Chapter 1 - Cheater

"Hey, how are you and your husband doing, Kiera?" my childhood friend, Oliver, was walking with me after work. We both managed to get a job at the same office building, but we work in different departments. I'm in the department where we have to proofread and edit documents from the other departments, like the one that Oliver is in, problem solving.

"Oh, we're doing great," I look up and smile at him. He's an entire head taller than me, and it's a bit intimidating unless you know the guy.

"Awesome. Well I'm glad they called work off for employees early today. Mind if I stick around until you get home? I have nothing better to do," he insisted. I looked at his hazel eyes and dark brown hair.

"I don't see why not," I shrugged my shoulders and kept walking, averting my gaze back in front of me. My house was only three blocks away from the office building, so I didn't have to drive to get home. When we were almost halfway to my home, I got this sudden sick feeling in my gut. I felt like something was wrong, but I kept it down and ignored it.

"Hey, you alright? You look like you're going to puke," he looked at me with concern.

"Yeah, I'm fine," I smiled, trying to believe myself. Something is off.

"Alright, if you say so," Oliver shook just head and we kept walking until we got to my house.

"Hey, I didn't know you had two cars," Oliver pointed at a second car in my driveway. It was a burgundy color and it had a sunroof. We don't have two cars.

"Hey, can you wait out here for a second?" I ask Oliver.

"Sure thing, little thing!" Oliver chuckles at his own saying. He always says that to me. I don't understand why but it brings a smile to my face each time.

"I'll be right back," I stated as I walked to the front door. I went to turn the handle and it was locked. My husband, Walter, never locks doors. I rummaged through my purse to find my keys. After a fee seconds of searching, I found them and unlocked my door. As soon as I walked in, I could hear muffled voices. They were coming from my room upstairs. I walked quietly up the carpeted stairs and saw the door was open. As I got closer, I heard a woman moaning.

"Harder!" She screamed and Walter slightly moaned as he did what she commanded. He was already about to finish, I could tell because he and I had done that so many times. Disgusted I threw my keys at his back. The keys hit him with a loud CLANG. The two stopped and looked at me as tears swelled up in my eyes.

"I hope you're fucking happy with her, because I'm not coming back anymore. You had the audacity to bring some woman and sleep with her in our bed, so now you can keep her. I'm leaving," I started to run away and hurried outside. Walter didn't even try to follow me, and instead, I heard them continuing. I was so horrified by the sight of my own husband having sex with another woman. I ran out the door to Oliver and hugged him tightly.

"Hey, what's wrong, Ra?" Oliver used the nickname he'd given me when we were kids. I replied by burying my face into his chest as I bawled my eyes out. Oliver reaches his arms around me in an embrace and rests his head atop of mine.

"He's having sex with another woman right now," I said, muffled into Oliver's chest.

"Ra, you know I can't understand what you said. You're so muffled," he pulled away from the embrace and placed his hands on my shoulders.

"Now try telling me again," the wind started to blow and I could see the makeup from my face transferred into his suit. Teary-eyed, I look up at Oliver.

"He cheated on me," I cry harder as he pulls me back into him. His right hand rubs my hair as his left arm holds me tightly.
