she was very upset and wanted to speak with you. I told her that you were busy but she would not give up."
"So I told her to tell me the message and I'd relay it back to you. She was ok with that and went off about how Ms. Yi had called her and told her what happened."
Hearing the story Su LingTians eye began to twitch.
"Get to the point." He sighed.
"Ah ok. She talked about how she only wanted what was right for you and that it was her fault you were so closed off."
His mother had really said all that?
"Well she was getting rather emotional really quick. One second she was mad the next sad. She really took me by surprise."
"I tried to comfort her by telling her that it wasn't her fault and that you had your reasons for rejecting their help. Without realizing it I said that you already had someone in your heart."
"The line was suddenly silent and I heard a loud thump. I was afraid Ms. Su has collapsed so I called her name a few times until she replied saying she had to go and to tell her son to call her when he was free."
Assistant Jiang had finally finished talking and stared at Su LingTian.
"I see. You can leave now."
"Are you sure sir I-"
"You can leave!" Su LingTian yelled.
Assistant Jiang quickly left the room.
What a day he had today. He'd have to call his mother later to explain. On top of that he had piles of work to do. It seemed like he had no time to visit Li Hua.
He sighed as he pulled out his pen and began signing paperwork.
By the time he finished it was 7. He signed out of work and headed out the building. He took the elevator to the parking lot and drove to his parents house.
It was an hour long drive as they lived in the hill area of the city.
He parked his car in the driveway and walked into the house.
The maids greeted him at the door and took his coat and bag.
"LingTian is that you?"
His mother stood at the top of the staircase looking down at him. Seeing her son she quickly walked down the stairs and ushered him towards the kitchen.
"I must say I was sad to hear from someone else that you were seeing someone. Especially that you were engaged!"
"How could you not tell your own mother. My heart breaks every time I think about it but it I'm happy nonetheless. So who is she?"
That was his mother. She was a very over dramatic person especially as she was an actress in her early days. That was why his father loved her, falling for her the moment he saw her on screen."
However her health had been going down recently which is one of the reasons she pushed so hard for him to have a wife. When she heard the news earlier she nearly fainted.
"Well about that." He was about to tell her the truth when he froze. His mom had such a big smile on her face. He hadn't seen her smile in such a long time.
"Well I wanted to keep it a secret but it's true. There is someone."
Hearing this his mom clapped her hands.
"Yes yes yes!! Oh I've prayed to the gods for this day to come and here it is. When will I meet her? What is she like? Wait let me call your father down!"
A moment later, Mr. Su walked into the kitchen.
"Honey guess what! The day has come, our LingTian has finally found someone. A Fiance at that!"
"Really?" His father looked at him.
Recently he had thought something was wrong with his son. He was an exceptional man who woman would die to be with. Yet he was still single. He was starting to believe the rumors himself.
"What is she like?" His mother asked again.
"Well... She's very pretty. One of the prettiest people I've seen in my life. It's not her looks that makes her special to me. It's her smarts and her humor. She's one of the only people that makes me laugh and she's not afraid to fight back with me."
He wanted to give them a basic description but as he continued talking he realized he was describing one person.
"When she looks at me I feel my heart stop. She has this amazing gift too, she really knows her way around the piano."
Hearing her son talk, Ms. Su felt like she would faint. She knew her son more then anyone else.
"My god. You're in love."
In love? Him. When he thought of love only one person appeared in his mind.
"Ok, well I don't want to wait too long. You know mother is getting old and tired."
"I promise you'll meet her. Give me a few weeks." He smiled.
His mother made him some food to go and his father asked him some questions about the company. He hadn't been to his parents house in a while so it was nice.
He said his goodbyes and left. On his way home he pulled out his phone and called the hospital.
"How is she?"
"Ms. Hua is good. She spent most of her time in bed asleep but had a visitor in the middle of the day."
Visitor?
"What visitor?"
The doctor staff chuckled "A women, I think by the name An Bao. She was quite talkative."
Su LingTian laughed, even in the hospital she managed to bump into that loudmouth. He smiled,
"That's good. I'll be by tomorrow for sure." He hung up the phone and drove home.
He closed the door to his house and walked to the balcony.
"What the hell did I just get myself into."
He looked out onto the city.
'You'll meet her soon'?
When did he become such a liar? Li Hua couldn't even keep eye contact with him for more then 10 seconds. Now they were in love?
He didn't know whether he wanted to laugh or cry.
He sighed. Everything he said was true maybe 7 years ago but what about now? What would he do when a month went by? Go to his parents empty handed.
Suddenly he had a thought.
He pulled out his phone and called Assistant Jiang.
Assistant Jiang who was already asleep jumped at the ring.
"...Hello?"
"Assistant Jiang. Look up everything you can about Li Hua."
This jolted him out his sleep.
Everything about Li Hua?! Was his boss crazy.
"Hello?"
"Uh ok. No problem."
Of course he wouldn't say what he really felt! He needed this job.
"Ok well I want it by tomorrow. You can put off other work, I'll have someone else do it in the mean time."
Assistant Jiang wanted to pull a Mrs. Su and faint himself.
"Goodbye sir" he weakly said.
"Goodbye."
He thought something was wrong when he saw Li Hua the first time. What was the daughter of the Li family doing walking around one of the poorer areas of the city. Unaccompanied as well. Then he found her at a bar of all places.
Something wasn't right.
He looked one final time over the city and went inside.
He'd know all he needed to tomorrow.
